Determining efficient delivery routes in specific time-frames using Geographic Information System
Perishable products must be transported quickly from its production area to the markets due to the climatic conditions of Malaysia. Deterioration of fresh produce is affected by temperature and delivery time. The cost to achieve such timely delivery of perishable food can affect the revenue of suppliers and retailers. Choosing an efficient delivery route at right time can reduce the total transportation cost. However, insufficient attention has been given to transportation issues with regards to fresh food delivery of greater Kuala Lumpur. The present study involves adoption of the Geographic Information System (GIS) modelling approach to determine the fastest delivery routes for fresh products to several hypermarkets. For this purpose, ArcGIS software was adopted for solving the problem of a complex road networks. With a goal of realizing the shortest time for delivery route planning, impedance function would be integrated by taking into account the time emphasized in the study. The main findings of this study include determination of efficient routes for delivery of fresh vegetables based on minimal drive time. It has been proposed that the fastest route model for delivery of fresh products is based on comparing two time frames within a day. The final output of this research was a map of quickest routes with best delivery time based on two time frames
Perception, Participation, and Influencing Factors for Parents of the Students in Mitigating the Impact of Lead (Pb)pollution in the Air
Lead pollution (Pb) as a negative impact of battery smelting has a bad effect on human health. Children are at the greatest risk as a result of the lead pollution. Involvement of parents in carrying out mitigation efforts to reduce the impact of air pollution is important to be improved. This study aims to determine perception, participation, and factors affecting the parents of the students in mitigating the impact of lead pollution. The respondents of the study using survey methods are are parents of the students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Baitussa'adah, Curug, Tangerang. The data was analyzed by using the Likert scale, scoring, and logit regression analysis. The data were collected from 174 respondents. Result from Likert analysis showed that in general the parents of the students had a good understanding related to the lead pollution in the air. The majority or 69% of the respondents have a moderate level of participation in mitigating the effects of lead pollution in the air. Furthermore, the research results also showed that the willingness of the community to carry out mitigation actions was influenced by family income, knowledge on lead pollution, as well as length of time for activities carried out outside the home. Mitigation actions against lead pollution in the need to be done by the community, especially by the parents of the students
Karakteristik Konsentrasi Timbel (Pb) dalam Daun 3 (Tiga) Jenis Pohon di Sekitar Pabrik Peleburan Aki Bekas di Tangerang dan Bekasi
Konsentrasi timbel (Pb) yang tinggi di udara, khususnya di sekitar pabrik peleburan aki bekas berisiko bagi kesehatan manusia. Tumbuhan mempunyai fungsi filtrasi terhadap polutan udara sehingga udara yang dihasilkan menjadi lebih segar. Peran tumbuhan dalam penyerapan timbel di lokasi sekitar peleburan aki bekas belum banyak dikaji. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi karakteristik konsentrasi timbel dalam daun di sekitar pabrik peleburan aki bekas di kawasan industri Kadu Manis Tangerang dan kawasan industri Jababeka Bekasi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif, sampel yang diambil merupakan daun pada pohon yang berada di sekitar kawasan industri Kadu Manis Tangerang dan kawasan industri Jababeka Bekasi. Sampel daun diambil sesuai arah mata angin dengan jenis pohon yang diambil adalah Trembesi (Samanea saman), Bintaro (Cerbera manghas), dan Glodokan (Polyalthia longifolia). Sampel daun diambil dalam radius 0 hingga 7,5 km dari lokasi peleburan aki bekas. Konsentrasi timbel dalam daun dihitung dengan menggunakan AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry). Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa arah angin berpengaruh nyata terhadap konsentrasi timbel dalam daun. Pepohonan yang berada di sebelah utara pabrik peleburan mempunyai kadar timbel paling besar dibanding tiga arah lainnya. Jarak dengan peleburan aki bekas hanya berpengaruh nyata terhadap konsentrasi timbel di kawasan industri Jababeka Bekasi
Pengolahan Limbah Organik Rumah Tangga sebagai Bahan Baku Pakan Ikan
Limbah organik mempunyai banyak dampak pada manusia dan lingkungan sekitar. Limbah organik dapat bersumber dari limbah rumah tangga seperti sayur-sayuran, buah-buahan busuk dan dari dedaunan yang berasal dari lingkungan sekitar Limbah organik yang bersumber dari rumah tangga memiliki kandungan protein kasar 10,89-15,58%, lemak 7,77-9,70% dan serat kasar 4,88-9,13%, sehingga sangat berpotensi untuk dijadikan bahan pakan alternatif sumber protein dan energi dalam pakan ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan limbah organik dari rumah tangga sebagai alternatif pakan ikan serta memberikan informasi dan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat tentang cara mengolah limbah organik rumah tangga menjadi pakan ikan. Selanjutnya target khusus yang ingin dicapai adalah memberikan ilmu atau pengetahuan tentang pemanfaatan limbah organik kepada masyarakat. Metode yang akan digunakan adalah metode analisis deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif berupa pengumpulan data kuesioner dari masyarakat. Berdasarkan data kuesioner yang dibagikan pada responden, banyak masyarakat yang belum mengolah dan memanfaatkan limbah organik menjadi bahan yang bermanfaat seperti alternatif pakan ikan
