Network Mutual Information and Synchronization under Time Transformations
We investigate the effect of general time transformations on the phase
synchronization (PS) phenomenon and the mutual information rate (MIR) between
pairs of nodes in dynamical networks. We demonstrate two important results
concerning the invariance of both PS and the MIR. Under time transformations PS
can neither be introduced nor destroyed and the MIR cannot be raised from zero.
On the other hand, for proper time transformations the timing between the
cycles of the coupled oscillators can be largely improved. Finally, we discuss
the relevance of our findings for communication in dynamical networks.Comment: 15 p
Perancangan Sistem Informasi Penggajian Dan Presensi Pada PT. Kosoema Nanda Putra Klaten
PT. Kosoema Nanda Putra Klaten, located at Jl. Raya Pedan - Karangdowo KM 3 Klaten is one of the business entity that is engaged in the field of textiles and has 1004 employees as labor. The number of employees resulted in presensi and payroll process is still done manually into causes overwrite files and frequent occurrence of errors. The purpose of this research is to design information systems and payroll presensi PT. Kosoema Nanda Putra Klaten. In order to simplify the process of payroll and presensi. And generate more accurate data relevant, save costs and time. The resulting system shaped desktop application "Payroll information system and Presence", which is intended to help PT. Kosoema Putra Nanda melaukan presensi in Klaten and salary calculations
V4140 Sgr: a short period dwarf nova with a peculiar behavior
We report on time series of CCD photometry of V4140 Sgr between 1991 and
2001. The analysis reveals that the object was in the decline from an outburst
in 1992 and again in outburst in 2001. The historical light curve collected by
amateur astronomers shows low amplitude (1-2 mag) outbursts 5-10 days long,
recurrent every 80-90 days, confirming its dwarf nova nature. We derive an
outburst decline time scale of 1.2 days mag. Eclipse mapping techniques
were applied to data both in quiescence and in outburst to derive accretion
disc surface brightness maps. A distance of pc is obtained
from a method similar to that used to constrain the distance to open clusters.
From this distance, disc radial brightness temperature distributions are
determined. The temperatures in the quiescent disc vary from K in the
inner regions to K near the outer disc and are flatter than the law for optically thick steady-state disc. The outburst
occurs mainly with a significant increase in brightness of the intermediate and
outer disc regions. The disc temperatures remain below the critical effective
temperature at all disc radii during outburst. The radial
temperature distributions in quiescence and in outburst are significantly
different from those of other dwarf novae of similar orbital period. These
results cannot be explained within the framework of the disc instability model.
We suggest that the small amplitude outbursts of V4140 Sgr are caused by bursts
of enhanced mass transfer rate from the secondary star.Comment: 12 pages, 11 figures, accepted by A&
A Brazilian anuran (Hylodes magalhaesi: Leptodactylidae) infected by Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis: a conservation concern
Several studies have associated the chytrid fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis with anuran population declines worldwide. To date, the fungus has been found in Africa, the Americas, Australia, and Europe. However, it has never been reported to occur in the Atlantic forest or Brazil. Based on morphological, histological, and molecular data, we encountered evidence of B. dendrobatidis infection in a high-altitude stream-dwelling Brazilian anuran species, Hylodes magalhaesi (Leptodactylidae). One population (Municipality of Camanducaia, State of Minas Gerais) was surveyed from 2001 to 2005. Tadpoles lacking teeth were observed and collected in 2004. Histological and molecular analyses identified infection by B. dendrobatidis. Although infected tadpoles seem nowadays to co-exist with the disease, our results are alarming due to the highly endangered situation of the Brazilian Atlantic forest and its fauna. Effects of the chytrid infection on the studied population are still unknown. Further investigations are needed to provide information on its distribution in relation to other populations of H. magalhaesi
Gravitational Waves in Generalised Brans-Dicke Theory
We have solved cosmological gravitational Wave(GW)equation in the frame work
of Generalised Brans-Dicke(GBD) theory for all epochs of the Universe. The
solutions are expressed in terms of the present value of the Brans-Dicke
coupling parameter .It is seen that the solutions represent
travelling growing modes for negative values of for all epochs of
the Universe.Comment: 7Pages,no figure
Reconstruction of eye movements during blinks
In eye movement research in reading, the amount of data plays a crucial role
for the validation of results. A methodological problem for the analysis of the
eye movement in reading are blinks, when readers close their eyes. Blinking
rate increases with increasing reading time, resulting in high data losses,
especially for older adults or reading impaired subjects. We present a method,
based on the symbolic sequence dynamics of the eye movements, that reconstructs
the horizontal position of the eyes while the reader blinks. The method makes
use of an observed fact that the movements of the eyes before closing or after
opening contain information about the eyes movements during blinks. Test
results indicate that our reconstruction method is superior to methods that use
simpler interpolation approaches. In addition, analyses of the reconstructed
data show no significant deviation from the usual behavior observed in readers
Mean distance on metric graphs
We introduce a natural notion of mean (or average) distance in the context of
compact metric graphs, and study its relation to geometric properties of the
graph. We show that it exhibits a striking number of parallels to the
reciprocal of the spectral gap of the graph Laplacian with standard vertex
conditions: it is maximised among all graphs of fixed length by the path graph
(interval), or by the loop in the restricted class of doubly connected graphs,
and it is minimised among all graphs of fixed length and number of edges by the
equilateral flower graph. We also establish bounds for the correctly scaled
product of the spectral gap and the square of the mean distance which depend
only on combinatorial, and not metric, features of the graph. This raises the
open question whether this product admits absolute upper and lower bounds valid
on all compact metric graphs
