### On 4d rank-one N=3 superconformal field theories

We study the properties of 4d N=3 superconformal field theories whose rank is
one, i.e. those that reduce to a single vector multiplet on their moduli space
of vacua. We find that the moduli space can only be of the form C^3/Z_k for
k=1,2,3,4,6, and that the supersymmetry automatically enhances to N=4 for
k=1,2. In addition, we determine the central charges a and c in terms of k, and
construct the associated 2d chiral algebras, which turn out to be exotic N=2
supersymmetric W-algebras.Comment: 24 page

### Galois Conjugation and Multiboundary Entanglement Entropy

We revisit certain natural algebraic transformations on the space of 3D topological quantum field theories (TQFTs) called “Galois conjugations.” Using a notion of multiboundary entanglement entropy (MEE) defined for TQFTs on compact 3-manifolds with disjoint boundaries, we give these abstract transformations additional physical meaning. In the process, we prove a theorem on the invariance of MEE along orbits of the Galois action in the case of arbitrary Abelian theories defined on any link complement in S . We then give a generalization to non-Abelian TQFTs living on certain infinite classes of torus link com- plements. Along the way, we find an interplay between the modular data of non-Abelian TQFTs, the topology of the ambient spacetime, and the Galois action. These results are suggestive of a deeper connection between entanglement and fusion

### Non-abelian anyons and some cousins of the Arad-Herzog conjecture

Long ago, Arad and Herzog (AH) conjectured that, in finite simple groups, the
product of two conjugacy classes of length greater than one is never a single
conjugacy class. We discuss implications of this conjecture for non-abelian
anyons in 2+1-dimensional discrete gauge theories. Thinking in this way also
suggests closely related statements about finite simple groups and their
associated discrete gauge theories. We prove these statements and provide some
physical intuition for their validity. Finally, we explain that the lack of
certain dualities in theories with non-abelian finite simple gauge groups

### Renormalization in General Gauge Mediation

We revisit General Gauge Mediation (GGM) in light of the supersymmetric
(linear) sigma model by utilizing the current superfield. The current
superfield in the GGM is identified with supersymmetric extension of the vector
symmetry current of the sigma model while spontaneous breakdown of
supersymmetry in the GGM corresponds to soft breakdown of the axial vector
symmetry of the sigma model. We first derive the current superfield from the
supersymmetric linear sigma model and then compute 2-point functions of the
current superfield using the (anti-)commutation relations of the messenger
component fields. After the global symmetry are weakly gauged, the 2-point
functions of the current superfield are identified with a part of the 2-point
functions of the associated vector superfield. We renormalize them by
dimensional regularization and show that physical gaugino and sfermion masses
of the MSSM are expressed in terms of the wavefunction renormalization
constants of the component fields of the vector superfield.Comment: 25 pages, 12 figure

### Argyres-Douglas theories, the Macdonald index, and an RG inequality

We conjecture closed-form expressions for the Macdonald limits of the super-conformal indices of the (A1, A2n − 3) and (A1, D2n) Argyres-Douglas (AD) theories in terms of certain simple deformations of Macdonald polynomials. As checks of our conjectures, we demonstrate compatibility with two S-dualities, we show symmetry enhancement for special values of n, and we argue that our expressions encode a non-trivial set of renormalization group flows. Moreover, we demonstrate that, for certain values of n, our conjectures imply simple operator relations involving composites built out of the SU(2)R currents and flavor symmetry moment maps, and we find a consistent picture in which these relations give rise to certain null states in the corresponding chiral algebras. In addition, we show that the Hall-Littlewood limits of our indices are equivalent to the corresponding Higgs branch Hilbert series. We explain this fact by considering the S1 reductions of our theories and showing that the equivalence follows from an inequality on monopole quantum numbers whose coefficients are fixed by data of the four-dimensional parent theories. ### From Supercurrents to Soft Terms

In this paper,hidden sectors of Ferrara-Zumino multiplets with contributions
to soft terms coming from quantum supergravity are investigated in framework of
gravity mediation. The two-point correlator of Ferrara-Zumino multiplets can be
parameterized, which implies the wave function renormalizations of components
fields in gravity supermultiplet can be evaluated in relatively simple form.
Soft terms are calculated via supercurrent approach. We find gaugino masses are
independent of sfermion masses on general grounds. The unification of gaugino
masses is not universal. In comparison with general gauge mediation, there are
no sum rules for sfermion masses of each generation.Comment: v3, 9 p

### Conformal manifolds in four dimensions and chiral algebras

Any N = 2 superconformal field theory (SCFT) in four dimensions has a sector of operators related to a two-dimensional chiral algebra containing a Virasoro sub-algebra. Moreover, there are well-known examples of isolated SCFTs whose chiral algebra is a Virasoro algebra. In this note, we consider the chiral algebras associated with interacting N = 2 SCFTs possessing an exactly marginal deformation that can be interpreted as a gauge coupling (i.e., at special points on the resulting conformal manifolds, free gauge fields appear that decouple from isolated SCFT building blocks). At any point on these conformal manifolds, we argue that the associated chiral algebras possess at least three generators. In addition, we show that there are examples of SCFTs realizing such a minimal chiral algebra: they are certain points on the conformal manifold obtained by considering the low-energy limit of type IIB string theory on the three complex-dimensional hypersurface singularity x_1^3 +x_2^3+ x_3^3+ αx1x2x3 + w^2 = 0. The associated chiral algebra is the A(6) theory of Feigin, Feigin, and Tipunin. As byproducts of our work, we argue that (i) a collection of isolated theories can be conformally gauged only if there is a SUSY moduli space associated with the corresponding symmetry current moment maps in each sector, and (ii) N = 2 SCFTs with a ≥ c have hidden fermionic symmetries (in the sense of fermionic chiral algebra generators).M.
