Subcontracting principles of interaction between enterprises of different sizes at a regional level

This paper reviews peculiarities of interaction between enterprises of different sizes at a regional level in Russia on the basis of subcontracting. It defines basic conditions and organizational forms of such interaction related with circumstances of regional economic development. The paper also presents a comparison of American and Japanese subcontracting models considering possibility of borrowing certain specific features for the Russian conditions. It lists stable structures of interaction between small- and large-sized enterprises considering possibility of changing roles in integration schemes. Residual resistivity due to wedge disclination dipoles in metals with rotational plasticity

The residual resistivity $\rho$ in metals caused by wedge disclination dipoles is studied in the framework of the Drude formula. It is shown that $\rho\sim L^{-p}$ with $p=3$ for biaxial and $p=2$ for uniaxial dipoles ($L$ is a size of dipole arm)Comment: 12 pages, 2 figure

Heterarchy of general intellect

This paper explores the problem of General Intellect, which is analysed in the post-Operaismo intellectual movement. Reflecting the thinking of A. Negri, M. Lazzarato, P. Virno, M. Pasquinelli and others, General Intellect is given here as a synonym of society’s cognitive capacity that could either provide liberation from capitalism or be exploited by it. In this paper General Intellect is represented as a property of a social connection structure, called heterarchy. As a connection structure, heterarchy forms different kinds of singularities – finite objects composed of multiple social ties. These aggregations are made by statistical repetitions of relations and individual agents that make values through their goal setting and other intellectual activity. The main argument of the article is that although General Intellect may denote capacity for society’s self-organization, it is difficult to identify it with only one particular institutional organisation or political regime. Mode Properties of Flat-top Silver Nano-ridge Surface Plasmon Waveguides

We investigate surface plasmon modes supported by flat-top silver nano-ridges. We calculate the mode electromagnetic field distribution, the dispersion curve, the travel range, and the figure-of-merit of the nano-ridge mode. We find that the nano-ridge surface plasmon modes are quasi-TEM modes with longitudinal field components three orders of magnitude smaller than the transverse field components. The quasi-TEM nature of mode profiles reveals that the propagation of free electron oscillations on the top of the nano-ridge contributes mainly to the tightly confined ridge mode. We also find that as the width of the nano-ridge decreases, the ridge mode becomes more tightly confined on the ridge top.
