    Get PDF

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of different lipid sources in diets for lactating cows on milk yield and composition, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) content, and fatty acid profile in the milk fat. Five primiparous Holstein cows were distributed in a 5 × 5 Latin square design. Treatments were: control (no lipid addition) and four other diets containing different lipids sources - ground raw soybean, cottonseed, soybean oil, and calcium salts of soybean fatty acids (CSSFA). The greater milk yield (kg/day) and milk lactose (g/kg) and solids non-fat (g/kg) contents were obtained with the animals fed diets with CSSFA. Regarding the fatty acid profile in the milk fat, the diets with CSSFA and ground raw soybeans produced the greatest concentrations of polyunsaturated fatty acids and C182. Supplementation with CSSFA provided a greater production (g/day) of CLA, resulting in almost twice the values shown by the other treatments. The use of different lipid sources does not affect the milk total solids (protein, fat, and lactose) and CSSFA has a positive influence on the fatty acid profile of the milk fat and amount of CLA produced. Additionally, milk yield is not affected by this supplement

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of spacing on eucalyptus dendrometric characteristics in silvopastoral system with Brachiaria decumbens. Three eucalyptus spacing were used (3x2, 6x4 and 10x4 m). The randomized block design was used with factorial scheme (3x4) with three densities of planting eucalyptus (3x2, 6x4 and 10x4 m) and four times of evaluation (6, 12, 18 and 24 months after planting). The dendrometric characteristics were evaluated: 0,30 m diameter, diameter at breast height - 1.30 m (DBH), cup diameter, height, biomass per tree and plant survival. It was found positive effect of months of evaluation for the diameter to 0.30 m, cup diameter and height. There were no effects of spacing for the variables DBH, survival and biomass per tree when evaluated at 24 months. There was effect for biomass per hectare being 3x2 m the best treatament. It can be concluded that the planting spacing only affected the biomass per hectare, when evaluated up to 24 months of Eucalyptus urophylla grown in silvopastoral system.

Major metabolic and metabolomic aspects of nutrition in the gut microbiota and sports performance: a systematic review

Introduction: In the context of sports performance, nutrition has been used to improve the health of the brain, bones, muscles, and cardiovascular system of athletes. However, recent research suggests that the gut microbiota (GM) may also play a role in athlete health and performance. Objective: It was to carry out a systematic review of the main clinical findings, involving the metabolic and metabolomic aspects, of the relationship between gut microbiota and sports performance under control and nutrological modulation. Methods: The systematic review rules of the PRISMA Platform were followed. The research was carried out from January to March 2023 in Scopus, PubMed, Science Direct, Scielo, and Google Scholar databases. The quality of the studies was based on the GRADE instrument and the risk of bias was analyzed according to the Cochrane instrument. Results and Conclusion: A total of 328 articles were found, and 132 articles were evaluated in full and 108 were included and developed in this systematic review study. Considering the Cochrane tool for risk of bias, the overall assessment resulted in 52 studies with a high risk of bias and 74 studies that did not meet GRADE. It was concluded that athletes must feed, train and utilize the entire supraorganism, including the GM, implementing gut-centered dietary strategies to achieve optimal performance. Current evidence suggests that the GM may contribute to sports performance through the production of dietary metabolites (short-chain fatty acids, secondary bile acids), influence on gastrointestinal physiology (e.g. nutrient absorption), and immune modulation (inhibition of pathogens). Dietary strategies common in athletes, such as a high intake of protein and simple carbohydrates and a low intake of nondigestible carbohydrates, may adversely affect the GM and predispose athletes to gastrointestinal problems and thus impair performance. However, adequate dietary fiber intake, a variety of protein sources, and an emphasis on unsaturated fats, especially ɷ-3 fatty acids, as well as supplementation with pre, pro, and synbiotics, have shown promising results in optimizing the health of the athletes and their GM with potential beneficial effects on performance

Workers in Primary Health Care (PHC) play a key role in coping with COVID-19, which required personal and work-flow changes, causing physical and emotional overload and stress, which could lead to Burnout Syndrome (BS). The objective of this study was to check the prevalence of BS in health professionals working in PHC in the municipality of Curitibanos, state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The research was carried out between November 2020 and May 2021, a sociodemographic questionnaire, and the Brazilian version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS), which contains 22 questions and three dimensions - Emotional Exhaustion (EE), Depersonalization (DP) and Personal Fulfillment (PF), were applied. Data were collected and analyzed descriptively with subsequent statistical comparison. Participants were50 volunteers aged 40.1 ± 9.5 years, time in the profession of 10.8 ± 7.9 years. Results of the MBI-HSS showed the prevalence of risk was moderate for EE and high for DP and PF. However, no significant difference was detected between the MBI-HSS dimensions and sociodemographic variables. In conclusion, the prevalence of risk was 17.6+11.4 points in EE (moderate); 6.6+5.0 points in DP (moderate) and 36.8+6.6 points in RP (high), indicating that the evaluated population already demands some need for contingency or preventive care because it has a clear predisposition to BS. However, there was no statistical association with sociodemographic variables

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of spacing on eucalyptus in silvopastoral system under production and chemical composition of Brachiaria decumbens. Four treatments were used, which were related to the three spaces planting of eucalyptus (3x2, 6x4 and 10x4m) plus the control treatment (no tree). The experimental design was randomized complete block with four treatments, four blocks and two repetitions per block, and the analysis was made by repeated measurements. It was found effects of treatment on the forage mass yielding and dry matter accumulation rate (DMAR). There were no effect of planting spacing either or leaf/stem ratio or CP percentage, NDF percentage and mineral percentage. Planting spacing of Eucalyptus urophylla affects both production and chemical composition of Brachiaria evaluated up to the 24 months.O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o efeito do espaçamento de plantio do eucalipto em sistema silvipastoril sobre a produção e composição química da Brachiaria decumbens.

    Get PDF
