Large NN Universality of 4d N=1\mathcal{N}=1 Superconformal Index and AdS Black Holes

We study the large NN limit of the matrix models associated with the superconformal indices of four-dimensional N=1\mathcal{N}=1 superconformal field theories. We find that for a large class of N=1\mathcal{N}=1 superconformal gauge theories, the superconformal indices in the large NN limit of such theories are dominated by the 'parallelogram' saddle, providing O(N2)O(N^2) free energy for the generic value of chemical potentials. This saddle corresponds to BPS black holes in AdS5_5 whenever a holographic dual description is available. Our saddle applies to a large class of gauge theories, including ADE quiver gauge theories, and the theories with rank-2 tensor matters. Our analysis works for most N=1\mathcal{N}=1 superconformal gauge theories that admit a suitable large NN limit while keeping the flavor symmetry fixed. We also find 'multi-cut' saddle points, which correspond to the orbifolded Euclidean black holes in AdS5_5.Comment: 34 pages, 2 figure

Large NN Superconformal Indices for 3d Holographic SCFTs

We study a limit of the superconformal index of the ABJM theory on S1Γ—S2S^1\times S^2 in which the size of the circle is much smaller than the radius of the two-sphere. We derive closed form expressions for the two leading terms in this Cardy-like limit which are valid to all orders in the 1/N1/N expansion. These results are facilitated by a judicious rewriting of the superconformal index which establishes a connection with the Bethe Ansatz Equations that control the topologically twisted index. Using the same technique we extend these results to the superconformal index of another holographic theory: 3d N=4\mathcal{N}=4 SYM coupled to one adjoint and NfN_f fundamental hypermultiplets. We discuss the implications of our results for holography and the physics of charged rotating black holes in AdS4_4.Comment: v1: 40 page

The shape of non-graviton operators for SU(2)SU(2)

The BPS spectrum of AdS/CFT exhibits multi-gravitons at low energies, while having black hole states at higher energies. This can be studied concretely in AdS5_5/CFT4_4 in terms of classical cohomologies, even in the quantum regimes at finite 1/N1/N. Recently, Chang and Lin found a threshold for non-graviton states in the SU(2)SU(2) maximal super-Yang-Mills theory. We explicitly construct and present this threshold cohomology.Comment: 8 page
