The Effect of The Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) Approach and The Initial Ability of Students on The Ability of Student Mathematical Connection
This study aims to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach and students' initial ability to mathematical connection skills of students in grade III of elementary school. The method used is the experimental method with 2x2 treatment by level design with 30 samples. Data analysis using two-way analysis of variance and followed by the Tukey test for the significance level α = 0.05. Test the normality of the data using the Lilliefors test and homogeneity test using the Bartlett test. The results of the study show that: 1). Mathematical connection skills in students taught by the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach are higher than students taught by conventional approaches. 2). There is an interaction between the use of the learning approach and the students 'initial ability to students' mathematical connection skills. 3).Ability of mathematical connection of elementary school students between students who study using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach that has a high initial ability higher than students who learn by using a conventional approach that has high initial abilities. 4) The mathematical connection ability of elementary school students between students who study with the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach that has low initial abilities is higher than students who learn with conventional approaches that have low initial abilities
An Evaluation Of A Community Based Mental Health Course In Indonesia
The present study was an evaluation of the impact of a community-based mental health course offered by the Perwitasari Mental Health Association, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A positive impact could not be assumed, in part because course participants are predominantly married women, and mental health education, with its Western orientation, can to some extent be in conflict with the traditional role of women in Javanese society.;A modified cross-over design was adopted for the evaluation. Three hundred married women recruited for the study were allocated at random to comparison groups of equal size. One group took the course of nine weekly two and one-half hour sessions of lectures and discussion, while the other group served as controls. The second group then took the course and the first group was followed. Home interviews were carried out prior to randomization and at the end of each course. Data analysis was based on 232 complete sets of interviews. The impact of the course was evaluated principally in terms of mental health status and marital relationships as a postulated intervening variable. An unsuccessful attempt was made to assess changes in knowledge and attitudes, and participants provided their own assessments of relevance and effectiveness.;Mental health status was assessed by the well-established Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90), and significant course-related improvements were found for participants whose initial scores were in the range that have been reported for psychiatric outpatients. There was also some evidence of a reduction in marital conflict, but uncertainty remained as to whether this reduction either contributed to, or resulted from, improved mental health. These and related results support the view that steps should be taken to encourage the participation of both husbands and wives in the course, and that there should perhaps, be a greater concentration on marital relationships and parenting. Steps should also be taken to make the course accessible to a broader cross-section of the population. The long-term follow-up of the participants is advocated, and it is suggested that further insight into the results of the present study might be gained by including measures of competence and self-esteem in any subsequent research
Problem-based learning: Its effect on higher-order mathematical thinking skills in terms of student's initial abilities and mathematical beliefs
The higher-order thinking ability of students in Indonesia is still in the low category. This research aims to see the effect of the application of a problem-based learning model on higher-order mathematical thinking skills in terms of student's initial abilities and mathematical beliefs. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Data on students' higher-order mathematical thinking skills were taken using a test instrument. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 27 Jakarta with a total of 165 students obtained from cluster random sampling. Based on the analysis of the three-way ANOVA test, it was found that the problem-based learning model had a positive effect on students' higher-order thinking skills. Problem-based learning model gives better results than conventional learning models. This also applies to students with the initial ability and mathematical beliefs in the high category. Problem-based learning can be an alternative for teachers to improve students' higher-order mathematical thinking skills.

Experiences of Senior High School Mathematics Teachers With Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) In Riau Islands Province-Indonesia
Higher-order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are essential for students, and teachers must properly train and handle them. This study aims to explain mathematic teachers' learning preparation and experiences, evaluate mathematic teachers' perception of HOTS, investigate mathematic teachers' efforts to improve HOTS for senior high school students in Riau Islands Province, Indonesia, and to find out students’ HOTS ability. One hundred and twelve senior high school mathematic teachers in the Province of Riau Islands were the sample of this survey. Experts validated the research instrument, which is in the form of an updated questionnaire. A descriptive statistic was used to evaluate the results (in percentage). The findings revealed that students' HOTS potential in Riau Islands Province is still lacking. The Riau Islands Province senior high school mathematic teachers did a good job of planning the class, but it was not done consistently. Some teachers did not completely plan the lessons according to the educational standards that were recommended. Teachers' most difficult challenge in raising student HOTS during the mathematics learning process was deciding on an engaging stimulus that was suitable for the nature of the material to be taught. The teachers' understanding of HOTS is sufficiently broad, and they believe that HOTS should be taught to students.Higher-order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are essential for students, and teachers must properly train and handle them.
THE EFFECT OF THE ONLINE-BASED M-APOS MODEL ON MATHEMATICS PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY REVIEWED FROM STUDENT'S SELF-ESTEEM
Mathematics is a difficult subject for most students, where students tend not to be able to solve problems on questions in the form of problem-solving such as description questions. Efforts can be made to increase student learning outcomes by applying the M-APOS learning model. This study investigates whether or not there is a significant effect of the M-APOS learning model on mathematical problem-solving abilities in terms of the self-esteem of East Jakarta Vocational School students Region II, 2021-2022 academic year. This study is an experimental study that compares the value of the experimental class using the M-APOS model with the value of the control class using the conventional model. The values are analyzed using the t-test, where the results of the t-test indicate that count = 15.736 and df= 82. Besides it was found that e = 1.989. The test criteria are that the 0 is rejected if count > e and it was found that 15.736 > 0.165. Based on the test results, the 0 is rejected. This means that there are differences in the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who receive the M-APOS learning model and those who receive conventional learning models
Development of a HOTS-Based Mathematical Abstraction Ability Instrument in Trigonometry Using Riau Islands Province Culture
The lack of available assessment tools that effectively measure students' ability to think abstractly in mathematics, particularly in trigonometry. Additionally, there is a need to incorporate local culture into the assessment instrument to make the content more relatable and relevant to students in Riau Islands Province. This study is a development study using the Define, Design, and Develop processes from the 4D development model that have been converted to 3D. 3 doctoral lecturers in mathematics education subsequently validate the instruments produced; they are modified in response to their feedback and recommendations. A team of 17 teachers and instructors of high school mathematics validated the results, followed by panelists' validation. The content Validity Ratio (CVR) index value on the panelist's validation of 25 items is greater equals to 0.765. The instrument has been tested on 20th-grade 10th high school students. The results show that the instrument can be used on a large scale, and the instrument with the cultural context of the Riau Islands Province enables students to break down complex problems into simpler components, identify relevant variables, and establish connections between them.
