Low-scale Supersymmetry from Inflation
We investigate an inflation model with the inflaton being identified with a
Higgs boson responsible for the breaking of U(1)B-L symmetry. We show that
supersymmetry must remain a good symmetry at scales one order of magnitude
below the inflation scale, in order for the inflation model to solve the
horizon and flatness problems, as well as to account for the observed density
perturbation. The upper bound on the soft supersymmetry breaking mass lies
between 1TeV and 10^3TeV. Interestingly, our finding opens up a possibility
that universes with the low-scale supersymmetry are realized by the
inflationary selection. Our inflation model has rich implications; non-thermal
leptogenesis naturally works, and the gravitino and moduli problems as well as
the moduli destabilization problem can be solved or ameliorated; the
standard-model higgs boson receives a sizable radiative correction if the
supersymmertry breaking takes a value on the high side ~10^3TeV.Comment: 23pages, 3 figures. v2: references adde
Refined topological amplitudes in N=1 flux compactification
We study the implication of refined topological string amplitudes in the
supersymmetric N=1 flux compactification. They generate higher derivative
couplings among the vector multiplets and graviphoton with generically
non-holomorphic moduli dependence. For a particular term, we can compute them
by assuming the geometric engineering. We claim that the Dijkgraaf-Vafa large N
matrix model with the beta-ensemble measure directly computes the higher
derivative corrections to the supersymmetric effective action of the
supersymmetric N=1$ gauge theory.Comment: 16 pages, v2: reference adde
Game Based Learning for Safety and Security Education
Safety and security education are important part of technology related education, because of recent number of increase in safety and security related incidents. Game based learning is an emerging and rapidly advancing forms of computer-assisted instruction. Game based learning for safety and security education enables students to learn concepts and skills without the risk of physical injury and security breach. In this paper, a pedestal grinder safety game and physical security game have been developed using industrial standard modeling and game development software. The average score of the knowledge test of grinder safety game was 82%, which is higher than traditional lecture only instruction method. In addition, the survey of physical security game shows 84% average satisfaction ratio from high school students who played the game during the summer camp. The results of these studies indicated that game based learning method can enhance students' learning without potential harm to the students
Finite N Index and Angular Momentum Bound from Gravity
We exactly compute the finite N index and BPS partition functions for N=4 SYM
theory in a newly proposed maximal angular momentum limit. The new limit is not
predicted from the superconformal algebra, but naturally arises from the
supergravity dual. We show that the index does not receive any finite N
corrections while the free BPS partition function does.Comment: 14 pages, v2: minor revisions, published versio
Superfield Formulation for Non-Relativistic Chern-Simons-Matter Theory
We construct a superfield formulation for non-relativistic
Chern-Simons-Matter theories with manifest dynamical supersymmetry. By
eliminating all the auxiliary fields, we show that the simple action reduces to
the one obtained by taking non-relativistic limit from the relativistic
Chern-Simons-Matter theory proposed in the literature. As a further
application, we give a manifestly supersymmetric derivation of the
non-relativistic ABJM theory.Comment: 18 page
Pion photoproduction in a dynamical coupled-channel model
Pion photoproduction reactions are investigated in a dynamical
coupled-channel approach based on the Juelich pi-N model, which presently
includes the hadronic pi-N and eta-N stable channels as well as the pi-Delta,
sigma-N and rho-N effective channels. This model has been quite successful in
the description of pi-N to pi-N scattering for center-of-mass energies up to
1.9 GeV. The full pion photoproduction amplitude is constructed to satisfy the
generalized Ward-Takahashi identity and hence, it is fully gauge invariant. The
calculated differential cross sections and photon spin asymmetries up to 1.65
GeV center-of-mass energy for the reactions gamma p to pi+ n, gamma p to pi0 p
and gamma n to pi- p are in good agreement with the experimental data.Comment: Invited talk given at 12th International Conference on Meson-Nucleon

Holographic storage of multiple coherence gratings in a Bose-Einstein condensate
We demonstrate superradiant conversion between a two-mode collective atomic
state and a single-mode light field in an elongated cloud of Bose-condensed
atoms. Two off-resonant write beams induce superradiant Raman scattering,
producing two independent coherence gratings with a different wave vector in
the cloud. By applying phase-matched read beams after a controllable delay, the
gratings can be selectively converted into the light field also in a
superradiant way. Due to the large cooperativity parameter and the small
velocity width of the condensate, a high conversion efficiency of % and
a long storage time of s were achieved.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Higher derivative corrections in holographic Zamolodchikov-Polchinski theorem
We study higher derivative corrections in holographic dual of
Zamolodchikov-Polchinski theorem that states the equivalence between scale
invariance and conformal invariance in unitary d-dimensional Poincare invariant
field theories. From the dual holographic perspective, we find that a
sufficient condition to show the holographic theorem is the generalized strict
null energy condition of the matter sector in effective (d+1)-dimensional
gravitational theory. The same condition has appeared in the holographic dual
of the "c-theorem" and our theorem suggests a deep connection between the two,
which was manifested in two-dimensional field theoretic proof of the both.Comment: 13 pages, v2: reference added, v3 some clarification adde
