Insert in the field of communications history, this article questions the conditions and characteristics assumed in Chile the international initiative of the Good Press (BP), driven by the Vatican since the late nineteenth to mid-twentieth century. In the same assumptions that BP was an action to modernize the global communication are supported Catholic and appropriate participation strategy in the emerging field communication began to take place where disputes and control the influence of public opinion legal and not legal in the early twentieth century in Chile. Finally, this release is the initial part of a series of three papers on Chilean BP, where we will develop various empirical aspects of its implementation

For the Hygiene of the Soul. The Pastoral Reading in the Chilean Catholic Church in the early Twentieth Century

In the first decades of the Twentieth century, the conformation of the reading public space in Chile led the leaders of secular and religious Catholics to launch print production initiatives not only to rival hostile communications emanating from areas such as faith, culture and politics, but, simultaneously, to point out what, how much and how it should be read by the population, especially by the believer part of the society. With this, it was intended to give a kind of complement closing to the communication strategy of the so called "Buena Prensa" (Good Press), and also as an authoritative guidance of how supporters of the true faith should deal with the latest news and threat of modern times. Based on the consultation of various written interventions of civil and ecclesiastical officials at the time, this article attempts to set some of the most relevant topics of the mentioned form of forearm and guide the reading system considered adequate and aligned to the Christian moral conscience

The Spanish republican song in the militant musical tradition of the Chilean left of century XX

Based on public (electronic and printed) secondary sources, this work provides some background on the influence that the Spanish Republican song of the times of the Civil War and the subsequent anti-Franco resistance had on the political culture of the Chilean left of the century. XX. It is postulated that this cantoral aspect played a notorious role in at least three areas: first, promoting and strengthening the adhesion of sectors of the national left to the Spanish democratic and republican cause; second, strengthening the internationalist emancipatory perspective of various militant and non-militant groups; and, third, acting as a precedent for the development of the political-musical movement that will accompany the transforming project of the Unidad Popular

Search for dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks in √s = 13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

A search for weakly interacting massive particle dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks is presented. Final states containing third-generation quarks and miss- ing transverse momentum are considered. The analysis uses 36.1 fb−1 of proton–proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at √s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016. No significant excess of events above the estimated backgrounds is observed. The results are in- terpreted in the framework of simplified models of spin-0 dark-matter mediators. For colour- neutral spin-0 mediators produced in association with top quarks and decaying into a pair of dark-matter particles, mediator masses below 50 GeV are excluded assuming a dark-matter candidate mass of 1 GeV and unitary couplings. For scalar and pseudoscalar mediators produced in association with bottom quarks, the search sets limits on the production cross- section of 300 times the predicted rate for mediators with masses between 10 and 50 GeV and assuming a dark-matter mass of 1 GeV and unitary coupling. Constraints on colour- charged scalar simplified models are also presented. Assuming a dark-matter particle mass of 35 GeV, mediator particles with mass below 1.1 TeV are excluded for couplings yielding a dark-matter relic density consistent with measurements
