New source for L-iditol and taxanes
We describe the first report of the recovery of L-iditol and Taxane from an angiosperm- Yunnanopilia longistaminata (W.Z.Li) C.Y.Wu et D.Z.Li (Opiliaceae). Two taxane compounds and L-iditol were isolated from the tender burgeon of Yunnanopilia longistaminata, and their structure were identified as Taxayunnansin B, Taxumairol E and L-iditol on the basis of NMR and MS spectrum, respectively. It is a new plant source for L-iditol and taxanes
Design optimization of TBM disc cutters for different geological conditions
A novel optimization methodology for the disc cutter designs of tunnel boring machines (TBM) was presented. To fully understand the characteristics and performance of TBM cutters, a comprehensive list of performance parameters were investigated, including maximum equivalent stress and strain, specific energy and wear life which were closely related to the cutting forces and profile geometry of the cutter rings. A systematic method was employed to evaluate an overall performance index by incorporating objectives at all possible geological conditions. The Multi-objective & Multi-geologic Conditions Optimization (MMCO) program was then developed, which combined the updating of finite element model, system evaluation, finite element solving, post-processing and optimization algorithm. Finally, the MMCO was used to optimize the TBM cutters used in a TBM tunnel project in China. The results show that the optimization significantly improves the working performances of the cutters under all geological conditions considered
Analyzing Productivity Growth: Evidence from China’s Manufacturing Industries
This article examines the growth attributes of manufacturing industries in China for the sample period of 1999-2007. All manufacturing industries are grouped into and four main industry groups and four geographical regions. A revised Solow’s growth method is used to decompose the growth attributes into input growth, scale effect, technical progress, and technical efficiency change. A stochastic frontier model is applied to the translog production function. The empirical findings show a strong presence of technical progress, while labor input has rapidly been replaced by human capital. Structural transformation in the industrial sector is evident, so as regional imbalances.China industries, productivity, efficiency, technical progress, stochastic frontier model
Impact of A Rising Chinese Economy and ASEAN’s Responses
The emergence of China as one of the largest trading nation provides challenges and opportunities to its neighboring ASEAN countries. In the face of the rise of China, there were concerns that ASEAN economies may be adversely affected. One of the concerns is that the world export markets of labor intensive goods will be threatened if China turns into the world low cost manufacturing workshop. Meanwhile, trade between China and ASEAN countries increased dramatically during the past decade. Not surprisingly, China’s accession to WTO and the future establishment of a Free Trade Area (FTA) between ASEAN and China will further change the trade relations between the two areas. The paper analyses the past trade patterns between China and ASEAN countries and find out the impact of the FTA on ASEAN countries, in particular, the impacts to specific industries in each individual country. Secondly, the paper also examines the ever increasing role of foreign direct investment between the two regions and finally, it analyzes the possible policy responses of the ASEAN countries and consequences of these policies.ASEAN trade policy, rising Chinese economy
Measuring corporate M&A performance from a two-dimensional perspective of economic and social benefits
With the development of digital economy, Chinese companies have set off waves of M&A boom. The current mainstream methods of measuring corporate M&A are based on corporate finance level such as event study method and financial analysis method. Based on the literature research method, this paper points out the problems of the relatively single perspective and narrow scope of the measurement of M&A based on corporate finance. To this end, this paper uses the hierarchical analysis method (AHP) to comprehensively measure the economic and social benefits of M&A enterprises from the perspective of corporate finance and social contribution, constructs a corporate M&A performance evaluation model, and establishes a corresponding evaluation index system to promote a more comprehensive, scientific and reasonable measurement of M&A enterprise performance and promote sustainable development of enterprises
