Effect of Branching on Phase Behaviors of ABC Triblock Copolymers in Nonfrustrated Systems

The phase behavior of linear dendritic triblock copolymer melts(AB2C4) is studied by self-consistent-field theory (SCFT) in order to find the effects of branching on the phase behavior of ABC linear triblock copolymer melts. We focus on a nonfrustrated parameters that \c{hi}NAB=\c{hi}NBC=\c{hi}NAC=40 where A/C interface will not form. Frank-Kasper phases, asymmetric alternative sphere as well as traditional phases observed in diblock copolymer melts are found to be stable in the calculation

Local generation of hydrogen for enhanced photothermal therapy.

By delivering the concept of clean hydrogen energy and green catalysis to the biomedical field, engineering of hydrogen-generating nanomaterials for treatment of major diseases holds great promise. Leveraging virtue of versatile abilities of Pd hydride nanomaterials in high/stable hydrogen storage, self-catalytic hydrogenation, near-infrared (NIR) light absorption and photothermal conversion, here we utilize the cubic PdH0.2 nanocrystals for tumour-targeted and photoacoustic imaging (PAI)-guided hydrogenothermal therapy of cancer. The synthesized PdH0.2 nanocrystals have exhibited high intratumoural accumulation capability, clear NIR-controlled hydrogen release behaviours, NIR-enhanced self-catalysis bio-reductivity, high NIR-photothermal effect and PAI performance. With these unique properties of PdH0.2 nanocrystals, synergetic hydrogenothermal therapy with limited systematic toxicity has been achieved by tumour-targeted delivery and PAI-guided NIR-controlled release of bio-reductive hydrogen as well as generation of heat. This hydrogenothermal approach has presented a cancer-selective strategy for synergistic cancer treatment

Advanced surface color quality assessment in paper-based full-color 3d printing

Color 3D printing allows for 3D-printed parts to represent 3D objects more realistically, but its surface color quality evaluation lacks comprehensive objective verification considering printing materials. In this study, a unique test model was designed and printed using eco-friendly and vivid paper-based full-color 3D printing as an example. By measuring the chromaticity, roughness, glossiness, and whiteness properties of 3D-printed surfaces and by acquiring images of their main viewing surfaces, this work skillfully explores the correlation between the color representation of a paper-based 3D-printed coloring layer and its attached underneath blank layer. Quantitative analysis was performed using ΔE*ab, feature similarity index measure of color image (FSIMc), and improved color-image-difference (iCID) values. The experimental results show that a color difference on color-printed surfaces exhibits a high linear correlation trend with its FSIMc metric and iCID metric. The qualitative analysis of microscopic imaging and the quantitative analysis of the above three surface properties corroborate the prediction of the linear correlation between color difference and image-based metrics. This study can provide inspiration for the development of computational coloring materials for additive manufacturing

What Should Streamers Communicate in Livestream E-Commerce? The Effects of Social Interactions on Live Streaming Performance

    Get PDF
Compared with traditional e-commerce, livestreaming e-commerce is characterized by direct and intimate communication between streamers and consumers that stimulates instant social interactions. This study focuses on streamers’ three types of information exchange (i.e., product information, social conversation, and social solicitation) and examines their roles in driving both short-term and long-term livestreaming performance (i.e., sales and customer base growth). We find that the informational role of product information (nonpromotional and promotional) is beneficial not only to sales performance, but also to the growth of the customer base. We also find that social conversation has a relationship-building effect that positively impacts both sales and customer base growth, whereas social solicitation has both a relationship-building and a relationship-straining effect that positively affects customer base growth but can hurt sales. Furthermore, our results show that streamers’ social interactions with consumers can stimulate consumer engagement in different ways, leading to different effects on livestreaming performance

Query Complexity of Active Learning for Function Family With Nearly Orthogonal Basis

Many machine learning algorithms require large numbers of labeled data to deliver state-of-the-art results. In applications such as medical diagnosis and fraud detection, though there is an abundance of unlabeled data, it is costly to label the data by experts, experiments, or simulations. Active learning algorithms aim to reduce the number of required labeled data points while preserving performance. For many convex optimization problems such as linear regression and pp-norm regression, there are theoretical bounds on the number of required labels to achieve a certain accuracy. We call this the query complexity of active learning. However, today's active learning algorithms require the underlying learned function to have an orthogonal basis. For example, when applying active learning to linear regression, the requirement is the target function is a linear composition of a set of orthogonal linear functions, and active learning can find the coefficients of these linear functions. We present a theoretical result to show that active learning does not need an orthogonal basis but rather only requires a nearly orthogonal basis. We provide the corresponding theoretical proofs for the function family of nearly orthogonal basis, and its applications associated with the algorithmically efficient active learning framework
