Versailles State Park, Ripley County, Indiana

The land for Versailles State Park was acquired by the National Park Service in 1935. During the Great Depression Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) workers lived and worked on the site at the beginning of the park’s development. It became a state park in 1943.Ripley County Journe

Muscatatuck State Park (now Muscatatuck Park), North Vernon, Indiana

Muscatatuck State Park was opened in 1921 as Vinegar Mills State Park. It was a state park until the mid-1950s when it became a game farm. In 1968, the state gave the park to the county, stipulating that it had to continue to be used for recreation.Jennings County Journe
