    Robust variance-constrained filtering for a class of nonlinear stochastic systems with missing measurements

    The official published version of the article can be found at the link below.This paper is concerned with the robust filtering problem for a class of nonlinear stochastic systems with missing measurements and parameter uncertainties. The missing measurements are described by a binary switching sequence satisfying a conditional probability distribution, and the nonlinearities are expressed by the statistical means. The purpose of the filtering problem is to design a filter such that, for all admissible uncertainties and possible measurements missing, the dynamics of the filtering error is exponentially mean-square stable, and the individual steady-state error variance is not more than prescribed upper bound. A sufficient condition for the exponential mean-square stability of the filtering error system is first derived and an upper bound of the state estimation error variance is then obtained. In terms of certain linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), the solvability of the addressed problem is discussed and the explicit expression of the desired filters is also parameterized.     Nuclear β+\beta^+/EC decays in covariant density functional theory and the impact of isoscalar proton-neutron pairing

    Self-consistent proton-neutron quasiparticle random phase approximation based on the spherical nonlinear point-coupling relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory is established and used to investigate the β+\beta^+/EC-decay half-lives of neutron-deficient Ar, Ca, Ti, Fe, Ni, Zn, Cd, and Sn isotopes. The isoscalar proton-neutron pairing is found to play an important role in reducing the decay half-lives, which is consistent with the same mechanism in the β\beta decays of neutron-rich nuclei. The experimental β+\beta^+/EC-decay half-lives can be well reproduced by a universal isoscalar proton-neutron pairing strength.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figure

    Conditions for Nondistortion Interrogation of Quantum System

    Under some physical considerations, we present a universal formulation to study the possibility of localizing a quantum object in a given region without disturbing its unknown internal state. When the interaction between the object and probe wave function takes place only once, we prove the necessary and sufficient condition that the object's presence can be detected in an initial state preserving way.     Systematic calculations of α\alpha-decay half-lives with an improved empirical formula

    Based on the recent data in NUBASE2012, an improved empirical formula for evaluating the α\alpha-decay half-lives is presented, in which the hindrance effect resulted from the change of the ground state spins and parities of parent and daughter nuclei is included, together with a new correction factor for nuclei near the shell closures. The calculated α\alpha-decay half-lives are found to be in better agreements with the experimental data, and the corresponding root-mean-square (rms) deviation is reduced to 0.4330.433 when the experimental QQ-values are employed. Furthermore, the QQ-values derived from different nuclear mass models are used to predict α\alpha-decay half-lives with this improved formula. It is found that the calculated half-lives are very sensitive to the QQ-values. Remarkably, when mass predictions are improved with the radial basis function (RBF), the resulting rms deviations can be significantly reduced. With the mass prediction from the latest version of Weizs\"{a}cker-Skyrme (WS4) model, the rms deviation of α\alpha-decay half-lives with respect to the known data falls to 0.6970.697.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures and 3 tables, submitted to Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particl

    More Toda-like (0,2) mirrors

    In this paper, we extend our previous work to construct (0,2) Toda-like mirrors to A/2-twisted theories on more general spaces, as part of a program of understanding (0,2) mirror symmetry. Specifically, we propose (0,2) mirrors to GLSMs on toric del Pezzo surfaces and Hirzebruch surfaces with deformations of the tangent bundle. We check the results by comparing correlation functions, global symmetries, as well as geometric blowdowns with the corresponding (0,2) Toda-like mirrors.
