The Effect of Smoking on Carbon Monoxide Respiration among Active Smokers in Palembang City, Indonesia
Smoking leads to disease and disability as well as harm nearly every organ of the body. Furthermore, smoking of tobacco is known to cause pulmonary dysfunction and lead to complications, pain, or even death. This study aimed to measure the risk factors for the respiration of carbon monoxide among smokers. A cross-sectional design was implemented by involving 156 smokers in Karyajaya Subdistrict, Palembang City. The dependent variable was carbon monoxide levels (ppm), while the independent variables were smoking frequency, duration, and the last period of smoking. The carbon monoxide levels (ppm) measured with a PiCO + Smokerlyzer® device from Bedfont Scientific Limited were the research tool and the independent variables of the questionnaire. The Pearson Correlation and multiple linear regression were used for the analysis. The results of the multiple linear regression analysis revealed that smoking duration assessment is related to carbon monoxide respiration after controlling smoking frequency, the last period of smoking, and the distance of residence to sources of exposure. The smoker's respiration of carbon monoxide level was 72.5% influenced by the duration, frequency, last period of smoking, and distance of residence to sources of exposure. Reducing the frequency of smoking and stopping may prevent and control carbon monoxide respiration
Kondisi Klinis dan Determinan Status Gizi Anak dengan HIV/AIDS (ADHA)
Globally, nearly 2.6 million children under 15 years of age have been infected with HIV with 40-64% experiencing malnutrition. Children born to HIV-positive mothers with CD4 alpha (0.05). In this study, the average nutritional status of ADHA who did not have comorbidities was higher than that of ADHA who had comorbidities. The average difference in nutritional status was statistically significant with a p-value of 0.01

Understanding the Health-related Quality of Life of People Living with HIV Based on Sexual Orientation
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection has detrimental impacts on the lives of different population groups living with HIV, including men who have sex with men (MSM). Using the World Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire, this study aimed to assess the health-related quality of life of men living with HIV with different sexual orientations and to determine the dominant influential factors. This cross-sectional study involved 206 men living with HIV. They were recruited from the Sriwijaya Plus Foundation and a medical facility that provided antiretroviral therapy. The data were analyzed using Chi-square and binomial logistic regression. The analysis showed that the percentage of MSM patients was greater than that of non-MSM patients, accounting for 68.9% of the total population. The multivariate logistic regression revealed that the most dominant influential factor was depression status (PR = 5.417; 95% CI = 2.473–11.876), with the majority of the depressed patients being 5.417 times more at risk of a lower quality of life compared to others. These findings suggest that depression can lead to a low quality of life among HIV patients
PKM Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Dalam Pengelolaan Terpadu Daerah Aliran Sungai Sei Ular Dari Aspek Hukum, Sosial Dan Ekonomi Di Kecamatan Dolok Silou Kabupaten Simalungun
Communities play a major role in the success, failure or inhibition of success in watershed management. The
community is the beneficiary actor as well as the impact recipient in the management of natural resources in a
watershed. Community participation is needed in watershed management from the planning stage to program
monitoring and evaluation. Partner Problems: 1. The people of the Dolok Silou sub-district do not yet understand
the integrated management of the DAS Sei Ular related to legal, social and economic aspects. 2. There has been
no socialization about community empowerment in Dolok Silou District regarding the integrated management of
the DAS Sei Ular. 3. There is no collaboration between independent institutions and the Dolok Silou District
government regarding community empowerment. The stages of community service activities in the watershed
start from introduction, socialization and education; coaching for the community around the DAS Sei Ular. The
results of Community Service stated that: An understanding of the integrated management of the DAS Sei Ular
related to the legal, social and economic aspects of the people of the Dolok Silou sub-district is very necessary;
Socialization about community empowerment around the DAS Sei Ular in Dolok Silau District needs to be done
to maintain existing resources and collaboration between stakeholders needs to be carried out as an effort to
empower communities around the DAS Sei Ular in Dolok Silou Distric
FOXO3a is broadly neuroprotective in vitro and in vivo against insults implicated in motor neuron diseases
Aging is a risk factor for the development of adult-onset neuro-degenerative diseases. While some of the molecular pathways regulating longevity and stress resistance in lower organisms are defined (i.e., those activating the transcriptional regulators DAF-16 and HSF-1 in C. elegans), their relevance to mammals and disease susceptibility are unknown. We studied the signaling controlled by the mammalian homolog of DAF-16, FOXO3a, in model systems of motor neuron disease. Neuron death elicited in vitro by excitotoxic insult or the expression of mutant SOD1, mutant p150(glued) or polyQ expanded androgen receptor was abrogated by expression of nuclear-targeted FOXO3a. We identify a compound (Psammaplysene A, PA) that increases nuclear localization of FOXO3a in vitro and in vivo and show that PA also protects against these insults in vitro. Administration of PA to invertebrate model systems of neurodegeneration similarly blocked neuron death in a DAF-16/FOXO3a-dependent manner. These results indicate that activation of the DAF-16/FOXO3a pathway, genetically or pharmacologically, confers protection against the known causes of motor neuron diseases
