SUSY Higgs Searches at the LHC
Searches for the Higgs bosons of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model are discussed at the LHC in the CMS and ATLAS experiments. Results are presented for the scenario which maximizes the mass of the lighter scalar Higgs boson. Low integrated luminosity is assumed
TraĆŸenje teĆĄkog Higgsovog bozona u kanalu H â ZZ â 4l ± pomoÄu CMS detektora
We investigate possibilities of search for the Standard Model Higgs boson in the H â ZZ â 4l ± channel in the upper mass reach in the Compact Muon Solenoid detector (CMS). By using appropriate cuts on the data, it was found that CMS can detect Higgs boson up to the mass of about 750 GeV at â„ 5Ï significance level with the designed integrated luminosity of 105 pbâ1 . The mass reach extends to about 850 GeV at 3 · 105 pbâ1 .Ispitujemo moguÄnosti za traĆŸenje Higgsovog bozona prema Standardnom modelu u kanalu H â ZZ â 4l ± u podruÄju osjetljivosti za velike mase Kompaktnog mionskog solenoidnog (CMS) detektora. Primjenom pogodnih rezova naĆĄli smo da se pomoÄu CMS detektorskog sustava mogu opaziti Higgsovi bozoni do mase oko 750 GeV na razini pouzdanosti â„ 5Ï, uz pretpostavku integralnog luminoziteta od 105 pbâ1 . Za 3 · 105 pbâ1 mogli bi se opaziti bozoni do mase 850 GeV
ProuÄavanje H â ZZ â 4â ± pomoÄu cjelovite geant simulacije detektora CMS
We study the detection of H â ZZ â 4â ± in the CMS detector at the nominal LHC energy â s = 14 TeV and the possibility for an early detection at a reduced energy â s = 10 TeV. A systematic study of the multiâlepton mass resolution is performed, including effects of internal and external radiation through detailed GEANT simulations. At â s = 14 TeV, an integrated luminosity of 104 pbâ1 allows exploration at a â„ 5Ï significance level a mass range from mH â 2mZ up to mH â 400 GeV. For 105 pbâ1 , the mass reach is about 650 GeV. At â s = 10 TeV, an integrated luminosity of 104 pbâ1 does not provide a 5Ï significance level for any value of Higgs mass, and 2 Ă 104 pbâ1 alows one to explore a mass range from mH â 2mZ to â 350 GeV at â„ 5Ï level.

Does Fertility Respond to Financial Incentives?
There has been little empirical work evaluating the sensitivity of fertility to financial incentives at the household level. We put forward an identification strategy that relies on the fact that variation of wages induces variation in benefits and tax credits among "comparable" households. We implement this approach by estimating a discrete choice model of female participation and fertility, using individual data from the French Labor Force Survey and a fairly detailed representation of the French tax-benefit system. Our results suggest that financial incentives play a notable role in determining fertility decisions in France, both for the first and for the third child. As an example, an unconditional child benefit with a direct cost of 0.3% of GDP might raise total fertility by about 0.3 point
Search for Higgs Bosons in SUSY Cascades in CMS and Dark Matter with Non-universal Gaugino Masses
In grand unified theories (GUT), non-universal boundary conditions for the
gaugino masses may arise at the unification scale, and affect the observability
of the neutral MSSM Higgs bosons (h/H/A) at the LHC. The implications of such
non-universal gaugino masses are investigated for the Higgs boson production in
the SUSY cascade decay chain gluino --> squark quark, squark --> neutralino_2
quark, neutralino_2 --> neutralino_1 h/H/A, h/H/A --> b b-bar produced in pp
interactions. In the singlet representation with universal gaugino masses only
the light Higgs boson can be produced in this cascade with the parameter region
of interest for us, while with non-universal gaugino masses heavy neutral MSSM
Higgs boson production may dominate. The allowed parameter space in the light
of the WMAP constraints on the cold dark matter relic density is investigated
in the above scenarios for gaugino mass parameters. We also demonstrate that
combination of representations can give the required amount of dark matter in
any point of the parameter space. In the non-universal case we show that heavy
Higgs bosons can be detected in the studied cascade in parameter regions with
the WMAP preferred neutralino relic density.Comment: LaTeX (svjour, rotating, multirow, url, subfig, psfrag), 18 pages, 36 eps
