Susceptibility of clinical isolates of bacteria to cefamandole, cefoxitin and cephalothin
The in vitro susceptibility was determined of 274 isolates to cephalothin and two new antibiotics, cefamandole and cefoxitin. Cefamandole was comparable to cephalothin in preventing growth of cultures of the gram positive organisms except for penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus which was more sensitive to cephalothin. Cefamandole was more active than cephalothin against all the gram negative bacteria including Haemophilus influenzae and in addition it was active against many strains of Enterobacter sp. Cefoxitin was less active than cephalothin against the gram positive organisms but it was more active against most of the gram negative bacteria. In addition. It was active against Serratia and indole positive Proteus which are uniformly resistant to cephalothin
Social impact analysis of products under a holistic approach: A case study in the meat product supply chain
Social impact assessment of products can be approached through different methodologies that need to be adapted to the particularities and features of the studied subject. Thus, the Social Life Cycle Assessment methodology can be used to assess different innovative practices of product manufacturing, under a circular economy approach, by identifying potential positive as well as negative impacts along productsâ life cycle. This paper presents the results of the Social Life Cycle Impact Assessment of a reference product from the Spanish meat industry using existing and new innovative methods of social impact analysis. Worker discrimination, health and safety for workers, consumers and local community were identified as the social aspects with relevant significance into the business or for the influence on customerâs perception of the products studied. Therefore, results can represent a reference scenario for the future assessment of innovative solutions in the Spanish meet sector. Despite the scarce use of Social Life Cycle Impact Assessment, this case study is a good example of how this innovative kind of assessment can be helpful for companies to identify their weak and strong social performance areas and design strategies to improve in Social Responsibility Management. © 2021 by the authors. MIMAC: MIcro-tpc MAtrix of Chambers for dark matter directional detection
Directional detection of non-baryonic Dark Matter is a promising search
strategy for discriminating WIMP events from neutrons, the ultimate background
for dark matter direct detection. This strategy requires both a precise
measurement of the energy down to a few keV and 3D reconstruction of tracks
down to a few mm. The MIMAC (MIcro-tpc MAtrix of Chambers) collaboration has
developed in the last years an original prototype detector based on the direct
coupling of large pixelized micromegas with a special developed fast
self-triggered electronics showing the feasibility of a new generation of
directional detectors. The first bi-chamber prototype has been installed at
Modane, underground laboratory in June 2012. The first undergournd background
events, the gain stability and calibration are shown. The first spectrum of

Search for neutrinos from transient sources with the ANTARES telescope and optical follow-up observations
The ANTARES telescope has the opportunity to detect transient neutrino
sources, such as gamma-ray bursts, core-collapse supernovae, flares of active
nuclei... To enhance the sensitivity to these sources, we have developed a new
detection method based on the optical follow-up of "golden" neutrino events
such as neutrino doublets coincident in time and space or single neutrinos of
very high energy. The ANTARES Collaboration has therefore implemented a very
fast on-line reconstruction with a good angular resolution. These
characteristics allow to trigger an optical telescope network; since February
2009. ANTARES is sending alert trigger one or two times per month to the two 25
cm robotic telescope of TAROT. This follow-up of such special events would not
only give access to the nature of the sources but also improves the sensitivity

Photoionization in the time and frequency domain
Ultrafast processes in matter, such as the electron emission following light
absorption, can now be studied using ultrashort light pulses of attosecond
duration (s) in the extreme ultraviolet spectral range. The lack of
spectral resolution due to the use of short light pulses may raise serious
issues in the interpretation of the experimental results and the comparison
with detailed theoretical calculations. Here, we determine photoionization time
delays in neon atoms over a 40 eV energy range with an interferometric
technique combining high temporal and spectral resolution. We spectrally
disentangle direct ionization from ionization with shake up, where a second
electron is left in an excited state, thus obtaining excellent agreement with
theoretical calculations and thereby solving a puzzle raised by seven-year-old
measurements. Our experimental approach does not have conceptual limits,
allowing us to foresee, with the help of upcoming laser technology, ultra-high
resolution time-frequency studies from the visible to the x-ray range.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

Natural Formulations Based on Olea europaea L. Fruit Extract for the Topical Treatment of HSV-1 Infections
In the present study, a hydroxytyrosol-rich Olea europaea L. fruit extract (OFE) was added to three thoroughly green formulationsâhydrogel, oleogel, and creamâin order to evaluate their antiviral activity against HSV-1. The extract was characterized by different analytical techniques, i.e., FT-IR, XPS, and TGA. HPLC analyses were carried out to monitor the content and release of hydroxytyrosol in the prepared formulations. The total polyphenol content and antioxidant activity were investigated through FolinâCiocĂąlteuâs reagent, DPPH, and ABTS assays. The ability of the three formulations to convey active principles to the skin was evaluated using a Franz cell, showing that the number of permeated polyphenols in the hydrogel (272.1 ± 1.8 GAE/g) was significantly higher than those in the oleogel and cream (174 ± 10 and 179.6 ± 2 GAE/g, respectively), even if a negligible amount of hydroxytyrosol crossed the membrane for all the formulations. The cell viability assay indicated that the OFE and the three formulations were not toxic to cultured Vero cells. The antiviral activity tests highlighted that the OFE had a strong inhibitory effect against HSV-1 with a 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) at 25 ”g/mL, interfering directly with the viral particles. Among the three formulations, the hydrogel exhibited the highest antiviral activity also against the acyclovir-resistant strain

European Psychiatry 415(2017) 5221.Chronic irritability is the most frequently reported symptom in child and adolescent depression. The association of both has been linked with high rates of chronicity, comorbility and impairment.
Objectives
To study the association between chronic irritability and depressive symptoms in children and adolescents.
Methods
We have studied 857 participants recruited from the only Child and Adolescent Mental Health Clinic in a catchment area of 122968 people under 18 (2004-2010). A sample of 677 participants (57 controls and 620 patients) was included to carry out a cross-sectional study.
Chronic irritability was measured by a Visual Analog Scale (VAS irritability) -scored from 0 to 10-, and depressive symptoms by the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI). The participants were categorized into controls and patients, and according to their chronic irritability (â€4 [I],5 [II] and â„6 [III]). The mean of CDI score was calculated for each of the groups, adjusted by sex and age, and analyzed by ANCOVA.
Results
The following means were obtained from the controls: 13,71 (group I), 9,82 (group II) and 17,45 (group III). Regarding to the patients: 13,92 (group I), 11,54 (group II) and 15,64 (group III). A quadratic association (p <0,0015) was found between VAS irritability score and CDI score.
Conclussions
There is not a lineal association between chronic irritability and depressive symptoms in children and adolescent. High rates of depressive symptoms were associated both with high and low rates of irritability. Several questions remain unexplained about the status of irritability in psychiatry as Stringaris group has been pointed out.

Spatially Offset Raman Spectroscopic (SORS) Analysis of Wine Alcoholic Fermentation: A Preliminary Study
Spatially offset Raman spectroscopy (SORS) is a non-invasive analytical technique that allows the analysis of samples through a container. This makes it an effective tool for studying food and beverage products, as it can measure the sample without being affected by the packaging or the container. In this study, a portable SORS equipment was used for the first time to analyse the alcoholic fermentation process of white wine. Different sample measurement arrangements were tested in order to determine the most effective method for monitoring the fermentation process and predicting key oenological parameters. The best results were obtained when the sample was directly measured through the glass container in which the fermentation was occurring. This allowed for the accurate monitoring of the process and the prediction of density and pH with a root mean square error of cross-validation (RMSECV) of 0.0029 g·Lâ1 and 0.04, respectively, and R2 values of 0.993 and 0.961 for density and pH, respectively.
