Fibonacci Oscillators in the Landau Diamagnetism problem
We address the issue of the Landau diamagnetism problem via -deformed
algebra of Fibonacci oscillators through its generalized sequence of two real
and independent deformation parameters and . We obtain -deformed
thermodynamic quantities such as internal energy, number of particles,
magnetization and magnetic susceptibility which recover their usual form in the
degenerate limit =1.Comment: Latex, 11 pages, two figures, version to appear in Physica
Novice and Veteran Teachers’ Perceptions of Crisis Management Training Concerning School Fights
The purpose of this study was to examine the data collected from 7-12 grade middle/junior high teachers and high school teachers to determine whether there was a difference between veteran and novice teachers’ perceptions that they are adequately trained to respond to student versus student fights. This study included an introduction and a literature review about crisis management training. The study also included methodology, research results, conclusions, recommendations for policy makers and practitioners, and recommendations for future research.
The researcher developed a survey instrument to examine the veteran and novice teachers’ perceptions about crisis management training concerning school fights. Data was collected via an on-line survey site from 296 participants with the majority being female with 1-3 years of teaching experience.
This study specifically examined veteran and novice teachers’ perceptions about crisis management training concerning school fights. Results illustrated that there was no difference in the perceptions of veteran and novice teachers in the area of intervention of school fights. This study also examined if there was a difference in perceptions between veteran teachers and novice teachers related to their crisis management training. The results indicated there was no difference in perceptions. In addition, this study explored if there was a difference of perception between veteran teachers and novice teachers related to preventative strategies. Once again, the results indicated there was no difference in perceptions. Finally, this study examined if there was a difference of perception between veteran teachers and novice teachers related to law concerning school fights. The results indicated a significant relationship was found. Policymakers and practitioners were urged to develop professional development and training related to teachers’ knowledge of law concerning school fights
Characterisation of European Marine Sites: Mersey Estuary Special Protection Area. Occasional Publication of the Marine Biological Association 18
This report provides an overview of water and sediment quality within the Mersey Estuary European Marine Site (EMS) and examines evidence for their influence on bioloigcal condition. It has not been possible to determine adequately whether prevailing conditions in the Mersey impact on the interest features of the site as studies which address this issue have not been carried out. It is only possible to review the current level of knowledge regarding the biological and chemical status for the estuary, and extrapolate risks to the bird population. Often information relates to sites outside the EMS; where this is the case the authors have tried to appraise the general status of the estuary, based on best available knowledge
Magnetization in quasiperiodic magnetic multilayers with biquadratic exchange coupling
A theoretical study of the magnetization curves of quasiperiodic magnetic
multilayers is presented. We consider structures composed by ferromagnetic
films (Fe) with interfilm exchange coupling provided by intervening
nonferromagnetic layers (Cr). The theory is based on a realistic
phenomenological model, which includes the following contributions to the free
magnetic energy: Zeeman, cubic anisotropy, bilinear and biquadratic exchange
energies. The experimental parameters used here are based on experimental data
recently reported, which contain sufficiently strong biquadratic exchange
coupling.Comment: 6 EPS figures, REVTeX, accepted for publication in Journal of Applied

Influence of the biquadratic interlayer coupling in the specific heat of Fibonacci magnetic multilayers
A theoretical study of the specific heat C(T) as a function of temperature in
Fibonacci magnetic superlattices is presented. We consider quasiperiodic
structures composed of ferromagnetic films, each described by the Heisenberg
model, with biquadratic and bilinear coupling between them. We have taken the
ratios between the biquadratic and bilinear exchange terms according to
experimental data recently measured for different regions of their regime.
Although some previous properties of the spin wave specific heat are also
reproduced here, new features appear in this case, the most important of them
being an interesting broken-symmetry related to the interlayer biquadratic
term.Comment: 13 pages, 4 ps figures, Submitted to Physica
Self-similar magnetoresistance of Fibonacci ultrathin magnetic films
We study numerically the magnetic properties (magnetization and
magnetoresistance) of ultra-thin magnetic films (Fe/Cr) grown following the
Fibonacci sequence. We use a phenomenological model which includes Zeeman,
cubic anisotropy, bilinear and biquadratic exchange energies. Our physical
parameters are based on experimental data recently reported, which contain
biquadratic exchange coupling with magnitude comparable to the bilinear
exchange coupling. When biquadratic exchange coupling is sufficiently large a
striking self-similar pattern emerges.Comment: 5 pages, 5 EPS figures, REVTeX, accepted for publication in Phys.

Thermal properties of a solid through q-deformed algebra
We address the study of the thermodynamics of a crystalline solid by applying
q-deformed algebras. We based part of our study by considering both Einstein
and Debye models. We have mainly explored the q-deformed thermal and electric
conductivities as a function of the Debye specific heat. The results led to the
interpretation of the q-deformation acting as a factor of disorder or impurity
modifying the characteristics of a crystalline structure as, for example, in
the case of semiconductors.Comment: 8 pages, twocolumn, 12 figures, Latex, version to appear in Physica
