A new adaptive multiple modelling approach for non-linear and non-stationary systems
This paper proposes a novel adaptive multiple modelling algorithm for non-linear and non-stationary systems. This simple modelling paradigm comprises K candidate sub-models which are all linear. With data available in an online fashion, the performance of all candidate sub-models are monitored based on the most recent data window, and M best sub-models are selected from the K candidates. The weight coefficients of the selected sub-model are adapted via the recursive least square (RLS) algorithm, while the coefficients of the remaining sub-models are unchanged. These M model predictions are then optimally combined to produce the multi-model output. We propose to minimise the mean square error based on a recent data window, and apply the sum to one constraint to the combination parameters, leading to a closed-form solution, so that maximal computational efficiency can be achieved. In addition, at each time step, the model prediction is chosen from either the resultant multiple model or the best sub-model, whichever is the best. Simulation results are given in comparison with some typical alternatives, including the linear RLS algorithm and a number of online non-linear approaches, in terms of modelling performance and time consumption
Choosing legumes and perennial grasses
Many letters are received annually by the Iowa Agricultural Experiment Station requesting information on the different legumes and grasses. This publication has been prepared to answer the more important questions pertaining to the choice of legumes and grasses for different uses and conditions.2
Legumes of greatest value for different uses or soil conditions in Iowa are (1) alfalfa, (2) medium red clover, (3) mammoth red clover, (4) alsike clover, (5) white clover, (6) the biennial white and yellow sweet clovers, (7) hubam clover, (the annual white sweet clover) (8) Korean lespedeza, (9) dalea and (10) soybeans. A discussion of soybeans is largely omitted in this publication since the growing of this crop is entirely different from that of the others.
Agricultural Education for Sustainable Rural Development in Developing Countries – Challenges and Policy Options
Governments all over the world have focused upon sustainable rural development in an organized way. Rural locations, in particular, need more economic development in order to match urban centric development. Poverty in rural areas has remained by and large, the main focal point of governments and development agencies. Sustainable rural development is the most effective way to eliminate this curse. Environment friendly growth stimulators have been provided to rural populations. This paper aims to: (a) give an insight into the linkages between the agricultural education and sustainable rural development, and (b) present strategies for sustainable rural development. Challenges in sustainable rural development for developing countries in the 21st century have also been looked into. The paper concludes that agricultural education institutions in developing countries will need to address not only immediate production needs, but also long-term food security, sustainable agriculture and rural development needs
Penerapan Metode Pembelajaran Numbered Heads Together (Nht) Untuk Meningkatkan Motivasi Dan Hasil Belajar Kelarutan Dan Hasil Kali Kelarutan Kelas XI IPA 4 Sman 8 Surakarta Tahun Pelajaran 2012/2013
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan (1) motivasi belajar kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan dan (2) hasil belajar kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan melalui penerapan metode pembelajaran Numbered Heads Together (NHT). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (Classroom Action Research) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dimana setiap siklusnya terdiri atas empat tahapan, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 4 SMAN 8 Surakarta Tahun Pelajaran 2012/2013. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pengamatan, wawancara, kajian dokumen, angket, dan tes. Data yang diperoleh divalidasi menggunakan teknik triangulasi sumber dan dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif kualitatif yang mengacu pada Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan capaian motivasi belajar pada siklus I dan siklus II masing-masing mencapai 58,33% dan 79,17%. Hasil belajar yang diukur pada aspek kognitif dan afektif menunjukkan pada siklus I mencapai 29,17% dan 62,5% serta pada siklus II mencapai 70,83% dan 83,33%. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah penerapan metode pembelajaran Numbered Heads Together (NHT) mampu meningkatkan (1) motivasi belajar kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan dan (2) hasil belajar kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan kelas XI IPA 4 SMAN 8 Surakarta

Mathematics and chemistry interdisciplinary joint research and the Fukui Project XXIII
publisherThis is the 23rd part of the series of articles that records and further develops essentials of the Mathematics and Chemistry Interdisciplinary Symposium 2013 Tsuyama, whose main themes were symmetry, periodicity, and repetition. The symposium was held on April 5th and 6th in Tsuyama city, Okayama, Japan, in conjunction with the Fukui Project and was devoted to the memory of the late Professor Kenichi Fukui (1981 Nobel Prize) who initiated the project. The present series also provides challenging cross-disciplinary problems which are directly related to the Fukui conjecture and to recent carbon nanotube research. Some of these problems are formulated using mathematical language not well known among chemists despite the importance of these notions in elucidating additivity and high-speed asymptotic phenomena in molecules having many repeating identical moieties. Some problems are formulated in terms of Fourier analysis connected to the theory of analytic curves, others are formulated in connection with the Science-Art Multi-angle Network (SAM Network) Project, which seeks to bridge Science and Art (visual, audial, and conceptual) for a creative collaboration, and is an important part of the Fukui Project.departmental bulletin pape
Sage code for enumeration of level-2 Coxeter graphs
<p>This is the public release of the Sage code for enumerating 326 connected level-2 Coxeter graphs with at least 5 vertices. These Coxeter graphs correspond to ball packings as described in this paper (joint work with J.-P. Labbé). The algorithm of the code is described in the same paper.</p>
<p>Here, we follow the idea of Maxwell, so the simple roots are the basis of the Lorentz space, and the fundamental weights are the dual basis. The more general case where the simple roots are positively independent will be considered in the future releases.</p
