    Content curation and journalism: exploratory scoping review and expert opinion

    Este trabajo recoge una revisi贸n sistematizada, en forma de scoping review, sobre curaci贸n de contenidos y periodismo. Para ello, en primer lugar, se analiza la producci贸n cient铆fica sobre el proceso de curaci贸n de contenidos en medios de comunicaci贸n con el objetivo de conocer el impacto acad茅mico de dichos estudios, identificar sus caracter铆sticas y determinar su evoluci贸n acad茅mica. En segundo lugar, se analiza el banco de documentos resultante para conocer las tem谩ticas y tipos de estudios realizados. Y, en tercer lugar, se realizan entrevistas semiestructuradas a los investigadores resultantes de la scoping review. Los resultados confirman que 2020 fue el a帽o con m谩s publicaciones acad茅micas en esta 谩rea. En lo que se refiere al contenido de las investigaciones destacan los estudios sobre curaci贸n de contenidos y nuevos formatos period铆sticos, curaci贸n en redes sociales y herramientas online, curaci贸n algor铆tmica y curaci贸n de contenidos y desinformaci贸n, entre otros. Por 煤ltimo, los datos obtenidos de las 13 entrevistas permiten, por un lado, ampliar los conocimientos sobre la definici贸n de curaci贸n de contenidos en periodismo y su aplicaci贸n en la empresa period铆stica actual y futura y, por otro lado, conocer ejemplos de referencia sobre curaci贸n de contenidos en el sector period铆stico.This work uses the scoping review format to embrace a systematic review of content curation and journalism. This initially entailed an analysis of scientific studies on the process of content curation in the media with a view to establishing their academic impact, identifying their characteristics, and determining their academic evolution. Having established the subjects and the types of studies performed, the resulting document bank was then analysed. Next, semi-structured interviews were held with the researchers who emerged from the scoping review. The results show 2020 to be the year in which the greatest number of academic works were published in this area. Research content notably included studies on content curation and new journalistic formats, curation on social media and online tools, algorithmic curation and content curation and misinformation. Lastly, the data from the 13 interviews helped both to expand knowledge of what content curation in journalism is and to understand its application in current and future journalism work, as well as yielding some benchmark examples of content curation in journalism.Este trabajo forma parte del proyecto 鈥淧ar谩metros y estrategias para incrementar la relevancia de los medios y la comunicaci贸n digital en la sociedad: curaci贸n, visualizaci贸n y visibilidad (CUVICOM)鈥. It also deals with aspects such as how to respond to peer review evaluations and how to disseminate the article once it has been published. The intended audience is trainee researchers and especially doctoral students who have chosen to carry out a thesis by compendium of publications. However, any researcher, junior or senior, will surely find several elements of interest in this work. It is also appropriate to add that the main academic background is that of social sciences in general and communication studies

    Use of generative artificial intelligence in the training of journalists: challenges, uses and training proposal

    Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already integrated into news production strategies in some media outlets. Recently, generative AIs like ChatGPT and others have demonstrated their ability to enhance productivity in content production tasks, raising the question of how journalism faculties can address this new technology. This paper presents an academic study on the application of AI in higher communication studies. The study involved 4 in-depth interviews and 28 semi-structured interviews with university lecturers and researchers. The findings confirm varying degrees of convergence and divergence on different aspects of the technology, including the integration of AI in communication faculties, student training in AI usage, the introduction of AI and journalism as a subject area, and the potential uses of AI in news production and consumption. Additionally, this paper proposes a comprehensive training program on AI and journalism, focusing on its foundations, technical competencies, and ethical considerations

    MAXQDA is one of the most representative programs of a type of software called " Computer-Aided Qualitative Data Analysis" or CAQDAS, for its acronym in English. It is often used for coding and qualitative analysis of interviews and other types of textual information. This work aims to be a practical guide for researchers in the specific case of the use of MAXQDA for the qualitative analysis of interviews.
