An exponential expansion method and its application to the strain wave equation in microstructured solids
AbstractThe modeling of wave propagation in microstructured materials should be able to account for various scales of microstructure. Based on the proposed new exponential expansion method, we obtained the multiple explicit and exact traveling wave solutions of the strain wave equation for describing different types of wave propagation in microstructured solids. The solutions obtained in this paper include the solitary wave solutions of topological kink, singular kink, non-topological bell type solutions, solitons, compacton, cuspon, periodic solutions, and solitary wave solutions of rational functions. It is shown that the new exponential method, with the help of symbolic computation, provides an effective and straightforward mathematical tool for solving nonlinear evolution equations arising in mathematical physics and engineering
Study on the effect of feeding different levels of energy in compound Pellet on performance of growing black Bengal Goat
Three different complete compound pellets containing different levels of energy, viz. SE (standard energy, ME content 10.28MJ/kg DM as per NRC, 1981), LE (low energy, ME content 9.25MJ/kg DM) 10% less ME and HE (high energy, ME content 11.30MJ/kg DM) 10% high ME than SE respectively, were prepared and fed to three groups of growing Black Bengal goats for evaluating feeding value. Completely randomized design was followed in the experiment. The effect of different levels of energy containing pellet on performance of goat was varied. Both dietary group SE and HE showed higher (p<0.01) weight gain, total CPI, total MEI, and better (p<0.05) FCR and PCR than dietary group LE and only dietary group HE showed higher (p<0.05) total DMI, MEI 100kg-1 LW d-1 and MEI kg-1W0.75 d-1 than LE and DMI kg-1W0.75 d-1 than SE and LE. Higher (p<0.01) digestibility of DM, OM, ADF, NDF and (p<0.05) CP and CF was observed in SE and HE and digestibility of NFE in HE was higher (p<0.01) than SE and LE. On the other hand, higher (p<0.05) digestibility of EE was observed in SE and LE. Digestible crude protein, TDN and D value were higher (p<0.01) in SE and HE. Digestible EE was highest (p<0.01) in LE and lowest in HE but digestible NFE was highest (p<0.01) in HE and
lowest in LE. Higher (p0.05) nitrogen retention was observed in SE and HE. Meat yield, selling price of meat, and total price was highest in HE and both SE and HE showed higher (p<0.01) value of the parameters than LE. Total rearing cost was highest (p<0.01) in HE and lowest in LE. Higher (p<0.05) net profit was obtained from SE and HE than LE. There was a positive correlation between increase of energy in dietary pellet and performance. It can be concluded that high energy containing pellet may be used for commercial Black Bengal goat production in stall feeding
Performance of growing black Bengal Goat Fed compound Pellet of different diameters
An experiment was conducted at Animal Nutrition Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh to observe the effect of different diameters of pellet diet on the performance of Black Bengal goat. Three diameter of a compound pellet diet such as D10, D8 and D6 (D10-10mm, D8-8mm and D6-6mm) were prepared according to NRC (1981) nutrient requirement and fed to goats of three groups. Insignificantly highest weight gain was observed in D10. Total Dry matter intake (kg), total crude protein intake (kg), metabolizable energy (MJ) intake (total, 100kg-1 LW d-1, kg-1W.75 d-1) and MEI/LWG (MJ/kg) were gradually increased with the decrease of pellet diameter but the difference of the parameters among the treatment groups were not significant (p>0.05). Both DM and CP intake (100kg-1LW d-1, kg-1W.75 d-1) were also increased with the decrease of diameter where D6 showed significantly (p0.05) CP and ADF digestibility value than D6. Digestibility of CF was highest in D8 but both D10 and D8 showed higher (p0.05) CP and D value in D10 and D8 than D6. Though nitrogen intake, outgo in feces and excretion in urine was highest in D6 and nitrogen retention was highest in D10 but the difference among the treatments was not significant (p>0.05). Dressing percentage, meat yield, price of meat, total sale price was insignificantly higher (p>0.05) in D10 and D8 and feed cost, total rearing cost, cost per kg weight gain and per kg meat yield was insignificantly higher (p>0.05) in D6. Highest profit was found in D10 and lowest in D6 and the difference was huge (Tk. 262.51) but did not differ significantly. It can be said that pellet with 10mm diameter may be used for economic goat production in stall feeding system
PRESUPPOSITION AND OTHERING IN A DYSTOPIAN NOVEL RED RISING
The researcher has analyzed the concept of Colonialism Discourse in a dystopian novel titled Red Rising using qualitative method to gather the data. Othering is used to explain the colonialism discourse in the novel. The researcher used Focault (1990) theory to describe how othering happened in the novel’s background story. Beside othering, presupposition is also used to gather the data. For the presupposition, the researcher used Yule (1996) theory which has six types of presupposition. The purpose of this research is how Othering which is part of colonialism discourse could happened in a dystopian novel which is a new genre in this modern era. By using presupposition to understand the othering concept in the novel, this research focused on the meaning of the utterances using the types of presupposition and how those presupposed meaning can give the pragmatics function in the concept of Othering. The researcher found that presupposed meaning of the utterances could help to determine the othering expression based on the context in the story. The researcher found that the most used presupposition is existential because it contains adjective pronouns to emphasize the characters’ thoughts or feeling to the readers. Other types of presupposition are existed in the story being viewed as the way the characters showed their identity as an individual in the society. As a dystopian novel which has some elements of colonialism discourse, Red Rising often uses humiliation to mock or underestimate other colors society. The researcher found that the othering expression used in this novel depicts the concept of colonialism literature about the oppressing leader in one social hierarchy. The totalitarian leader has created label to identify each individual with their own position and authority to gain easy access to control everything in the social system. In a word, othering has its own role in the colonized society by showing how the system of social hierarchy works in the story
Genetics of yield and its components in egg plant (Solanum melongena L.)
Inheritance study for yield and its components were conducted in five selected parents of brinjal namely MTE 1, MTE 2, Terung Bujur, Terung Telunjuk and NTH080077. Parents, F1 and F2 progenies were evaluated under field condition at MARDI, Serdang. Data on vegetative and yield components were recorded for parents F1 and F2 populations. Genetics study for inheritance were evaluated, and it showed that days to flower, fruit number per plant and fruit weight were observed as additive gene effect. Whereas, plant height and yield per plant were dominance gene effect. High heritability and high genetic advance were observed for fruit number per plant, fruit weight and yield per plant. Low and moderate phenotypic and coefficient of variations were observed for all traits. Moderate phenotypic and coefficient of variations were expressed by fruit number per plant, fruit weight and yield per plant. The selection of genotypes with high heritability coupled with genetic advance for these traits indicates the potential for crop improvement through selection

Short-range interactions in a two-electron system: energy levels and magnetic properties
The problem of two electrons in a square billiard interacting via a
finite-range repulsive Yukawa potential and subjected to a constant magnetic
field is considered. We compute the energy spectrum for both singlet and
triplet states, and for all symmetry classes, as a function of the strength and
range of the interaction and of the magnetic field. We show that the
short-range nature of the potential suppresses the formation of ``Wigner
molecule'' states for the ground state, even in the strong interaction limit.
The magnetic susceptibility shows low-temperature paramagnetic peaks
due to exchange induced singlet-triplet oscillations. The position, number and
intensity of these peaks depend on the range and strength of the interaction.
The contribution of the interaction to the susceptibility displays paramagnetic
and diamagnetic phases as a function of .Comment: 12 pages,6 figures; to appear in Phys. Rev.
Evaluation of Thymidylate Synthase Polymorphisms in ALL patients of Kashmir
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a malignant disorder of lymphoid progenitor
cells, affects both children and adults, with peak prevalence between the ages of 2 and 5
years, and is the most common paediatric cancer. Genetic susceptibility to leukemias can
be related to the polymorphisms in multiple genes and consistent with this paradigm;
several polymorphisms have been identified in the pathogenesis of lymphoid
malignancies. The enzyme encoded by Thymidylate Synthase (TS) gene is a crucial
enzyme in the folate metabolism and plays an important role in the DNA synthesis and
repair pathway. Impairments in this enzyme have been associated with chromosome
breaks and fragile site induction, which in turn have been associated with the
development of lymphoid malignancies including leukemias. The aim of the study was to
investigate whether the tandem repeat polymorphism in the TS promoter region is a risk
factor for the development of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in Kashmiri population. The
repeat polymorphism in the TS gene was evaluated in 72 ALL cases and 82 (age, sex and
region matched, non malignant) controls by PCR analysis of DNA obtained from the
blood of the subjects and direct sequencing of the PCR products. We observed that the
TS triple tandem repeat (3R) allele frequency was 73.75 % in the controls and 67.91% in
cases. This difference in frequency was found to be statistically insignificant with a P =
0.2713(P> .05). The TS 2R/2R genotype was found to be present in 13.88% of the cases
and 9.75% of the controls, the 2R/3R variant in 31.94% of the cases and 31.70% of
controls, and the 3R/3R genotype in 47.22% of cases and 56.09% of controls.
We observed that although the proportion of patients who were homozygous for the TS
tandem repeat(3R/3R) was lower in cases than in controls, the difference was not
statistically significant when using 2R/2R genotype as a reference (OR= 0.5913; 95% CI,
0.2111-1.657; P = 0.3143). Similarly, we observed the frequency of the heterozygous
genotype (2R/3R) when compared with 2R/2R genotype was not much different between
the cases and controls hence, statistically insignificant (OR=0.7077; 95% CI, 0.2389-
2.097; P= 0.5317). Thus, our study suggests that there is no association between TS
tandem repeat polymorphism and the development of ALL in Kashmiri population.
However these findings need to be substantiated with larger sample size to clarify the real
contribution of this gene in the susceptibility to ALL in different world populations

Electronic structure of rectangular quantum dots
We study the ground state properties of rectangular quantum dots by using the
spin-density-functional theory and quantum Monte Carlo methods. The dot
geometry is determined by an infinite hard-wall potential to enable comparison
to manufactured, rectangular-shaped quantum dots. We show that the electronic
structure is very sensitive to the deformation, and at realistic sizes the
non-interacting picture determines the general behavior. However, close to the
degenerate points where Hund's rule applies, we find spin-density-wave-like
solutions bracketing the partially polarized states. In the
quasi-one-dimensional limit we find permanent charge-density waves, and at a
sufficiently large deformation or low density, there are strongly localized
stable states with a broken spin-symmetry.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figures, submitted to PR
