ãããŠãããThis is a case study of an excellent steady and sound management company in Taiwan - âDelta Electronicsâ (Delta). Delta was established as a small factory with only 15 employees in 1971, then, has continuously developed and become a large corporate group with about 87 thousand employees and the revenue of US$ 7.3 billion in the world. Its main products are various electric and electronic parts & components including switching power supplies, motors, electric fans, and so on. In recent years, it has actively promoted electric energy management solution business. The foundation of its continuous development is a steady and sound management style, which is derived from the management philosophy of Mr. Bruce C. H. Cheng, the founder of Delta. This study tries to examine its management in detail through dividing it into two aspects: (a) steadiness as a manufacturing company (i.e. the shift and diversification of main products, overseas evolution, and R&D) and (b) soundness in corporate management (i.e. the control of corporate group, human resource management, and environmental management). The main findings are as the following. In regard to (a), Delta showed good practices such as commitment to R&D and quality control, quick and attentive service for clients, and international customer development from the beginning. Then, it has steadily developed the product lineup in response to the successive rises of various application product markets (e.g. home appliances, ICT, green energy products, automation machines, green buildings, EV, and so on). As examples of its steady management style, I mention some practices such as the utilization of technological synergy, the development of higher valueadded and more profitable products, and continuous effort for improvement of products. Regarding (b), this study reveals a well-developed mechanism for integrating globally-allocated group companies/branches, various devices and programs for promoting employeesâ capability and ingenuity, and earnest and comprehensive commitment to environmental management. Among these, environment management is seen as a critical element for realizing Deltaâs corporate principles - âenvironment protection, energy conservation, Earth protectionâ, which is a substantial mission statement for the company. In addition, I analyze the management revolution which started in earnest in 2017. It is pointed out that one of the purposes of this revolution is to grasp business changes brought by the rise of next generation industries such as industry 4.0, big data, 5G, EV and so on, besides the existing environmental energy business. Especially, smart manufacturing solution is expected to become one of the core businesses for this company in the future. Another purpose of this revolution is to deal with intensified competition, especially with fast-growing rivals from China such as Huawei
