Feeding, mating, and fecundity data and analysis for T. eriodictyonis
Original data collected by Katherine Gould. Excel 2013 file (.xlsx). Clarifying notes can be found withing the spreadsheets. In general, Et refers to Eriodictyon trichocalyx and Ec refers to Eriodictyon crassifolium. Mating treatments (e.g. Et-Ec) use male's plant then female's plant code
Colonization events according to study group.

Risk factors for pneumococcal co-colonization in univariate and multivariate analysis.
c
Fisher's exact test (Monte Carlo estimation with 10,000 simulations), except when indicated.
d
Multivariate logistic regression.
e
Kolmogorov-Smirnov test.
f
not available for variables that are continuous or have more than two classes.
g
test applied to all day-care centers simultaneously.
h
results are only shown for unit F as the results for other units were not significant.
i
includes unvaccinated children from pre-PCV7 and PCV7 era.</p
Serotype against observed absolute densities of pneumococcal serotypes.

Serotype against observed absolute density for samples where a single serotype or strain was identified in the microarray (A) and for all samples (B). The red dots denote individual measurements of density. In the box and whisker plots, for each serotype, the central line denotes the median of the distribution, the box edges denote upper and lower quartiles and the whiskers extend 1.5 times the interquartile range past the quartiles. The black dots denote outliers (also shown in red), and the dotted vertical line marks the overall median as a guide to the eye. Numbers of measurements for each serotype are shown to the right of the y axis. Boxplots are ordered by median value, from lowest (bottom) to highest (top) of the solo serotypes in both panels.</p
Distribution of carriage density for serotype.

Kernel Density plot showing the distribution of density plotted for different numbers of distinct serotypes recovered per child. The density of carriage does not differ with the number of serotypes found.</p
Serotype density against relative abundance.

Serotype density against observed relative abundance. For each serotype, the median density is plotted against the relative abundance as a percentage of the entire sample, and horizontal lines denote interquartile ranges. Coloured symbols denote individual serotypes.</p
Frequency of co-colonization in the three study groups.

Frequency of co-colonization in the three study groups.</p
Individual serotype distribution of single and co-colonized samples from the pre-PCV7 and PCV7 eras.

Non-vaccine serotypes with an absolute frequency <5 in the PCV7 era were grouped as “others”. These include serotypes 8, 9L, 9N, 13, 15A, 17F, 18A, 18F, 19B, 19C, 22F, 24F, 29/35B, 31, 33A/33F, 34, 38, 42, 33B-like, 35A/C, 36/15B-like, and 39-lik. *Observed frequency in co-colonization is significantly lower than expected.</p
Single and co-colonization events by vaccine-types (VT) and non-vaccine types (NVT) in the three study groups.

*Statistically significant differences (p = 0.004; Fisher's exact test).</p
