Ethnoscience learning: how do teacher implementing to increase scientific literacy in junior high school
Ethnoscience learning is an activity that connects local wisdom or cultural with science concepts. A mixed method study with an embedded design was used to describe how do teachers apply ethnoscience learning to increase scientific literacy. A total of 90 students grade 8th in District Muaro Jambi were involved in this study consisted of three classes. In-depth interviews and observations were conducted to collect qualitative data. The observation was used to determine the suitability of learning with the lesson plan. Deep interviews were used to explore teacher and student experiences in implementing ethnoscience learning. A teacher and three students were randomly selected as key informants. The quantitative data were collected by scientific literacy test that consisted of ten multiple choices. It has been tested for validity and reliability. The result of the reliability test is 0.85 with a very high category. Increase in scientific literacy is measured by normalized gain (N-gain). The analysis of variance (ANOVA) test was applied to determine scientific literacy differences between groups. Ethnoscience learning had been implemented by teacher in three different class on topic simple machines. It was designed by integrating local wisdom as a context for finding scientific concepts. The learning was designed by following a discovery model. The implementation of ethnoscience learning can increase scientific literacy with medium category. There was no significant difference between three classes
PELATIHAN PENGEMBANGAN PERANGKAT PEMBELAJARAN KURIKULUM MERDEKA TERINTEGRASI ETNOSAINS PADA GURU DI SMAN 8 TANJUNG JABUNG TIMUR
ABSTRAKDalam konteks Kurikulum Merdeka, ditekankan pentingnya menggabungkan unsur-unsur kearifan lokal dalam proses pembelajaran, yang bertujuan untuk mendukung pencapaian profil pelajar yang sesuai dengan prinsip Pancasila. Oleh karena itu, guru diharapkan untuk mempersiapkan materi pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan Kurikulum Merdeka, yang mengintegrasikan elemen-elemen kearifan lokal. Namun, dalam praktiknya, masih terdapat temuan di lapangan, khususnya di Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Timur, di mana beberapa sekolah, seperti SMAN 8 Tanjung Jabung Timur, masih menggunakan bahan ajar yang mengacu pada kurikulum sebelumnya dan belum mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal atau aspek etnosains. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah melatih guru-guru di SMAN 8 Tanjung Jabung Timur agar dapat mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran kurikulum merdeka yang mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal atau aspek etnosains. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pelatihan yang terdiri dari tiga tahapan, yakni persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Kegiatan pelatihan ini diadakan pada tanggal 7 Agustus 2023 di SMAN 8 Tanjung Jabung Timur. Hasil dari pelatihan ini adalah guru-guru SMAN 8 Tanjung Jabung Timur dapat memahami dengan baik konsep dan teknik penyusunan perangkat pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan Kurikulum Merdeka, yang mengintegrasikan elemen-elemen kearifan lokal atau aspek etnosains dalam proses pembelajaran. ABSTRACTIn the context of the Independent Curriculum, the importance of combining elements of local wisdom in the learning process is emphasized, which aims to support the achievement of student profiles in accordance with the principles of Pancasila. Therefore, teachers are expected to prepare learning materials that are in accordance with the Independent Curriculum, which integrates elements of local wisdom. However, in practice, there are still findings in the field, especially in East Tanjung Jabung Regency, where several schools, such as SMAN 8 East Tanjung Jabung, still use teaching materials that refer to the previous curriculum and have not integrated local wisdom or ethnoscience aspects. The aim of this community service activity is to train teachers at SMAN 8 Tanjung Jabung Timur to be able to develop independent curriculum learning tools that integrate local wisdom or ethnoscience aspects. The method used in this activity is a workshop, which consists of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. This training activity was held on August 7, 2023, at SMAN 8 Tanjung Jabung Timur. The result of this training is that the teachers of SMAN 8 Tanjung Jabung Timur can understand well the concepts and techniques for preparing learning tools that are in accordance with the Independent Curriculum, which integrates elements of local wisdom or ethnoscience aspects in the learning process. PENDAMPINGAN PENYUSUNAN PERANGKAT PEMBELAJARAN BERBANTUKAN ALAT PERAGA TERINTEGRASI APLIKASI TRACKER BERBASIS TEKNOLOGI SENSOR DI SEKOLAH BINAAN SMKS ASY’ARIYYAH DAN SMPS ISLAM ASY’ARIYYAH
ABSTRAKDi era Pendidikan 4.0 saat ini, diperlukan inovasi dalam perancangan dan pelaksanaan percobaan fisika yang terintegrasi dengan teknologi agar pembelajaran dapat berjalan dengan lebih efektif dan menarik bagi siswa. Namun masih ditemukan sejumlah sekolah khususnya di Kabupaten Muaro Jambi yang menggunakan merancang dan melaksanakan percobaan secara konvensional serta belum memanfaatkan teknologi, seperti SMKS Asy’ariyyah dan SMPS Islam Asy’ariyyah Muaro Jambi. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memberikan pendampingan kepada guru-guru di kedua sekolah tersebut dalam menyusun perangkat pembelajaran fisika berbantukan alat peraga terintegrasi aplikasi Tracker dan teknologi sensor. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah workshop yang terdiri dari tiga tahapan, yaitu persiapan Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 16 Agustus 2022 dan hari kedua tanggal 20 Agustus 2022. Setelah melakukan kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan perangkat pembelajaran terintegrasi aplikasi Tracker dan teknologi sensor, guru- guru SMPS Islam Asy’Ariyyah dan SMKS Islam Asy’Ariyyah sudah terlatih dalam membuat perangkat pembelajaran terintegrasi aplikasi Tracker dan teknologi sensor. ABSTRACTDuring the covid 19 pandemic and plus the new variant of the omicron virus, learning is still carried out online in order to avoid covid 19, to anticipate that experiments in class can be carried out properly, a learning tool must be designed using props integrated with a tracker application based on sensor technology. During the Covid-19 pandemic, teachers and students are required to implement health protocols in learning, teachers are required to develop learning tools in the classroom. Digital-based science learning has not been widely applied in schools. Teachers still have difficulty developing learning tools assisted by props integrated with sensor technology-based tracker applications. The method used in this activity is demonstration, counseling, discussion, training and practice delivered by the service team to teachers of Asy'Ariyyah Islamic Junior High School and Asy'Ariyyah Vocational School, this activity was carried out on August 16, 2022 and the second day on August 20, 202. Service activities are very much needed for schools, with this service activity teachers are motivated and there is additional insight in teaching integrated learning devices for tracker applications and sensor technology and getting inspiration for teachers to make integrated learning devices for tracker applications and sensor technology. After conducting training activities for making integrated learning devices for tracker applications and sensor technology, Asy'Ariyyah Islamic Junior High School teachers, Asy'Ariyyah Islamic Vocational High School have been trained in making integrated learning devices for tracker applications and sensor technology. Respon Peserta Didik Terhadap Penggunaan Buku Elektronik IPA Berbasis Model PBL (Problem Based Learning)
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang bertujuan untuk melihat respon peserta didik terhadap buku elektronik IPA berbasis model PBL (Problem Based Learning). Responden pada penelitian ini berjunlah 39 orang peserta didik kelas VIII SMPN 11 Muaro Jambi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik memberi respon sangat praktis terhadap buku elektronik IPA materi gerak dan gaya berbasis model PBL, dengan nilai rata-rata 3,7 untuk aspek tampilan, 3,56 untuk aspek penyajian materi, 3,64 untuk aspek kebermanfaatan
Agen Penggerak Permainan Tradisional: Solusi mengurangi Kecanduan Gadget Pada Anak
The use of gadgets can cause addiction and have a negative impact on the health and psychological development of children. The solution to overcome this problem was through outdoor learning based on local wisdom of traditional games. This activity aims to form an agent for driving traditional games to reduce the use of gadgets for children in the District of Pelayangan. The method of implementing activities was in the form of socialization, training and assistance to prospective agents who drive traditional games. The targets of the activities were students at SDN 04 / IV and SDN 10 / IV Jambi City. The activity was carried out in July-September 2020. The evaluation was carried out by giving questionnaires to participants to determine the success of the activity. The results of this activity indicated that students at SDN 04 / IV and SDN 10 / IV Jambi City preferred traditional games. Based on the results of the questionnaire, data on the frequency of using gadgets decreased from an average of 25 hours/week to 17 hours/week. Through traditional games, students interact more frequently with peers. This activity also increases knowledge about traditional games. This traditional game also trains students' social skills and character such as cooperation, hard work, honesty, sportsmanship, obeying rules, dexterity, accepting defeat, and responsibility
Scientific literacy and science learning achievement at junior high school
Scientific literacy is the ability which must be owned by the students to analyze and apply the concept of science in solving daily life problem. This research aims to know the correlation between scientific literacy and science learning achievement at State Junior High Schools. This research used a quantitative approach with correlational type. The population of this research were 428 grade IX students at State Junior High Schools within the District of Jaluko Muaro Jambi. The samples was 138 students. The technique of selecting samples was random sampling. The instruments used were the test of science literacy and the test of science learning achievement. Hypothesis test was conducted by using rank spearman correlation test with the assistance of SPSS 21. The results show the average score of scientific literacy is 33.7 (medium category) and the average score of science learning achievement is 21.5 (very low category). The result of the correlation test obtains Sig value 0.00 then Ho is rejected. It can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between scientific literacy and science learning achievement at State Junior High School within Muaro Jambi District. Science learning is expected to develop students’ science literacy so that it can improve science learning achievement
