The current study explored factors affecting behavioral of knowledge transfer and the antecedents predicting this within the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework. This study made an attempt to incorporate knowledge transfer-related variables (articulability of knowledge, credibility of knowledge source, gap of theory-practice, embedded knowledge and environmental uncertainty) into the framework. The premise of the model is to provide guideline of necessary conditions that are influential to knowledge transfer behavior in the clinical placement. It is hoped that by holistically understanding and paying closer attention to these predictors, a more comprehensive strategy can be devise beforehand to alleviate any problems that might negatively hinder activities of acquiring and applying new knowledge at the point of clinical placement, which subsequently maximize required clinical experience and in turn increase the levels of clinical competence. The posited model was validated quantitatively using field surveys to one of key stakeholders of clinical placement; the nursing students. The influence of the variables selected for this study was tested on two distinct samples of Lower Semester Group, LSG (semester 1- 3) and Higher Semester Group, HSG (semester 4-6) separately… The assessment and improvement of angle stability condition of the power system using particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique / Nor Azwan Mohamed Kamari This thesis presents the assessment and improvement of stability domains for the angle stability condition of the power system using particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique. An efficient optimization method using PSO for synchronizing torque coefficients Ks and damping torque coefficients Kd to solve angle stability problems was developed and used to identify the angle stability condition on single and multi machine system. In order to accelerate the determination of angle stability, particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed to be implemented in this study. The application of the proposed algorithm has been justified as the most accurate with lower computation time as compared to other optimization techniques such as evolutionary programming (EP) and artificial immune system (AIS). Subsequently, a newly control technique named as proportional-integral-derivative (PID) incorporated with flexible AC transmission (FACTS) device is proposed in this study to improve the damping capability of the system. The minimum damping ratio ξmin was applied as an indicator to precisely determine the angle stability condition based on PSO technique. The proposed optimization technique was compared with respect to EP and AIS

    Get PDF
Employers nowadays should stop worrying about accommodating disabled employees as appropriate assistive technologies (AT) could be adopted that fit with their employees’ limitations and help them work independently. Yet, little consideration is given to examining the adoption of AT by employers for employees with disabilities. As a result, the purpose of this study is to determine how an employer decides to adopt technology for their disabled employees and to look for any significant differences between gender and willingness to hire a disabled worker. This study's survey was conducted among 33 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Klang Valley, Malaysia. The judgement sampling technique is utilizsed for this study, where the selection of samples will be among the managers, officers or executives in charge of managing the disabled workers. This study has specifically examined the office assistant apps as the particular AT for disabled people that the government supplied to disabled communities (hearing aids, artificial legs, etc.). The result showed a positive and significant relationship between AT Perceived Usefulness and Intention to Adopt AT. In conclusion, this study provides comprehension of the extent of employers' readiness and interest in providing AT for their disabled employees to improve their capabilities

Establishing a healthy co-worker relationship is the heart of developing a harmonious working environment. The area of organizational behaviour has paid less attention to workplace ostracism (WO) which can have a negative impact on the workplace environment. It is a prominent issue in the workplace that needs to be further investigated and studies on this issue are diverse and large. Thus, this paper comprehensively reviews the literature related to WO in two aspects. Firstly, it discusses counterproductive work behaviour (CWB) as an implication of ostracism from the perspective of reciprocity theory. Secondly, to investigate emotional intelligence (EI) potential to mitigate ostracized employees from acting defensively at work. This paper reveals that CWB emerged as a toxic behaviour due to WO. Meanwhile, positive EI can prevent employees from ostracizing others. Addressing this issue can reveal that CWB can potentially lead to ostracizing behaviour and EI as a reducing factor to the relationship

Management of Gamified Lesson: Understanding Aesthetics and Acceptance among Learners

    Get PDF
Joyful learning evokes happy feelings and subsequently induces positive academic achievement.  With the rise of mental health issues due to intense study among students, gamification has recently grown in popularity among academic institutions to make learners happier, more engaged and ultimately improve learning outcomes. However, the management of gamified lessons has been a problem for years for all education levels on a varying basis. Nowadays, it is increasingly recognized that not all learners are acceptive of gamified lessons for learning. Drawing on a survey of 283 students of higher learning institutions, this study found that aesthetics, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment have a favorable impact on the intention to accept gamification in learning among learners. This study contributes to under-investigated scholarly works of suitable conditions under which gamified lesson best takes place with regard to aesthetics and learners’ acceptance that would be beneficial for the effective management of gamification

The determinants of counterproductive work behaviour: a concept paper / Dewi Muzalifah Zainal ... [et.al]

    Get PDF
For the past few years, counterproductive work behaviour (CWB) cases among workforces have been on the rise. Although CWB easily goes unnoticeable in many organizations, absenteeism, sabotage and theft signified CWB at workplaces. Regardless of forms, CWB are harmful to the organization or fellow employees and undermine the goals and interests of a business. As present workplaces see spikes in CWB occurrences, many employers are fearful that their employees are much more likely to engage in any CWB which is why understanding the determinants of CWB is gaining importance. In relation to CWB, The Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model has been repeatedly used in explaining the well-being and performance of employees in occupational settings. The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of the JD-R model, which incorporates workload as job demand, job control as job resources, job stress as strain and job engagement as motivation with CWB as the behavioural stress reaction. This study adds value to the existing knowledge by developing a conceptual understanding that determinants of CWB at workplace is context-specific from the manufacturing industry lens. To the fact employees are an important asset in today's increasingly competitive business environment, a review of counterproductive behaviour at the workplace is deemed appropriate

Employment among people with disabilities remains debatable. This paper investigates employers' points of view towards accepting technological assistance for employees with disabilities at the workplace. Specifically, this paper examines the effects of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use on acceptance towards Office Assistance Application among employers to disabled employees. Acceptance towards any technology has been broadly tested using Davis' Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). To prove if that is the case or not for Office Assistance Applications within the context of employers to employees with disabilities, this research was undertaken to affirm the past research. Data was collected via online questionnaires from 35 employers to Micro Enterprises organization. 6 of surveyed employers were current employers to disabled workers, 18 employers affirmed interest to employ PWDs in the future with 9 employers asserted no interest to hire disabled workers. Data was analysed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The result showed two hypotheses were supported evidencing positive and significant relationship between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, and relationship between perceived usefulness and technology acceptance. Findings are useful for employers to improve functions of their disabled workers at the workplace along with increasing employment prospects for people with disabilities

    Get PDF
Online learning has become compulsory when the world was facing the Covid 19 outbreak. Accordingly, students’ engagement and participation during online learning have been a major concern among teachers. By adapting the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the present study is carried out to examine influential factors towards the intention to use gamification during online classes. With the use of judgmental sampling, 283 usable responses have been gathered from undergraduate students in Malaysia. Results revealed that ‘authentic’ positively affects three mediating variables of perceived value (PEU), perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived enjoyment (PE). Additionally, PEU, PU and PE posit positive responses towards the intention to use gamification in online learning. Furthermore, all three mediators also present positive effects in the relationship between authentic and intention to use. Thus, this study affirms the usability of TAM in the online learning context with the extension of authenticity as the external factor and perceived enjoyment as the mediating factor. The results give implications for educators and higher learning institutions to modify their learning outcomes and course content to be more interesting with the usage of online gamification tools. Perhaps, this study gives further insight for future research to apply other external factors, such as knowledge and trust to enrich the study in gamification context

Modelling Workplace Ostracism among Workforces amid Pandemic Outbreaks

    Get PDF
Amid pandemic outbreaks, many jobs that were once thought to be safe are now considered potentially harmful since the virus can be easily spread from one person to another. Albeit vaccination program, the fear of infections at the workplace is still alarming as getting vaccinated is a voluntary act and the virus keeps evolving from time to time.  As everyone must keep their working life at risk since social distancing and wearing face masks are no longer being forcefully practiced, people are taking safety precautions into their own hands, leading to changes in ostracized behavior in the workplace. Following the Theory of Protection Motivation, this paper made attempts to conceptually model workplace ostracism to understand why some workforces are changing their behavior towards ostracism during a pandemic outbreak. Towards the end, the findings from this study are expected to contribute towards achieving mentally stable workforces and sustainable human resources
