Mass spectrometric and knudsen-cell vaporization studies of group 2B-6B compounds
The vaporization of the nine compounds of Zn, Cd and Hg with S, Se and Te has been investigated by mass spectrometry. The typical process is the decomposition into gaseous metal atoms and diatomic group 6B molecules. Small amounts of polymeric species of sulphur were observed in the vapour above HgS and considerable amounts of polymeric selenium molecules above HgSe; HgTe yields Hg(g) and solid Te. No gaseous group 2B-6B molecules were observed; their concentration is below 1 part in 103-105. Estimates of dissociation energies are made and the possibility of observing these molecules is discussed. Decomposition pressures of all nine compounds were measured by the Knudsen method and corresponding enthalpy and entropy data deduced and compared with literature data. The heat of vaporization of lead has been remeasured. The heats of atomization of the group 2B-6B compounds are compared with those of isosteric compounds and elements, and the trends are discussed.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

The current period is characterised by border apparatuses equipped with increasingly sophisticated mechanisms of control and surveillance, and by the erecting of physical barriers that aim at achieving absolute separation. The contributions to the present issue, however, show the continuity of circulations and the ordinariness of transgressions. Flows of persons, ideas, goods and capitals have never been as intense and commonplace as today and this despite attempts at closing borders or establishing systems of sorting. These multiple flows circulate through a variety of channels, some of them institutional, some “informal” or illegal, and very often through hybrid modes of progression. In every domain, the constraints established at and by the border generate strategies of circumvention and resistance, create pressures for inventiveness and stimulate exchanges.Building on a variety of case studies, the present issue analyses the modernity of the social worlds built around the borders. It shows that despite attempts at ordering, paradoxes and confusions proliferate more than ever in the borderlands, with shady traffics, actors involved in webs of surprising alliances, as well as highly complex and puzzling political practices  Nuestra Ă©poca se caracteriza por dispositivos fronterizos dotados de mecanismos de control y de vigilancia cada vez más elaborados y por la construcciĂłn de barreras fĂsicas que buscan el hermetismo absoluto de la separaciĂłn.
