Novel Silica Sorbents Surface-Functionalized with a Salicylhydroxamic Acid-Based Ion-Imprinting Polymer for the Selective Removal of Pb(II) from Aqueous Solution
A new PbÂ(II)-imprinted silica sorbent
IIP-SHA/SiO2 has
been successfully prepared using the surface imprinting technique.
The bidentate and rigid salicylhydroxamic acid was used as the chelating
ligand, and a nucleophilic ring-opening reaction of glycidyl with
phenolic hydroxyl group was employed as the cross-linking chemistry.
The resulting ion-imprinted silica shows enhanced adsorption and more
importantly remarkable selectivity toward PbÂ(II) and excellent reusability
in both batch and dynamic adsorption experiments, making it an appealing
material for PbÂ(II) removal from aqueous medium. The spontaneous adsorption
process was found to be entropy driven and endothermic. The positive
entropy change associated with the adsorption process is unusually
large, indicating that the binding pockets after template ion removal
are rather rigid which is believed to be responsible for the enhanced
selectivity

All-Metal Layer-by-Layer Films: Bimetallic Alternate Layers with Accessible Mesopores for Enhanced Electrocatalysis
We have prepared multilayer mesoporous bimetallic (Pt/Pd)
alternating
films by layer-by-layer (LbL) electrochemical deposition. Because
of the high surface area and heterometallic interfacial atomic contacts,
enhanced electrocatalytic activity for methanol oxidation reaction
is realized. This novel LbL approach allows optimization of the electrocatalytic
performance through precise tuning of the thickness of each layer

Trimetallic PtPdRu Dendritic Nanocages with Three-Dimensional Electrocatalytic Surfaces
Control
over composition and structure on the nanoscale level is
critical for designing highly active and durable catalyst to implement
in electrochemical energy conversion. Herein, we report a facile strategy
for an efficient synthesis of trimetallic PtPdRu dendritic nanocages
with hollow cavity and porous dendritic shell by eroding the interior
of the starting PtPdRu nanodendrites in acidic solution. The newly
discovered trimetallic dendritic nanocages with an open-framework
surface afford 3D molecular accessibility and can be used as highly
active and durable catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction due to
the synergetic effect derived from their unique porous structure and
multimetallic composition

Additional file 1. Figure S1. The localization of mutant ZCWPW1 did not alter in vitro. We used anti-Flag antibofy to detected exogenous ZCWPW1 in MUT-ZCWPW1 transfected cells compared to WT-ZCWPW1 transfected cells. Effectively transfected cells were marked with arrowhead. (Scale bars, 10μm). Figure S2. The reduced expression of ZCWPW1 in proband’s sperms. The relative fluorescence intensity analysis normalized by α-Tubulin was shown. Data represent the mean ± SD from three independent experiments. Student’s t-test, **P < 0.01
