Tungro disease in Indonesia has infected crops on a large scale in the 1960s. This disease causes a decrease in crop production by up to 80%, it can even cause puso. Line testing is one of the stages of the long process of creating a variety. The advanced yield test is the final stage of testing a line before the multi-location test is carried out. The purpose of this study was to select tungro-resistant promising rice lines that have high yield potential. In this study, there were 9 test lines used, with the comparison variety Mekongga, which were designed using a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 3 replications. The results showed that the parameters of panicle number, panicle filled grain, panicle empty grain, and dry milled grain production were not significantly different between the comparison varieties and the nine lines tested. The comparison varieties showed that the plant height, weight of 1000 seeds and panicle length were significantly higher than the test lines.     Pengaruh Self Efficacy terhadap Kinerja Pegawai pada Sekretariat Komisi Pemilihan Umum Daerah (Kpud) Kabupaten Luwu Timur

    This research was conducted to determine the effect of self-efficacy on employee performance at the Secretariat of the Regional General Election Commission (RGEC) of East Luwu Regency. This research is quantitative descriptive with data collection methods through observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The number of respondents in this research were 28 employees. The tools of data analysis in this research is a simple linear regression analysis using SPSS version 20. From the results of the t test analysis shows the value of t count (4,233)  > t table (1,706)  and the significance value of 0,000 < 0.05, so it can be concluded that Self Efficacy has a positive and significant effect on performance employee at the Secretariat of Regional General Election Commission (RGEC) of East Luwu Regency. The higher of self efficacy that is owned by an employee, then the more performance will increase.Keywords: Self Efficacy, Employee Performanc

    Ketahanan 50 galur harapan padi terhadap penyakit tungro

    Green leafhoppers is the main vector for tungro disease infection. Tungro is a rice disease which is characterized with stunted plants, yellow orange leaves, and a reduced number of tillers. The research aimed to determine the resistance of 50 rice lines to tungro disease. This research was conducted in Augmented Design with 5 blocks. The observation was held on 50 expected tungro resistant rice lines, with 2 check varieties, Inpari 36 and Ciherang. Experiment in field were included observation on number of imago and nymph green leafhoppers for each line test during 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks after planting, and the incidence of tungro infection. Leaf which indicated tungro infection was isolated for its DNA and PCR analysis at the virology  laboratory of the tungro disease research station. The results showed that the number of green leafhopper (imago and nymph) for the  43 test lines were less than the check varieties of 5% LSI test. The incidence of tungro was very low in the field. The results of the PCR test showed that the rice line infected by tungro virus was only rice line number 7. Thus, there are 43 promizing lines that can be recommended for future research to obtain tungro resistant varieties.ABSTRAK Wereng hijau merupakan vektor utama penyebaran penyakit tungro. Tungro merupakan penyakit padi dengan ciri utama tanaman kerdil, daun berwarna kuning oranye, dan jumlah anakan berkurang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ketahanan 50 galur padi terhadap penyakit tungro. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan augmented yang terbagi dalam 5 blok. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap 50 galur padi harapan tahan tungro, dengan 2 varietas cek, yaitu Inpari 36 dan Ciherang. Penelitian di lapangan meliputi pengamatan terhadap jumlah imago dan nimfa wereng hijau pada masing-masing galur uji selama 2, 4, 6 dan 8 minggu setelah tanam, serta insidensi serangan tungro. Sampel daun tanaman yang terindikasi terserang tungro diuji untuk mengkonfirmasi keberadaan virus tungro secara molekuler dengan isolasi DNA (PCR) dan RNA (RT/PCR) di laboratorium virologi Loka Penelitian Penyakit Tungro. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 43 galur uji yang signifikan lebih sedikit jumlah wereng hijau (nimfa dan imago) dibanding varietas cek pada uji LSI 5%. Insidensi tungro sangat rendah di lapangan. Hasil uji PCR menunjukkan bahwa galur uji yang terinfeksi virus tungro RTSV hanya galur nomor 7. Dengan demikian, terdapat  43 galur yang direkomendasikan pada penelitian berikutnya untuk memperoleh varietas tahan tungro

    PENGARUH APLIKASI PUPUK SILIKA DALAM PENGENDALIAN TUNGRO

    Tungro adalah salah satu penyakit penting pada padi, yang disebabkan oleh dua jenis virus, yaitu Rice Tungro Bacilliform Virus (RTBV) dan Rice Tungro Spherical Virus (RTSV), melalui vektor wereng hijau (Nephotetic virescens). Tingginya intensitas pertanaman menyebabkan keseimbangan unsur hara semakin berkurang, termasuk unsur silika (Si). Pemberian pupuk silika dengan dosis yang tepat dapat meningkatkan kesuburan tanah dan menyebabkan tanaman lebih tahan terhadap serangan hama penyakit. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji pengaruh pemberian pupuk silika dalam pengendalian penyakit tungro. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan faktorial dua faktor. faktor pertama yaitu dosis pemberian pupuk silika (kontrol, NPK dosis umum digunakan petani, 1/3 NPK + 1 lt si, 1/3 NPK + 3 lt si, 1/3 NPK + 5 lt si), faktor kedua adalah penggunaaan varietas (inpari 36 dan TN1). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi pemberian dosis pupuk silika dan varietas tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua parameter pengamatan, kecuali pada hasil gabah.     Penelitian ini membahas tentang kejenuhan belajar dalam penerapan learning from home di SMA Negeri 1 Majene. Kajian utama dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) Gambaran kejenuhan belajar siswa kasus berinisial SPR selama learning from home di SMA Negeri 1 Majene. (2) Faktor-faktor apa saja yang menimbulkan kejenuhan belajar pada siswa kasus berinisial SPR selama learning from home di SMA Negeri 1 Majene. (3) Apa dampak kejenuhan belajar yang dialami siswa kasus berinisial SPR selama learning from home di SMA Negeri 1 Majene (4) Bagaimana peran guru BK dan orang tua dalam mengatasi masalah kejenuhan belajar pada siswa kasus berinisial SPR selama learning from home di SMA Negeri 1 Majene. Pendekatan pada penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus non klinis. Subjek penelitian dipilih secara purposive sampling. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan triangulasi. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh yaitu: (1) Gambaran kejenuhan belajar yang dirasakan selama learning from home oleh siswa kasus berinisial SPR di SMA Negeri 1 Majene meliputi merasa bosan, merasa lelah, tidak mengerjakan tugas, menjadi malas belajar dan merasa tidak kompeten. (2) Faktor-faktor yang menimbulkan kejenuhan belajar selama learning from home yaitu karena metode pembelajaran yang terlalu monoton, tuntutan belajar yang terlalu membebani, deadline tugas yang terlalu cepat, dan materi yang sulit dipahami. (3) Dampak dari kejenuhan belajar selama learning from home yang dirasakan oleh siswa SPR yaitu berdampak pada kondisi fisik dan hasil belajarnya selama learning from home (4) Upaya yang dilakukan oleh guru BK dan orang tua untuk mengatasi masalah kejenuhan belajar selama learning from home yaitu dengan memberikan layanan bimbingan klasikal, kunjungan rumah, dan mengundang siswa untuk datang ke sekolah melakukan kegiatan pembelajaran agar terdapat perbedaan suasana belajar yang dialami selama learning from home.     THE EFFECTIVENESS OF STORY TELLING AND STORY READING METHODS IN TEACHING SPEAKING

    This research aims to find out the effectiveness of story telling and story reading methods in teaching speaking. The researchers applied comparative study method which aims at finding out the comparative effectiveness between the application of storytelling and story reading method in teaching speaking skill. The researchers apply experimental design that involves two groups; storytelling and story reading method in pretest, treatment and posttest. The subject in this research will consist of the 2nd semester students of Speaking 2 class of STKIP YPUP Makassar. There would be two variables in this research, independent and dependent variable. The independent variable is the effectiveness of story reading and story telling, while the dependent variable includes the students’ speaking ability. The result shows that there is no method which more effective between storytelling and story reading methods in teaching speaking. This conclusion refers to the overall of the students’ speaking achievement score. But based on the speaking categories investigations namely accuracy, fluency and comprehensibility, the storytelling method is more effective in increasing the students’ accuracy and fluency in speaking, while the story reading method is more effective in improving the students’ comprehensibility

    Translation Analysis: Syntactic, Semantic, and Pragmatic Strategies Used in Translating A Website of an Academic Institution

    This research aims to discover the emerging translation strategies and the types of translation strategies most frequently used on a website of an academic institution. In finding the data, the researcher employs the descriptive qualitative method by applying the translation strategy theory proposed by Andrew Chesterman in the form of syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic strategies on a website of an academic institution such as the Universitas Hasanuddin website. There are 11 emerging translation strategies on the website; 4 Syntactic Strategies (Literal, Loan/Calque, Transposition, and Phrase Structural Change), 4 Semantic Strategies (Synonymy, Hyponymy, Distribution Change, and Pharaprase), and 3 Pragmatic Strategies (Explicitness Change, Information Change, and Transediting). The result shows that the most frequently used translation strategy is Syntactic Strategies (Literal 60% or 44 data, Loan/Calque 23% or 17 data, Transposition 8% or 6 data, and Phrase Structural Change also 8% or 6 data). Then the second one is Semantic Strategies (Synonymy 7% or 1 datum, Hyponymy 7% or 1 datum, Distribution Change 64% or 9 data, and Pharaprase 21% or 3 data), and last is Pragmatic Strategies (Explicitness Change 8% or 1 datum, Information Change 85% or 11 data, and Transediting 8% or 1 datum)

    Pengaruh Cekaman Kekeringan dan Umur Panen Terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Kandungan Xanthorrhizol Temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza roxb.)

    The research was conducted from November 2005 until May 2006 to determine growth and production of the Curcuma xanthorrhiza based on agronomical, physiological variables, and bioactive (xanthorrhizol) content.  The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with two factors and three replications.  The first factor consisted of 4 level of drought stress i.e: 100% field capacity (FC) (as control), 50% FC started at 2 weeks before harvesting (wbh),  50% FC started at 4 wbh,  and 50% FC started at 6 wbh.  The second factor comprised of 2 harvest times i.e. 5 months and 7 months.  The result showed that drought stress decreased plant growth and productivity, but increased accumulation of proline.  The harvesting time significantly increased the agronomic character, but did not significantly increase proline content.  The older samples contained more xanthorrhizol than the younger samples.   Key words: Curcuma xanthorrhiza, drought stress, harvesting time, plant growth,  xanthorrhizol

    Formations effect of brass plate anode on electroplating thickness uniformity: case study on wheelchair headrest

    Uniformity of coating thickness in the electroplating process of cylindrical objects using plate-shaped anodes has become a challenging issue. One electroplating method uses a cylindrical anode. However, this strategy is too expensive and requires a lot of material. This paper determines the effect of brass plate anode formation on the headrest thickness uniformity of the electroplating brass coating on the headrest connector of electric wheelchairs made of St. 37. The research started by making headrest connector using a turning machine, then plating the brass using the electroplating method, and then testing the thickness of the resulting brass for uniformity of data using statistics. The number and placement of the plate anodes varied with 2 symmetrical position anodes, 3 symmetrically spaced anodes, and 4 symmetrically positioned anodes. Coating thickness was measured using a digital microscope with a magnification of 200 times. Before measuring the thickness of the coating, the surface of the joint is milled first to remove any chamfer on the top surface of the body and the cover headrest connector. The surface is smoothed using sandpaper and cleaned using etching. Data from the uniformity test results show the highest level of uniformity in the variation of 4 anodes on the body and the cover of the headrest connector, followed by variations on the 3 anodes on the body and the cover of the headrest connector, and variations of 2 anodes on the body and the cover of the headrest connector. The greater the number of anodes and their placement around the cathode, the higher the thickness uniformity of the resulting brass electroplating layer.
