The Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standard for Compulsory Education (2022 Edition) proposes to set the exercise load scientifically and cross-integrate physical education with various disciplines such as moral education, intellectual education, aesthetics and labour. Nowadays, China's education has entered the stage of connotative development, but there are still outstanding problems in teaching evaluation: influenced by the traditional concept of education, the selection function of the secondary school examination is over-expanded, the teaching evaluation is dominated by the outcome evaluation, focusing on intelligence and neglecting morality, and the only value orientation is scores and promotion, so that the students can't have a comprehensive development. The paper focuses on the core qualities of physical education, summarises the content of teaching evaluation under the core qualities of physical education, and puts forward the implementation strategy of physical education teaching evaluation. Aims to play teaching evaluation of sports teaching nurturing advantages, comprehensively promote the core literacy of junior high school students in the sports discipline high-quality development

A Study on the Subtitle Translation of Farewell My Concubine from the Perspective of Relevance Translation Theory

The subtitle translation of film and television works has been an important topic in the field of translation research because of its great market demand and its significance in cultural communication. The subtitle translation strategy of Farewell My Concubine, a world-renowned Chinese movie, has been studied by scholars in China, but no one has yet explored the contextual effects, information relevance and audience information processing efforts of its subtitle translation in relation to Relevance Translation Theory. A translation achieves optimal relevance when it enables the viewer to discover the meaning intended by the lines without effort and the meaning conveyed is worth the effort of the audience to achieve the appropriate effect. Based on the English translations of film clips by the MTI students in the Class of 2022 of the School of Foreign Languages at Hubei University of Technology, this paper analyses how different English translation strategies affect information transmission, contextual presuppositions, readers' reactions, and the artistic effect of the film in the light of Relevance Translation Theory. Finally, the paper summarizes the students' translation problems and draws lessons from this practice, aiming to contribute to the progress of subtitle translation in China, especially for cultural and artistic films

Party Membership and State Jobs in Urban China

The dual-track approach for transition would have to be facilitated by an endogenous movement of workers away from the state into private jobs. Yet, using the Chinese Household Income Project Series (CHIPs) data for the year 2002, we document preferences and premiums for state jobs in urban China over private jobs. The state sector attracted the best workers in more favorable industries and regions and offered higher earning premiums. In addition, family party membership is found to be instrumental in allocating workers into state jobs which explains a good deal of the earnings differentials in terms of an endogenous state premium

Estimating the External Returns to Education: Evidence from China

Using longitudinal data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey, we examine how individual wages change in line with the share of college graduates in a given province. The individual fixed effect model shows that the external returns to education in China appear to be zero. We estimate an instrumental variables fixed effects model where share of college graduates is instrumented by the number of universities with special status and find positive external returns to education of about 10 per cent to 14 per cent. We also find that the returns are affected by individual heterogeneity. While negligible returns are found for urban, women, and high-educated workers, the returns are positive and statistically significant for rural, men, and low-educated workers. This finding provides the motivation for increasing education investment in rural China and targeting it more toward poorly educated workers

Pedestrians do not always comply with the crossing rules of when and/or where to cross the road at signalized intersections. This risky behavior tends to undermine greatly the effectiveness of safety countermeasures at such locations. Thus, it is very important to understand illegal behavior to develop more effective and targeting measures. In order to address the problem, this paper aimed to analyze characteristics of illegal crossings and their impact on behavior choice. Firstly, illegal crossing behaviors at signalized intersections were classified into two categories, including “crossing at a red light” and “crossing outside of a crosswalk.” Secondly, two sets of data were collected to understand the behaviors. One set of data was collected from video-based observation conducted at 3 signalized intersections in Guangzhou, China, capturing 3334 valid illegal crossing cases in total. Another set of data, from a questionnaire survey conducted online, resulted in 275 valid responses. Finally, presentational characteristics of illegal crossings at signalized intersection were analyzed and two Bayesian network-based behavior models were developed to investigate the characteristics and their impacts on the two types of illegal crossing behaviors, “crossing at a red light” and “crossing outside of a crosswalk,” respectively. Findings reveal that, (i) illegal crossings occur at various types of signalized intersections, with a higher probability for “crossing outside of a crosswalk” compared to “crossing at a red light;” (ii) Arc routing crossing has the highest probability to occur at signalized intersections compared to other types of out-side-crosswalk crossings. (iii) The location of origin and destination of a pedestrian has a significant effect on crossing outside of a crosswalk, the location of origin and destination of “one is inside of a crosswalk and another is outside of a crosswalk” has a highest proportion. These findings provide better understanding of illegal crossings and their impact factors so that the effectiveness of management and control of pedestrians at signalized intersections can be improved

Broadband wireless communication systems: Channel modeling and system performance analysis

Wideband channel modeling, which can accurately describe the most important characteristics of wideband mobile fading channels, is essential for the design, evaluation, and optimization of broadband wireless communication systems. In the field of wideband channel modeling, the tradeoff between the prediction accuracy and simulation efficiency has to be taken into account. On one hand, channel models should be as accurate as possible. On the other hand, channel models are supposed to be simple and easy to put into use. There are several commonly used approaches to channel modeling, e.g., measurement-based channel modeling and deterministic channel modeling. Both methods are efficient in capturing the fading behavior of real-world wireless channels. However, the resulting channel models are only valid for the specific environments as those where the measurements were carried out or the ray-tracing scenario was considered. Moreover, these methods are quite time consuming with high computational cost. Alternatively, the geometry-based stochastic channel modeling approach can be employed to model wideband mobile fading channels. The most attractive feature of this method is that the derived channel models are able to predict fading behavior for various propagation environments, and meanwhile they can be easily implemented. Thus, the dissertation will complete the wideband channel modeling task by adopt the geometry-based stochastic approach. In the dissertation, several geometry-based channel models are proposed for both outdoor and indoor propagation scenarios. The significance of the work lies in the fact that it develops channel models under more realistic propagation conditions which have seldom been considered, such as for non-isotropic scattering environxi ments and mobile-to-mobile (M2M) fading channels. In addition, the proposed channel models remove the scarcity that proper geometry-based channel models are missing for indoor environments. The most important statistical properties of the developed channel models including their temporal autocorrelation function (ACF), the two-dimensional (2D) space cross-correlation function (CCF), and the frequency correlation function (FCF) are analyzed. Furthermore, efficient channel simulators with low realization expenditure are obtained. Finally, the validity of the proposed channel models is demonstrated by comparing their analytical channel statistics with the empirical ones measured from real world channels. Besides the work in the field of wideband channel modeling, another part of the dissertation is dedicated to investigate the performance of SISO1 orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) broadband communication systems and space-time (ST) coded MIMO2 OFDM broadband communication systems. This work provides a deep insight into the performance of a broadband mobile radio communication system over realistic wideband fading channels. Analytical expressions are derived for bit error probability (BEP) or symbol error rate (SER) of systems. In order to confirm the correctness of the theoretical results as well as to show the usefulness of the wideband channel models in the testing and analysis of a broadband communication system, SISO OFDM systems and space-time coded MIMO OFDM systems are simulated in the dissertation. In order to improve the reliability of digital transmission over broadband wireless radio channels, a differential super-orthogonal space-time trellis code (SOSTTC) is designed for noncoherent communications, where neither the transmitter nor the receiver needs the channel state information (CSI) for decoding. In addition, a new decoding algorithm is proposed. The new algorithm has exactly the same decoding performance as the traditional one. However, it is superior from the standpoint of overall computing complexity
