Antun MihanoviÄ i Svetogorska legenda
Sava Hilandarac, monk and librarian of the Hilendar monastery, in his book āThe History and Description of Hilendarā, accuses the Croatian poet, Antun MihanoviÄ that in the course of 1840, on occasion of his visit to Mount Athos, requested from the Hilendar monks to allow him access to the old manuscripts, and he never returned them. Although this accusation was wholly refuted by Vladimir MoÅ”in, still the fact remains that MihanoviÄ, if not on Mount Athos, but in Macedonia, did take possession of some monastery manuscripts in a manner that cannot be depicted as being honourable. His contemporaries bear witness to this, in particular the Macedonian educator and writer, Jordan Hadži Konstantinov-Äinot, who in several places in his discussions and accounts on his travels, emphasizes MihanoviÄ as an usurper of the Macedonian cultural heritage. The accusations against MihanoviÄ call for a reply to the question, did he sometimes ādishonorablyā, collecting the literary and historical records, help or hinder the Macedonian, Serbian and Bulgarian literary heritage? The author of this article holds that, if we take into consideration the unbearable situation and for manuscripts the dangerous climate that prevailed at that time in the southern parts of the Balkans, MihanoviÄ\u27s efforts as a collector, regardless of his methods, was in essence for a purpose that was noble, useful, fruitful and sublim
Literary Creation on The Island of KorÄula In The 19th Century
Dug talijanskoj kulturi i
Pozne godine 19. stoljeÄa, odnosno kretanje spram predromantizma, romantizma i predrealizma, vidljive su u skromnim književnim i estetskim vrednotama književnih proznih uradaka Stjepana Kastrapelija i Petra FranasoviÄa.
The literary process on KorÄula during the 19th century reflects the spirit of the alienated and estranged Dalmatia that struggled for its Croatian language and literature in the Croatian languageduring that whole century, in which it finally succeeded. We see the debt to Italian culture and literature in KorÄula in the occasional and laudatory poetry of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, which is mainly in the spirit of the Italian occasional poetry, in which the form of thesonnetdominates. Among the important names who published their works at that time, there are no, unfortunately, more important literary names. The only exception is Nikola Å paniÄ, an alienated and rebelling literate. In the later years of the 19th century, the most important names are those of Stjepan Kastrapeli and Petar FranasoviÄ. Although the value of their prose texts is rather modest, we can detect in them the movements towards pre-romanticism, romanticism and pre-realism. If we want to answer the question whether KorÄula responded to the challenges of time, especially in terms of literary reception, we can answer affirmatively, but with very modest literary yields, which is more of a literary-historical and much less aesthetic importance
A Fragment from the KorÄula Literary Heritage at the Example of Darinka KrstuloviÄ
Darinka KrstuloviÄ is a poet and prose writer who imposes herself as one of the leading āKorÄula pensā. With her poetic procedure, full of irony, satire and true emotive expression, she departs from the island poetic micro cosmos. This modest contribution can be understood as an example that masters of pen can mature even on small islands and isolated island milieux
MUNITY, OFTEN THEME OF THE ARTIST FROM KORÄULA
Mutiny of the Crnomir brothers from a little place called Cara on the island of KorÄula against the Venetian torture was often the theme of the artist from KorÄula. The purpose of this work is to present the achievements of the artists in dealing with this theme in their works
