Ground state phase diagram and magnetoconductance of a one-dimensional Hubbard superlattice at half-filling
We have studied a one dimensional Hubbard superlattice with different Coulomb
correlations at alternating sites for a half-filled band. Mean field
calculations based on the Hartree-Fock approximation together with a real space
renormalization group technique were used to study the ground state of the
system. The phase diagrams obtained in these approaches agree with each other
from the weak to the intermediate coupling regime. The mean field results show
very quick convergence with system size. The renormalization group results
indicate a spatial modulation of local moments that was identified in some
previous work. Also we have studied the magnetoconductance of such
superlattices which reveals several interesting points.Comment: 10 pages, 13 figures. to be published in Phys. Rev. B, vol. 75, Issue

Effect of external electric field on the charge density waves in one dimensional Hubbard superlattices
We have studied the ground state of the one dimensional Hubbard superlattice
structures with different unit cell sizes in the presence of electric field.
Self consistent Hartree-Fock approximation calculation is done in the weak to
intermediate interaction regime. Studying the charge gap at the Fermi level and
the charge density structure factor, we get an idea how the charge modulation
on the superlattice is governed by the competition between the electronic
correlation and the external electric field.Comment: 6 pages, 8 figures. accepted in Journal of Physics: Condensed Matte

Effectiveness of food supplement on treatment outcomes and quality of life in pulmonary tuberculosis: Phased implementation approach
By encouraging treatment adherence and lowering mortality, dietary supplements can serve as adjuvant therapy for the success of medical interventions. We determined the effect of
locally accessible food supplements on treatment outcomes, and health-related quality of life in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis initiating anti-tuberculosis treatment (ATT) in

The cult of motherhood in India : a case study in ideology
This thesis is dedicated to the exploration of mother-as-subject, from a variety of lenses and through the experiences of a couple of women. This work is also based on the notion that, in my reaction to the assumptions of this particular concept, representations of motherhood reverberate with the complexities of my own maternal bonds. The blending of the personal with the sociopolitical realities that constitute motherhood was a powerful analysis that demonstrated the ways in which social myths permeated and complicated the lived experience of mothering. I have devoted this study to analyzing the ideology of the entirely nurturant mother, and speak to the intractability of the myths surrounding motherhood. The way I see it, in the collision of reality with mythology, it is mythology that tends to prevail, as the language and the conventions of the story shape not only what is thought but also what can be said, heard and understood. Traditional portraits of the mother have tended to freeze the process of theorizing maternal subjectivity by erasing the tensions between subject and object, mother and child, fantasy and reality. Images of the maternal shape are in turn reshaped by cultural practices. My attempt has also been to emphasize the interconnection between the power of cultural practices and the development of the maternal subject who can both appropriate and contest these images. I have tried to explore the relation between intrusion and control, multiple and shifting meaning that maternal representations occupy in different arenas of social institutions. I have also focused attention on the paradox of attempting to articulate the meaning of motherhood in cultural arenas that find it difficult to comprehend the lived nature of women\u27s experiences. The development of this study has enabled me to confront personal and the political issues related to maternal subjectivity, to question a society that has devalued and sentimentalized motherhood, and to develop images of generative and creative women who are also mothers. I have focused on motherhood as an inherently political experience, and I have chosen to reckon with my own image of motherhood and to confront representations of the mother

Physics of zero- and one-dimensional nanoscopic systems
In recent years submicron and nanoscale systems have featured strongly on the research agenda due to the technological progress and new physics that have emerged from studies of ultra-small systems. A fundamental understanding of basic physical phenomena on the mesoscopic and nanoscopic scales is required to exploit the technological potential offered by these exotic materials. The present book contains review-like chapters by some of the leading experts in the field, covering topics such as the Kondo effect, electron transport, disorder and quantum coherence with electron-electron interaction, persistent current, thermoelectric phenomena, etc. in quantum dots, quantum wires, carbon nanotubes and more. This book will be valuable to researchers and students in condensed matter physics

Comparison of Attendance of Patients Pre-lockdown and during Lockdown in Gynaecology and Antenatal Outpatient Department in a Tertiary Care Hospital of Nadia, West Bengal, India
Introduction: The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has brought about a paramount change in the life. This has lead to a reduction in the number of routine patients visiting the Outpatient Department (OPD) of various hospitals and this department was no exception. Aim: To compare the attendance of patient in Antenatal Care (ANC) and Gynaecology Out Patient Department (GOPD) between pre-lockdown and lockdown period due to COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted among patients attending the OPD in ANC and Gynaecology for 70 days lockdown from 23rd March to 31st May and 70 days immediate pre-lockdown period from 12th January to 22nd March 2020. Daily attendance was noted and types of patient attending in different sub clinics in Gynaecology OPD compared. Enrolment of new ANC patient and old booked cases was compared during both periods. Descriptive statistics were used and displayed as percentages. Results: There was a significant reduction in number of patients attending OPD in lockdown period. There was a total of 6088 (87.3%) reduction in number of patients in Gynaecology OPD and 2235 (69.6%) reduction of patients in ANC OPD which was found to be significant with p-value <0.001. Reduction of patient in lockdown days among new ANC was 574 while it was 1661 in case of old patients. The different sub clinics of GOPD like infertility (704), endocrine (1450), uro-gynaecology (656), STD/PID (732), postpartum (597), cancer detection (316), abortion and medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) (330), others (1303) also witnessed a diminution of attendance. Conclusion: COVID-19 caused a significant decrease in footfall of patients in outpatient department due to lockdown, though the percentage of types of patient attending Gynaecology OPD was almost same.</jats:p
