Solitosynthesis induced phase transitions
We consider a phase transition induced by the growth of Q-balls in a false
vacuum. Such a transition could occur in the early universe in the case of
broken supersymmetry with a metastable false vacuum. Small Q-balls with a
negative potential energy can grow in a false vacuum by accretion of global
charge until they reach critical size, expand, and cause a phase transition. We
consider the growth of Q-balls from small to large, using the Bethe-Salpeter
equation to describe small charge solitons and connecting to the growth of
larger solitons for which the semiclassical approximation is reliable. We thus
test the scenario in a simplified example inspired by supersymmetric extensions
of the standard model.Comment: 14 pages, 9 figures, 2 tables Added sections on explicit connection

Beware Casual Leaders: Leadership Matters [Book Review]
Beware casual leaders — they leave casualties wherever they go! So claims Andy Portsmouth, who has worked for some of the UK’s and Europe’s largest multi-national companies over the past 35 years. Starting as a graduate, he progressed to director before becoming a board-level consultant. The tone of his book is set by the blurb: “Cut through the corporate b*llsh*t. Many organizations are sabotaged from the inside. Their biggest threat is not from competitors but from themselves.” The writing style is down-to-earth with many exclamation marks
Could the doctrine of moral rights be used as a basis for understanding the notion of control within data protection law?
This is an Accepted Manuscript of an article published by Taylor & Francis Group in Information & Communications Technology Law on 1 April 2018, available online at:https://doi.org/10.1080/13600834.2018.1458449. Under embargo until 1 October 2019.This article considers the notion of individual control of personal data as envisaged by the European data protection framework and makes the argument that it is a poorly-understood and under-developed concept, but that our understanding of it may be improved by way of analyses and comparisons with the doctrine of moral rights, an important constituent element of intellectual property law. The article starts by examining the concept of personal data itself, and why an enhanced level of individual control over personal data is thought to be a desirable regulatory objective. Following this, the article examines the scholarly literature pertaining to individual control of personal data, as well as a range of relevant EU policy documents. Having done so, the article argues that the notion of control is muddled and confused from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Following this, the article considers the doctrine of moral rights, and through an exploration of its theoretical and practical elements highlights why it may be of assistance in terms of enhancing our understanding of individual control in the data protection context.Peer reviewedFinal Accepted Versio
Corporate decisionmaking, corporate collapse and inefficiency
Companies are a nexus of decisions.1 The quantum of each day’s decision making either
moves the company forward in its best interests, backwards from its best interests or
leaves the company neutral (the same) in relation to its best interests

Is Weather (temperature) Having a Major Influence on the Final Weights of Chickens in Sheepdrove Organic Farm Organic Silvo-Poultry System?
It was thought that weather, and in particular air temperature, could be a major factor in SOF poultry failing to reach its target market weight of 1.83kg kill out weight. This study used data form the SOF processing plant for the average bird weight for the twice weekly processing of the birds and hourly air temperature from an automated weather station sited on SOF which was averaged over the seven weeks prior to processing (the time the birds spend in the field sheds. The data between 20th January and 3rd September 2003 showed that there was no relationship between air temperature and final bird weight
