    The Effects of Cognitive Behavorial Therapy Group and Social Support Group on the Self Esteem Among Breast Cancer Patients

    This study is aimed to determine the main effects of CBT group, social support group (DS) and control group (KK) on the self esteem among breast cancer patients. Rosemberg self esteem scale (RSE) was used to measure self-esteem. The treatment group consisted of CBT and DS groups. Each  treatment group received 12 counselling sessions within six weeks. Quantitative analysis general linear model (GLM) repeated measures was used to identify the groups’ (CBT, DS, and KK) main effect, the repeated test RSE scale (pre test, post test 1, post test 2, and post test 3) main effect and the interaction effect (CBT, DS, and KK), and repeated tests RSE scale (pre test, post test 1, post test 2, post test 3). There was no significant difference in the groups (CBT, DS, and KK) main effect on the Rosenberg Self Esteem (RSE) scores. There was a significant difference (F (3.10) =  66.823, p = 0.0001 (Wilk's Lambda) on the repeated test RSE scale (pre test, post test 1, post test 2, and post test 3) main effects on self esteem score. Overall findings showed an increase in RSE scores between the pre test, post test 1, post test 2 and post test 3

    Assessment of drought impacts on vegetation health: a case study in Kedah

    Prolonged drought in the early of 2014 has caused Malaysia to experience water supply shortage which directly affects both health and growth of vegetation. Thus this study aims to assess the risk vegetation areas that were impacted during 2014's drought by integrating the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) and Normalized Differentiation Vegetation Index (NDVI) methods. These two methods were able to assess the risk areas for the vegetation by measuring its health and classifying them according to its severity while considering the rainfall reduction at the specific time and location. The results obtained from this study shows that the central and north west of Kedah was vulnerable to the occurrence of drought. Kedah was more impacted by the dry event during the northeast monsoon. This study is significant as a fundamental input for further research and as an alternative approach by the application of space technology

    Development of modified double-weight code and its implementation in multi-rate transmissions

    This paper presents a new code structure and its ability in supporting multiple transmission rates in point to point Spectral Amplitude Coding- Optical Code Division Multiple Access (SAC-OCDMA) links. The Double-Weight (DW) code family that has a basic fixed weight of 2 was proposed. Modified Double Weight (MDW) Code is a DW code family variation that has variable weight of greater than two. The ability of MDW codes to support simultaneous transmissions at different bit rates is shown through simulated results of the bit error rate (BER) and the eye patterns. Four MDW encoded channels were used at the bit rates of 2.5Gbps and 10Gbps. MDW code shown here significantly performs better than Hadamard and Modified Frequency Hopping (MFH) codes

    Effect of esomeprazole on maternal serum soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 and endoglin in patients with early-onset preeclampsia

    Objective: This study evaluates the effect of esomeprazole on the maternal serum levels of soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1) and soluble endoglin (sEng) in patients with early-onset preeclampsia.Methods: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was carried out in a tertiary University hospital between March 2018, and September 2019 (Clinical Trials.Gov: NCT03213639). The study included women between 28 and 31+6 weeks gestational age who had been diagnosed as preeclampsia without severe features. They were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio into an esomeprazole group, which received esomeprazole 40 mg orally once a day, and a placebo group, which received one placebo tablet daily. Blood samples were obtained to assess levels of serum sFlt-1and sEng using ELISA testing. The primary outcome was the difference between the mean serum level of sFlt-1 and sEng at the start of treatment and at the termination of pregnancy in both groups.Results: Eighty-eight patients were randomly assigned into both groups (44 in each). No statistically significant difference was found in the levels of sFlt-1 between both groups at admission and termination of pregnancy. The number of days of treatment for the esomeprazole group was slightly longer than the placebo group (11.4±9.4 vs. 10.3±6.3 days, P=0.515). No statistically significant difference in the rate of maternal and fetal complications occurred between the two groups. No side effects from the study medications were reported.Conclusions: Esomeprazole, at the dosage used in this study did not effectively lower the serum levels of sFlt-1 and sEng in patients with early-onset preeclampsia. Furthermore, it did not prolong the duration of pregnancy, nor did it decrease maternal or fetal complications

    This paper presents the design of 5.8 GHz front end Low Noise Amplifier application for IEEE standard 802.11 systems for WLAN application. Revolution and demand of WLAN technology have urged development of low cost, low power and small size transceiver by using microstrip technology [1]. This paper is present design and simulation of single stage LNA circuits. This paper is focusing on development of Low Noise Amplifier operating at 5.75-5.85GHz (5GHz upper U-NII band) for WLAN application. The amplifier design used FHX76LP Low noise SuperHEMT from Eudyna Device USA Inc. The design circuit uses lumped elements to implement the matching networks. The purpose single stage of input and output matching network is to produces 50Ω impedance at the input and output port of the LNA. The matching network is used at both sides of the transistor [2],[3]. The target simulation are gain (S21)with >10dB, noise figure with <10dB and input and output return loss <-10dB at 5.8 GHz. A single stage LNA has successfully designed with 15.924 dB forward gain , 0.552 dB noise figure, -11.182 dB output return loss(S22) and -13.246 dB input return loss(S11) by using ADS software

    The Direct Sparse Odometry (DSO) technique is a new form of visual odometry that makes use of a direct and sparse structure to achieve precision. In this project, the objective is to apply the DSO algorithm on the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) application. The main studies in this project are focusing on the experimentation for DSO algorithm parameter setting. Another objective is to evaluate the parameter and performance of DSO algorithm. The data evaluation was based on three different environments in the university campus. In this project, the Realsense D435i camera was applied to the RDDRONE-FMUK66 with interface of the Raspberry Pi 3 B+ model to capture the data. This project managed to analyze suitable point values on the active points and gradient parameter setting. The same parameter configuration which concerns on point density and keyframe management have been experimented in the three environment. From this project it is concluded that DSO on UAV can be improved in order to gain a stable data processing to be applied in the algorithm

    Development of an indoor air quality checklist for risk assessment of indoor air pollutants by semiquantitative score in nonindustrial workplaces

    Background: To meet the current diversified health needs in workplaces, especially in nonindustrial workplaces in developing countries, an indoor air quality (IAQ) component of a participatory occupational safety and health survey should be included. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate and suggest a multidisciplinary, integrated IAQ checklist for evaluating the health risk of building occupants. This IAQ checklist proposed to support employers, workers, and assessors in understanding a wide range of important elements in the indoor air environment to promote awareness in nonindustrial workplaces. Methods: The general structure of and specific items in the IAQ checklist were discussed in a focus group meeting with IAQ assessors based upon the result of a literature review, previous industrial code of practice, and previous interviews with company employers and workers. Results: For practicality and validity, several sessions were held to elicit the opinions of company members, and, as a result, modifications were made. The newly developed IAQ checklist was finally formulated, consisting of seven core areas, nine technical areas, and 71 essential items. Each item was linked to a suitable section in the Industry Code of Practice on Indoor Air Quality published by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health. Conclusion: Combined usage of an IAQ checklist with the information from the Industry Code of Practice on Indoor Air Quality would provide easily comprehensible information and practical support. Intervention and evaluation studies using this newly developed IAQ checklist will clarify the effectiveness of a new approach in evaluating the risk of indoor air pollutants in the workplace

    Elemental hydrochemistry assessment on its variation and quality status in Langat River, Western Peninsular Malaysia.

    This paper discusses the hydrochemistry variation and its quality status in Langat River, based on the chemistry of major ions, metal concentrations and suitability for drinking purposes. Water samples were collected from 30 different stations to assess their hydrochemical characteristics. The physico-chemical parameters selected were temperature, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids (TDS), salinity, dissolved oxygen , pH, redox potential, HCO3, Cl, SO4, NO3, Ca, Na, K, Mg, 27Al, 138Ba, 9Be, 111Cd, 59Co, 63Cu, 52Cr, 57Fe, 55Mn, 60Ni, 208Pb, 80Se and 66Zn to investigate the variation of the constituents in the river water. Most of the parameters comply with the Drinking Water Quality Standard of the World Health Organization and the Malaysian National Standard for Drinking Water Quality by the Malaysia Ministry of Health except for EC, TDS, Cl, HCO3, SO4, Na, Mg, Al, Fe and Se. The results show that the Langat River is unsuitable for drinking purposes directly without treatment
