Self-optimized Coverage Coordination in Femtocell Networks
This paper proposes a self-optimized coverage coordination scheme for
two-tier femtocell networks, in which a femtocell base station adjusts the
transmit power based on the statistics of the signal and the interference power
that is measured at a femtocell downlink. Furthermore, an analytic expression
is derived for the coverage leakage probability that a femtocell coverage area
leaks into an outdoor macrocell. The coverage analysis is verified by
simulation, which shows that the proposed scheme provides sufficient indoor
femtocell coverage and that the femtocell coverage does not leak into an
outdoor macrocell.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figure
Experimental and theoretical study of parasitic leakage/resonance in a K/Ka-band MMIC package
In this paper, electromagnetic leakage and spurious resonances in a K/Ka-band (18-40 GHz) MMIC hermetic package designed for a phase shifter chip are studied using the finite element method (FEM) and the numerical simulation results are compared with measured data. Both in measured and calculated data several spurious resonances are observed in the 18 to 24 GHz region and the origin of this phenomenon is identified by virtue of the modeling capability of the FEM
Using the CLEAN Method in Three-Dimensional Polarimetric ISAR Imaging Based on Volumetric Scattering Points
We developed a new technique for generating three-dimensional monostatic inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) images using various types of polarimetric information on targets. To remove clutter around a target, we adopted the CLEAN method, in which only the main signals were reconstructed using an iterative algorithm. We conducted a simulation as follows: electric field data that were subjected to polarimetric scattering were obtained for the target using a full-wave electromagnetic analysis simulator. The linear polarization data of a 2 × 2 matrix were compressed into the linear to circular polarization data of a 2 × 1 matrix using the Jones vector based on circular polarization. On the grounds of the post-processed data, inverse Fourier transform was carried out to map scattering points to the spatial domain, after which the CLEAN method was used to retain only the primary scattering points
Theoretical and Experimental Study of Microstrip-to-Slot Line Uniplanar Transition
Recent advances in MMCI technology make it possible to construct transitions from CPW-to-microstrip with via hole, microstrip-to-slot line and microshield line-to-CPW all of which have potential applications in the feed network of antennas. In this study we investigate the characteristics of the microstrip-to-slot line uniplanar transition using the finite element methods (FEM) and finite difference time domain (FDTD) techniques, and compared the theoretical results with the measurements. In both cases, the results agree with the measurements within a few percent

Radio-Frequency Biosensors for Real-Time and Continuous Glucose Detection
This review paper focuses on radio-frequency (RF) biosensors for real-time and continuous glucose sensing reported in the literature, including our recent research. Diverse versions of glucose biosensors based on RF devices and circuits are briefly introduced, and their performances are compared. In addition, the limitations of the developed RF glucose biosensors are discussed. Finally, we present perspectives on state-of-art RF biosensing chips for point-of-care diagnosis and describe their future challenges
