Western or Russian influence? In their entablature of the iconostasis of the church of Agios Efstathios in the village of Krimini Voio there is an unorthodox icon of Pentecost with an image of the Virgin Mary. Here it is studied how and why this unorthodox depiction was adopted in Greece and to what extent. The subject has been studied extensively from a theological point of view. The conclusion that emerged is that the depiction of the Virgin Mary on Pentecost is incorrect and unacceptable based on the liturgical texts and the Creed (Symbol of Faith). However, the depiction of the Virgin Mary, which is a Western concept, passed through Orthodox Russia in Greece, but in limited numbers and did not prevail. The subject, of course, shows the close relationship of the Turkish-occupied Greek space with Russia and Russian art
