There are many methods offered to teach in a university level. In teaching English Entrant, one course of general English courses at Binus University, a lecturer needs to choose an appropriate method. One appropriate method used is cooperative learning one. In this method, students in a class are divided into groups called cell group. In the cell group, they needed to do some activities independently. Based on the above reason, this paper aimed to find out whether the cell group independent activities impact the students’ score achievement in reading and listening. The data for the paper was the students’ scores of listening and reading they gained in mid semester test, final test English Entrant and the weekly reports of students’ cell activities. The method used to analyze the data was percentage number to compare the scores and cell group activities for both listening and reading. The result shows that there was a significant higher achievement of the students in both listening and reading either the number of cell group activities 1-3 or 4-6 times of activities. It could be concluded that the cell group activities gave good impact in supporting students to achieve high score in reading or listening

A critical factor in search, rescue or criminal investigation is time – specifically, the time needed to complete a big number of tasks that occur in any emergency. A critical asset in assisting disaster relief teams and public safety personnel in their mission to save lives and defend property loss is the access to resources data – location of personnel, emergency service resources, streets, buildings. The ability to locate resources, on foot or in vehicles, in relation to the local transportation infrastructure in a specific geographic area need to be considered in a new way of managing emergency situations. The TETRA based systems integrated with a wide range of mapping, tracking, alarming and resource-allocations applications used in conjunction with a dispatcher tool allows operational teams to manage a large ground, water and air-based emergency teams using voice and text communications.Public Safety, Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC), AIS, RIS, Air Traffic Management (ATM), Incident and Operative Scenarios, Operability, Efficiency

Well-posedness in vector optimization and scalarization results

In this paper, we give a survey on well-posedness notions of Tykhonov's type for vector optimization problems and the links between them with respect to the classification proposed by Miglierina, Molho and Rocca in [33]. We consider also the notions of extended well-posedness introduced by X.X. Huang ([19],[20]) in the nonparametric case to complete the hierchical structure characterizing these concepts. Finally we propose a review of some theoretical results in vector optimization mainly related to different notions of scalarizing functions, linear and nonlinear, introduced in the last decades, to simplify the study of various well-posedness properties.

ABSTRACT Yunita Melania. The Influence Socio Economic Family Conditions and Motivation to Learn Toward Learning Achievment of Economic on 11 th grade Student SMA N 77 Jakarta . Skripsi, Jakarta: Study Program of Economic Education, Cooperative Economics Education, Department of Economics and Administration, Faculty Economics, State University of Jakarta 2014. This research conducted to find out if there is Influence Socio Economic Family Conditions and Motivation to Learn of Learning Achievment of Economic on 11th grade Student SMA N 77 Jakarta. This research was conducted for two months starting April 2014 until May 2014. The research method used is survey method with causality approach. The study population was all 11th grade Student SMA N 77 Jakarta, amounting to 116 people. The sample used as many as 90 people using proportional random sampling. Y (Learning Achievment of Economic) data, X1 (Socio Economic Family Conditions), and X2 (Motivation to Learn) measured using questionnaire with using Likert scale. Techniques of data analysis using SPSS 17.0. from the result of Ftest, found that Socio Economic Family Conditions and Motivation to Learn simultaneously influence to Learning Achievment of Economic seen from Fcount (81,336) > Ftabel (3,10). Ttest result in tcount of X1 (Socio Economic Family Conditions) registration 7,637 and ttabel of 1,671, because tcount > ttabel then declared Socio Economic Family Conditions has significant direct influence on Learning Achievment of Economic. While tcount from X2 (Motivation to Learn) of 5,499 and ttabel 1,671, because tcount < ttabel then it can be inferred that there was a significant direct influence between Motivation to Learn of Learning Achievment of Economic. Based on the research path analysis, the magnitude of the influence of Socio Economic Family Conditions (X1) which directly on Learning Achievment of Economic (Y) is 0,298 or 29,8% and the effect was moderated by Motivation to Learn (X2 ) is 0,101% or 10,1%, so the total effect of X1 with Y is 0,399 or 39,9%. In addition to the magnitude of the effect of Motivation to Learn (X2) which is directly on Learning Achievment of Economic (Y) is 0,154 or 15,4%. Than a coefficient of determination (R 2 ) of test result obtained 0,652 or 65,2% which means that Y (Learning Achievment of Economic) determined by X1 (Socio Economic Family Conditions) and X2 (Motivation to Learn) for 65,2%. Conclussions of this study is that there are influences between Socio Economic Family Conditions and Motivation to Learn to Learning Achievment of Economic of 11th grade Student SMA N 77 Jakarta

Intermunicipal cooperation and privatization of solid waste services among small municipalities in Spain

The aim of this paper is to analyze the effects of intermunicipal cooperation and privatization on the delivery costs of urban solid waste services. The results of our empirical analysis, which we conducted among a sample of very small municipalities, indicate that small towns that cooperate incur lower costs for their waste collection service. Cooperation also raises collection frequency and improves the quality of the service in small towns. By contrast, the form of production, whether it is public or private, does not result in systematic differences in costs. Interestingly, the degree of population dispersion has a significant positive relation with service costs. No evidence of scale economies is found because, it would seem, small municipalities exploit them by means of intermunicipal cooperation.local government, intermunicipal cooperation, privatization, contracting-out, solid waste collection.

When Consumption Generates Social Capital: Creating Room for Manoeuvre for Pro-Poor Policies

Economic interactions are often accused of being neutral, or even of generating adverse effects, not only on the social fabric but also on a factor (social capital) which is regarded as the foundation of both socio-economic activity and prosperity. In this paper we document how a particular form of economic interaction (affiliation of marginalised producers to a first level association and to the fair trade import channel) has indeed positive effects on a specific type of social capital. Our findings on a sample of Kenyan farmers show that years of affiliation to Fair Trade significantly affect the participation in elections and the trust placed in trade unions, political parties and the government, net of the impact of other controls and after accounting for the selection bias effect. This implies that consumers buying fair trade products contribute to reinforce both social cohesion and the institutions in countries in which these variables are fundamental in creating room for manoeuvre for pro-poor (equity plus growth) policies.Fair trade, social capital, impact study
