    Face recognition in different subspaces - A comparative study

    Face recognition is one of the most successful applications of image analysis and understanding and has gained much attention in recent years. Among many approaches to the problem of face recognition, appearance-based subspace analysis still gives the most promising results. In this paper we study the three most popular appearance-based face recognition projection methods (PCA, LDA and ICA). All methods are tested in equal working conditions regarding preprocessing and algorithm implementation on the FERET data set with its standard tests. We also compare the ICA method with its whitening preprocess and find out that there is no significant difference between them. When we compare different projection with different metrics we found out that the LDA+COS combination is the most promising for all tasks. The L1 metric gives the best results in combination with PCA and ICA1, and COS is superior to any other metric when used with LDA and ICA2.     The Virtual Skiing game allows the user to immerse himself into the skiing sensation without using any obvious hardware interfaces. To achieve the movement down the virtual skiing slope the skier who stands on a pair of skis attached to the floor performs the same movements as on real skis, in particular this is the case on carving skis: tilting the body to the left initiates a left turn, tilting the body to the right initiates a right turn, by lowering the body, the speed is increased. The skier observes his progress down the virtual slope projected on the wall in front of him. The skierÔÇÖs movements are recorded using a video camera placed in front of him and processed on a PC in real time to drive the projected animation of the virtual slope

    In this paper we present projects developed in the Computer Vision Laboratory, which address the issue of safety. First, we present the Internet Video Server (IVS) monitoring system [5] that sends live video stream over the Internet and enables remote camera control. Its extension GlobalView [1,6], which incorporates intuitive user interface for remote camera control, is based on panoramic image. Then we describe our method for automatic face detection [3] based on color segmentation and feature extraction. Finally, we introduce our SecurityAgent system [4] for automatic surveillance of observed location

Preden lahko na sliki iz nadzorne kamere uporabimo sistem za samodejno prepoznavo obrazov, jo moramo z razli─Źnimi metodami za obdelavo slik izbolj┼íati in popraviti. Z metodo ra─Źunalni┼íkega vida iz slik rekonstruiramo 3D informacije. V─Źasih je treba potrditi tudi pristnost videomateriala, za kar lahko uporabimo razli─Źne tehnike na podlagi poznavanja formata zapisa in delovanja algoritmov za obdelavo slike in videa. ─îe identi kacija na osnovi obraza ni mogo─Źa ali je neuspe┼ína, lahko uporabimo tudi druge biometri─Źne karakteristike osebe Ôłĺ mehke biometrike. Sodni izvedenec za slikovno biometrijo mora razumeti in znati uporabiti razli─Źne metode za obdelavo slik in razli─Źna orodja ra─Źunalni┼íkega vida.     Najrazli─Źnej┼íe metode za prepoznavo ─Źlove┼íkih obrazov so postale dandanes tudi v komercialnih sistemih ┼że zelo raz┼íirjene.
