Iron-Catalyzed Regioselective Anti-Markovnikov Addition of C–H Bonds in Aromatic Ketones to Alkenes

    No full text
We report here on a C–H alkylation reaction, in which the coupling of aromatic ketones with alkenes proceeds in the presence of only a simple Fe(PMe3)4 catalyst. The anti-Markovnikov addition of ortho C–H bonds in various ketones occurs with excellent regioselectivity under relatively mild reaction conditions. A strikingly wide variety of alkenes can be used for this reaction, and the high-yielding anti-Markovnikov addition of aromatic C–H bonds to enol ethers was achieved for the first time using this catalyst system

() The methylation levels detected by the oligonucleotide microarray were compared with those derived from bisulfite sequencing. The methylation levels by bisulfite sequencing was determined by dividing the total number of methylated CpG sites analyzed by the number of CpG sites at that locus and multiplying by 100, whereas the percentage of methylation levels analyzed by microarray analysis was determined by the use of standard curves derived from the aforementioned calibration controls as shown in . The average signal intensity was taken from two spots on four slides proceeded in parallel. The error bars indicate SD

Total Synthesis of Schizocommunin and Revision of Its Structure

A proposed structure for schizocommunin (<i>Z</i>)-<b>1</b><b>hydroxy</b> and its geometric isomer (<i>E</i>)-<b>1</b><b>hydroxy</b>, which exist in a keto form, has been synthesized. However, the spectroscopic data of (<i>Z</i>)-<b>1</b><b>keto</b> and (<i>E</i>)-<b>1</b><b>keto</b> were not consistent with those reported for natural schizocommunin. After reinvestigating the spectral data for natural schizocommunin, we synthesized the quinazolinone derivative (<i>Z</i>)-<b>2</b> as a revised structure for schizocommunin. All of the spectral data of (<i>Z</i>)-<b>2</b> were completely identical to those reported for natural schizocommunin. (<i>Z</i>)-<b>2</b> showed moderate antiproliferative activity

Post-RARP urinary continence recovery stratified by voided volume change.

Kaplan-Meier curves for post-operative continence recovery to (A) use of 1 pad or less per day, and (B) pad-free status, as stratified by change in voided volume. A statistically significant difference was found for both curves, with a larger decrease in voided volume exhibiting a lower continence rate (log-rank test: P value = 0.011 and 0.008, respectively). Abbreviations RARP: robot-assisted radical prostatectomyΔVV: perioperative change in voided volume.</p
