    High-precision RCS measurement of aircraft’s weak scattering source

    AbstractThe radar cross section (RCS) of weak scattering source on the surface of an aircraft is usually less than −40dBsm. How to accurately measure the RCS characteristics of weak scattering source is a technical challenge for the aircraft’s RCS measurement. This paper proposes separating and extracting the two-dimensional (2D) reflectivity distribution of the weak scattering source with the microwave imaging algorithm and spectral transform so as to enhance its measurement precision. Firstly, we performed the 2D microwave imaging of the target and then used the 2D gating function to separate and extract the reflectivity distribution of the weak scattering source. Secondly, we carried out the spectral transform of the reflectivity distribution and eventually obtained the RCS of the weak scattering source through calibration. The prototype experimental results and their analysis show that the measurement method is effective. The experiments on an aircraft’s low-scattering conformal antenna verify that the measurement method can eliminate the clutter on the surface of aircraft. The precision of measuring a −40dBsm target is 3–5dB better than the existing RCS measurement methods. The measurement method can more accurately obtain the weak scattering source’s RCS characteristics

    Unmanned multi target tracking based on boundary IoU target association

    Aiming at the defects of target matching measurement and fixed life cycle management in traditional multi-target tracking, a target association and adaptive life cycle management strategy based on boundary IoU is proposed. Boundary IoU takes into account the advantages of Euclidean distance and IoU, which can improve the accuracy of target matching. The adaptive life cycle management correlates the target trajectory confidence with the life cycle, which significantly reduces the target loss and trajectory false detection during the tracking process. Experiments on KITTI multi-target tracking dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method

    Downward social comparison positively promotes altruism: the multi-mediating roles of belief in a just world and general life satisfaction

    IntroductionThis study examined the underlying mechanism of the relationship between downward social comparison (DSC) and altruism through two conceptually important but rarely studied factors: belief in a just world (BJW) and general life satisfaction (GLS).MethodsThe study utilized a two-time-point design, spaced 2 months apart, with a sample of 1,764 college students from China. The study measured DSC, altruism, BJW, and GLS.ResultsThe findings revealed a significant positive predictive effect of DSC on college students’ altruism and belief in a just world (BJW). Notably, GLS emerged as a multi-mediating factor in this relationship. The study also revealed that both subscales of BJW, namely personal belief in a just world (PBJW) and general belief in a just world (GBJW), played distinct roles in the mediation model. PBJW exhibited a stronger mediating effect, suggesting that DSC can foster individual altruism and BJW. Particularly, BJW was identified as enhancing GLS, subsequently promoting altruistic behavior.ConclusionThis study contributes to the existing literature on social comparison by shedding light on the relationship between DSC, altruism, and the mediating role of belief in a just world and GLS. The findings underscore the potential for promoting altruistic behavior among college students through interventions targeting beliefs in a just world, especially at the personal level, and enhancing GLS

    Maternal docosahexaenoic acid supplementation during lactation improves exercise performance, enhances intestinal glucose absorption and modulates gut microbiota in weaning offspring mice

    IntroductionIntestinal dysfunction induced by weaning stress is common during breastfeeding period. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is well known for promoting visual and brain development, but its effects on early intestinal development remain unknown. This study investigated the impact of maternal DHA supplementation during lactation on intestinal glucose absorption and gut microbiota in weaning offspring mice.Materials and methodsDams were supplemented with vehicle (control), 150 mg/(kg body weight · day) DHA (L-DHA), or 450 mg/(kg body weight · day) DHA (H-DHA) throughout lactation by oral administration. After weaning, pups were randomly divided into three groups for athletic analysis, microbial and proteomic analysis, biochemical analysis, 4-deoxy-4-fluoro-D-glucose (4-FDG) absorption test, and gene expression quantitation of glucose transport-associated proteins and mTOR signaling components.ResultsThe H-DHA group exhibited enhanced grip strength and prolonged swimming duration compared to the control group. Additionally, there were significant increases in jejunal and ileal villus height, and expanded surface area of jejunal villi in the H-DHA group. Microbial analyses revealed that maternal DHA intake increased the abundance of beneficial gut bacteria and promoted metabolic pathways linked to carbohydrate and energy metabolism. Proteomic studies indicated an increased abundance of nutrient transport proteins and enrichment of pathways involved in absorption and digestion in the H-DHA group. This group also showed higher concentrations of glucose in the jejunum and ileum, as well as elevated glycogen levels in the liver and muscles, in contrast to lower glucose levels in the intestinal contents and feces compared to the control group. The 4-FDG absorption test showed more efficient absorption after oral 4-FDG gavage in the H-DHA group. Moreover, the expressions of glucose transport-associated proteins, GLUT2 and SGLT1, and the activation of mTOR pathway were enhanced in the H-DHA group compared to the control group. The L-DHA group also showed similar but less pronounced improvements in these aspects relative to the H-DHA group.ConclusionOur findings suggested that maternal DHA supplementation during lactation improves the exercise performance, enhances the intestinal glucose absorption by increasing the expressions of glucose transporters, and beneficially alters the structure of gut microbiome in weaning offspring mice

    The State of Grasslands across Inner Mongolia and Mongolia

    Grasslands across Inner Mongolia and Mongolia, with their long history of nomadic livestock grazing, are very important natural resources for animal husbandry and environmental services. The main types of grasslands are meadow steppe (forest steppe), typical steppe (steppe) and desert steppe. Most of the grasslands are degraded due to over-grazing, which reduces animal production and the values of environmental services. Overgrazing decreases plant production, species biodiversity, ecosystem stability, soil fertility & structure, and lowers animal productivity leading to reduced household incomes. In pastoral areas across Inner Mongolia and Mongolia, degraded grasslands can be rehabilitated by better managing stocking rates. Our surveys, experiments and farm demonstrations have found that, in degraded grasslands, lower stocking rates had benefits for animal production, net incomes and environmental services. To implement these improvements across Inner Mongolia and Mongolia will be challenging to avoid deleterious trade-offs with livelihoods as it will require changes in herder practices. Further research and demonstration are required to develop locally relevant systems

    Changes in microstates of first-episode untreated nonsuicidal self-injury adolescents exposed to negative emotional stimuli and after receiving rTMS intervention

    BackgroundNonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a common mental health threat in adolescents, peaking in adolescence with a lifetime prevalence of ~17%–60%, making it a high-risk risk factor for suicide. In this study, we compared changes in microstate parameters in depressed adolescents with NSSI, depressed adolescents, and healthy adolescents during exposure to negative emotional stimuli, and further explored the improvement of clinical symptoms and the effect of microstate parameters of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in depressed adolescents with NSSI, and more evidence was provided for potential mechanisms and treatment optimization for the occurrence of NSSI behaviors in adolescents.MethodsSixty-six patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) exhibiting NSSI behavior (MDD + NSSI group), 52 patients with MDD (MDD group), and 20 healthy subjects (HC group) were recruited to perform neutral and negative emotional stimulation task. The age range of all subjects was 12–17 years. All participants completed the Hamilton Depression Scale, the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, the Ottawa Self-Injury Scale and a self-administered questionnaire to collect demographic information. We provided two different treatments to 66 MDD adolescents with NSSI; 31 patients received medication and completed post-treatment scale assessments and EEG acquisitions, and 21 patients received medication combined with rTMS and completed post-treatment scale assessments and EEG acquisitions. Multichannel EEG was recorded continuously from 64 scalp electrodes using the Curry 8 system. EEG signal preprocessing and analysis was performed offline, using the EEGLAB toolbox in MATLAB. Use the Microstate Analysis Toolbox in EEGLAB for segmentation and computation of microstates, and calculate a topographic map of the microstate segmentation of the EEG signal for a single subject in each dataset, and four parameters were obtained for each microstate classification: global explained variance (GEV), mean duration (Duration), average number of occurrences per second (Occurrence), and average percentage of total analysis time occupied (Coverage), which were then statistically analyzed.ResultsOur results indicate that MDD adolescents with NSSI exhibit abnormalities in MS 3, MS 4, and MS 6 parameters when exposed to negative emotional stimuli compared to MDD adolescents and healthy adolescents. The results also showed that medication combined with rTMS treatment improved depressive symptoms and NSSI performance more significantly in MDD adolescents with NSSI compared to medication treatment, and affected MS 1, MS 2, and MS 4 parameters in MDD adolescents with NSSI, providing microstate evidence for the moderating effect of rTMS.ConclusionMDD adolescents with NSSI showed abnormal changes in several microstate parameters when receiving negative emotional stimuli, and compared to those not receiving rTMS treatment, MDD adolescents with NSSI treated with rTMS showed more significant improvements in depressive symptoms and NSSI performance, as well as improvements in EEG microstate abnormalities

    Open X-Embodiment:Robotic learning datasets and RT-X models

    Large, high-capacity models trained on diverse datasets have shown remarkable successes on efficiently tackling downstream applications. In domains from NLP to Computer Vision, this has led to a consolidation of pretrained models, with general pretrained backbones serving as a starting point for many applications. Can such a consolidation happen in robotics? Conventionally, robotic learning methods train a separate model for every application, every robot, and even every environment. Can we instead train "generalist" X-robot policy that can be adapted efficiently to new robots, tasks, and environments? In this paper, we provide datasets in standardized data formats and models to make it possible to explore this possibility in the context of robotic manipulation, alongside experimental results that provide an example of effective X-robot policies. We assemble a dataset from 22 different robots collected through a collaboration between 21 institutions, demonstrating 527 skills (160266 tasks). We show that a high-capacity model trained on this data, which we call RT-X, exhibits positive transfer and improves the capabilities of multiple robots by leveraging experience from other platforms.
