Integrated analysis of copy number alterations and gene expression: a bivariate assessment of equally directed abnormalities
Motivation: The analysis of a number of different genetic features like copy number (CN) variation, gene expression (GE) or loss of heterocygosity has considerably increased in recent years, as well as the number of available datasets. This is particularly due to the success of microarray technology. Thus, to understand mechanisms of disease pathogenesis on a molecular basis, e.g. in cancer research, the challenge of analyzing such different data types in an integrated way has become increasingly important. In order to tackle this problem, we propose a new procedure for an integrated analysis of two different data types that searches for genes and genetic regions which for both inputs display strong equally directed deviations from the reference median. We employ this approach, based on a modified correlation coefficient and an explorative Wilcoxon test, to find DNA regions of such abnormalities in GE and CN (e.g. underexpressed genes accompanied by a loss of DNA material). Results: In an application to acute myeloid leukemia, our procedure is able to identify various regions on different chromosomes with characteristic abnormalities in GE and CN data and shows a higher sensitivity to differences in abnormalities than standard approaches. While the results support various findings of previous studies, some new interesting DNA regions can be identified. In a simulation study, our procedure also shows more reliable results than standard approaches. This is a system for displaying a set ofanatomical 3D computer models of regions of interest on display in the surgery. These anatomical models areobtained by a preliminary reconstruction based segmentation of medical images of such modalities as CT, MRI,PET, etc. Hardware and software system support surgery also includes motion-capture system designed for contactmanagement, through gestures of the operator, a set of 3D anatomical models on display. The system allows tocontrol the position of the set of 3D models, their scale and transparency of individual models and to navigatebetween sets of 3D models for various stages of the surgery

Inflammania 3D: Exploring the Use of the Metaverse Platform Roblox for Science Communication
3D metaverse platforms are gaining popularity in various fields as they facilitate the creation of social and immersive experiences. However, the potential of this emerging phenomenon for science communication has hardly been considered so far. Therefore, we developed a game on the metaverse platform Roblox that transfers knowledge about an innovative treatment for an autoimmune disease and examined how it is perceived by users. We conducted a user study based on think aloud protocols and a survey and investigated user enjoyment, perceived im- mersion, and perceived learning. The findings imply that science communication on metaverse platforms has the potential to convey complex scientific knowledge in a tangible, engaging, and cooperative manner and should be investigated further
On the physical nature of photon and the modeling of its wave function of free propagation in space and time
In the framework of quantum mechanics the physical nature of the photon is discussed. It is substantiated that a photon is a quantum quasiparticle, the free propagation of which must be considered taking into account the processes in a physical vacuum at Planck distances. For practical purposes on a macroscopic scale, the photon propagation can be modeled using the wave function (wave packet) normalized to the unit probability in the coordinate representation

The purpose of the work is to improve the management accounting system of a group of companies in terms of the formation of financial statements.
During the study, the theoretical aspects of management accounting were studied, as well as the methods and tools used in it. The role of management accounting in the information support of enterprise management is considered. The organizational and economic characteristics of the enterprise were carried out, in the framework of which the current organizational structure was reviewed and a financial analysis was carried out.
The current management accounting system of a group of companies is analyzed. Conducted financial analysis in two reporting forms
