The high demand for nursing work to encounter death or disease, dealing with a high volume of work in a short amount of time, working under intense pressure, and ignoring established authority all contribute to the high levels of stress on nurses. The undisputable significance of emotional intelligence in the sphere of nursing education has led in a rapid increase in the number of emotional intelligence courses and training program that offer a broad range of educational different outcomes to the students. There is a lack of studies regarding to improve teaching and learning in Libyan nursing educational institutions. Quite a few emotional intelligence (EI) assessment studies were found that simply contain criteria and dimensions of EI in the literature study. The aim of this study is to review the emotional intelligence studies in nursing education. This evaluation encompasses a range of publications released throughout the time frame of 2019 to 2023. The findings showed that there is a need for including emotional intelligence program in curriculum of nursing education. In addition, the findings indicated that EI intervention program could boost student academic achievements and alleviate work stress to nurse profession. The discussion chiefly emphasizes on the contemporary issues that are being confronted by the field, as well as the openings for research that exist in the area

Effects of canning temperature and period on the proximate composition of oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) and the functional properties of its brine

    Get PDF
Canning is a method for preserving perishable items, including edible mushrooms. However, the high temperatures applied during canning result in nutritional degradation and leaching into the brine. This study measured the proximate composition of oyster mushrooms after canning at three different temperatures (116, 121, and 126 °C) and periods (25, 30, and 35 minutes). Foaming capacity, foaming stability, and emulsion capacity tests were performed to establish the brine’s functional qualities, while the SDS-PAGE technique was used to identify the molecular weight of the proteins. The results demonstrated that the canning temperature and period significantly reduced the protein and fat levels of oyster mushrooms (p 30 minutes of the canning process exhibited improved foam formation (60 - 83 %) and the greatest stability (p < 0.05). Gel electrophoresis revealed that the proteins in the brine solution had a molecular weight of less than 120 kDa. Thus, the nutritional composition of oyster mushrooms was significantly influenced by the temperature and period of the canning process. The formation of stable aerated bubbles also demonstrated the efficacy of the brine in preserving the mushrooms despite some nutrient loss

Dengue death with evidence of hemophagocytic syndrome and dengue virus infection in the bone marrow

INTRODUCTION: HPS is a potentially life-threatening histiocytic disorder that has been described in various viral infections including dengue. Its involvement in severe and fatal dengue is probably more common but is presently under recognized. CASE DESCRIPTION: A 38-year-old female was admitted after 5 days of fever. She was deeply jaundiced, leukopenic and thrombocytopenic. Marked elevation of transaminases, hyperbilirubinemia and hypoalbuminemia were observed. She had deranged INR values and prolonged aPTT accompanied with hypofibrinogenemia. She also had splenomegaly. She was positive for dengue IgM. Five days later she became polyuric and CT brain image showed gross generalized cerebral edema. Her conditions deteriorated by day 9, became confused with GCS of 9/15. Her BMAT showed minimal histiocytes. Her serum ferritin level peaked at 13,670.00 µg/mL and her sCD163 and sCD25 values were markedly elevated at 4750.00 ng/mL and 4191.00 pg/mL, respectively. She succumbed to the disease on day 10 and examination of her tissues showed the presence of dengue virus genome in the bone marrow. DISCUSSION AND EVALUATION: It is described here, a case of fatal dengue with clinical features of HPS. Though BMAT results did not show the presence of macrophage hemophagocytosis, other laboratory features were consistent with HPS especially marked elevation of ferritin, sCD163 and sCD25. Detection of dengue virus in the patient’s bone marrow, fifteen days after the onset of fever was also consistent with the suggestion that the HPS is associated with dengue virus infection. CONCLUSIONS: The findings highlight HPS as a possible complication leading to severe dengue and revealed persistent dengue virus infection of the bone marrow. Detection of HPS markers; ferritin, sCD163 and sCD25, therefore, should be considered for early recognition of HPS-associated dengue

About 95% of the demand for smoked Roa fish in the province of Gorontalo comes from outside the region. The Roa fish smoking industry provides the remaining 5% in Boalemo Regency. These conditions are affected by the lack of production capacity, production facilities, and capital owned by small businesses. This study aims to analyze the current needs of the small-scale Roa smoking industry, conduct financial feasibility analysis, and formulate a development strategy for the small-scale Roa fish smoking industry. The research method used was qualitative and quantitative research with data collection techniques in interviews, documentation, and SWOT analysis. The feasibility of the Roa smoking industry was determined through the NPV, IRR, BCR, PP, and BEP values. Based on the results obtained from SWOT analysis, it was found that the strength-opportunity strategy had the highest score. Policies to support this development strategy are creating brands and labels, improving cooperative relationships with existing partners and networks, and taking advantage of the abundant availability of raw materials to increase production capacity. In addition, it was also found that the lack of processing facility can be overcome and develop diversification or through assistance from the government or other agencies. It was also found that diversification of processed products derived from smoked Roa fish can become an important strategy. Other significant findings from this study were the demands for the product were high, and the industry could not keep up with the needs, the Roa smoking industry is investment-worthy, and the right strategy to develop this industry should be based on the Strength-Opportunity strategy.</jats:p

Comparing Generalized Linear Model of Count Data: Application towards Pteridophyta species

Pteridophyta is known as “paku-pakis” in Malay and it is one the flora species that exists in ecological system. Besides, Pteridophyta is one of the species that need to be preserved. Either flora or fauna, both are very important to preserve the ecosystem and control the pollution. In order to observe the species, the fundamental unit of all diversity metrics is a count of specific individuals. In some consequences, the uncorrected counts of observed species often used in measuring the diversity which ignore detection together and established methods to be used to account for missed species. Analysis of count data is widely used in engineering, public health, epidemiology, medical studies, ecology and many research of interest. Rarity increases the number of locations with zero detection in excess of those expected under simple models of abundance. The aims of this study are to compare the Generalized Linear Model (GLiM) in the application of Pteridophyta species of count data.  </jats:p
