Inteligencia artificial al servicio de la salud pública: caso de estudio detección temprana de focos larvarios de mosquitos.
Las enfermedades transmitidas por mosquitos se consideran emergentes y en constante aumento debido al crecimiento de la población y cambio climático. Con el fin de monitorear la ocurrencia de brotes de larvas de mosquitos, una identificación de larvas. Se ha desarrollado un sistema basado en la detección y clasificación de objetos mediante visión artificial y aprendizaje automático desarrollado y evaluado. Se han recolectado mosquitos en estado larval y pupal. El detector basado en la umbralización adaptativa y la detección de contornos pudo encontrar todos los objetos relevantes en las imágenes de muestra. Para identificar cada objeto encontrado por el detector como larva o no, un clasificador basado en HOG y SVM, y otro basado en CNN han sido entrenados y evaluados, obteniendo valores F1 de 0.951 y 0.991 respectivamente.CONACYT - Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y TecnologíaPROCIENCI

Distributed urban traffic applications based on CORBA event services
Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) in urban environments are based today on
modern embedded systems with enhanced digital connectivity and higher processing capabilities,
supporting distributed applications working in a cooperative manner. This paper provides an
overview about modern cooperative ITS equipments and presents a distributed application to
be used in an urban data network. As a case example, an application based on an embedded
CORBA-compliant middleware layer and several computer vision equipments is presented.
Results prove the feasibility of distributed applications for building intelligent urban
environments

Multi-modular matrix converter topology applied to distributed generation systems
In this paper, a multi-modular matrix converter (MMC) topology as the power conversion core to interconnect a six-phase wind energy generator to the grid is proposed and analyzed theoretically. The proposed architecture is useful in distributed generation systems, where each module consists of a three-phase matrix converter topology. Furthermore, a model-based predictive control will be applied to the MMC in order to evaluate the dynamic performance in the design of current control. Definition and Application of a Computational Parameter for the Quantitative Production of Hydroponic Tomatoes Based on Artificial Neural Networks and Digital Image Processing.
This work presents an alternative method, referred to as Productivity Index or PI, to quan tify the production of hydroponic tomatoes using computer vision and neural networks, in contrast to other well-known metrics, such as weight and count. This new method also allows the automation of processes, such as tracking of tomato growth and quality control. To compute the PI, a series of computational processes are conducted to calculate the total pixel area of the displayed tomatoes and obtain a quantitative indicator of hydroponic crop production. Using the PI, it was possible to identify objects belonging to hydroponic tomatoes with an error rate of 1.07%. After the neural networks were trained, the PI was applied to a full crop season of hydroponic tomatoes to show the potential of the PI to monitor the growth and maturation of tomatoes using different dosages of nutrients. With the help of the PI, it was observed that a nutrient dosage diluted with 50% water shows no difference in yield when compared with the use of the same nutrient with no dilution.CONACYT - Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y TecnologíaPROCIENCI
