    In recent months, different groups--pundits, politicians, and even an FCC Commissioner--have discussed resurrecting the now-defunct Fairness Doctrine and applying it to Internet communication. This iBrief responds to the novel application of the Doctrine to the Internet in three parts. First, this iBrief will review the history and legal rationale that supported the Fairness Doctrine, with a particular emphasis on emerging technologies. Second, this iBrief applies these legal arguments to the evolving structure of the Internet. Third, this iBrief will consider what we can learn about Net Neutrality through an analogy to the Fairness Doctrine. This iBrief concludes that, while the Fairness Doctrine is not appropriate to use on the Internet in its present form, the arguments for the Doctrine could affect the debate surrounding Net Neutrality, depending on how the Obama Administration implements Net Neutrality

    Lifting a Conformal Field Theory from D-Dimensional Flat Space to (D+1)-Dimensional Ads Space

    A quantum field theory on Anti-de-Sitter space can be constructed from a conformal field theory on its boundary Minkowski space by an inversion of the holographic mapping. To do this the conformal field theory must satisfy certain constraints. The structure of operator product expansions is carried over to AdS space. We show that this method yields a higher spin field theory HS(4) from the minimal conformal O(N) sigma model in three dimensions.     Imaging with a spherical mirror in empty space is compared with the case when the mirror is filled with the medium of Maxwell's fish eye. Exact time-dependent solutions of Maxwell's equations show that perfect imaging is not achievable with an electrical ideal mirror on its own, but with Maxwell's fish eye in the regime when it implements a curved geometry for full electromagnetic waves

    The authors of the Comment [G. M. D'Ariano and C. Macchiavello to be published in Phys. Rev. A, quant-ph/9701009] tried to reestablish a 0.5 efficiency bound for loss compensation in optical homodyne tomography. In our reply we demonstrate that neither does such a rigorous bound exist nor is the bound required for ruling out the state reconstruction of an individual system [G. M. D'Ariano and H. P.
