Using Decomposition to Solve Facility Location/Fleet Managment Problems

The central thesis of this dissertation is that logic-based Benders decomposition can be effective in solving deterministic and stochastic facility location and fleet management prob- lems. We demonstrate this thesis by developing logic-based Benders decomposition models for a facility location/fleet management problem from the literature and for a stochastic extension of the problem. We experimentally show the effectiveness of logic-based Benders in solving such problems. To our knowledge, this is the first work on solving deterministic and stochastic facility location/fleet management problems using logic-based Benders decomposition.MAS
