Assessment of the Transport Properties and Strength of Concretes Having Different Mix Proportions, Silica Fume and Fly Ash Additions
Measurement of concrete permeability is increasingly being used as an index for quality control in addition to concrete compressive strength. In the present work, the behavior of three different types of concrete was investigated to determine the transport properties and concrete compressive strength up to one year. The mix variables investigated include: cement content (300, 350, 400 and 450 kg/m3), water/cement ratio (0.35, 0.40, 0.45 and 0.50) and mineral pozzolanic materials (10% silica fume and 20% fly ash as a partial replacement of cement content). The experimental results were statistically analyzed to develop correlations between the concrete constituents and the selected durability indices of concrete. The test results showed an improvement in transport properties at higher levels of cement content and lower water/cement ratios. The permeability was significantly influenced by the inclusion of silica fume and fly ash in concrete. Test results showed that silica fume concrete (SFC) gives better performance when compared with normal and fly ash concrete (FAC) in terms of concrete compressive strength, chloride ion permeability and water penetration depth
The european neighbourhood policy: an approach to relations with Russia and Ukraine
[EN]The security and defence of its borders has always been of vital importance to the European Union.
For this reason, since 2004, the European Neighbourhood Policy has been a vitally important instrument of
EU foreign policy. This paper aims to address the evolution of the European Union's relations with Ukraine
and Russia under this neighbourhood policy, the reasons for the current situation in Ukraine and how the EU
papel protagonista.[EU]Bere mugen segurtasunak eta defentsak berebiziko garrantzia izan du beti Europar Batasunarentzat.
Horregatik, 2004az geroztik, Europako Auzotasun Politika oso tresna garrantzitsua izan da bere Kanpo
Politikaren barruan. Lan honen bidez, Europar Batasunak Ukrainarekin eta Errusiarekin dituen harremanen
bilakaerari heldu nahi zaio, auzotasun-politika horren babesean, baita Ukrainako egungo egoeraren arrazoiei
eta EBk ekialdeko eskualdearekiko jarrera geopolitikoagoa hartu behar izan duen moduari ere, rol
protagonista bat hartuz
Behavior of Shear Wall with Base Opening
Provision of parking may require an opening to be kept at the base of a shear wall. In this paper, an attempt is made to establish the range of base opening that may be allowed without significantly affecting the strength and stiffness. The behavior of planar and box shear wall with varying percentages of base opening has been studied and compared to that of a shear wall without opening. Finite element package ANSYS has been used for modeling. A set of non-dimensional graphs has been prepared featuring important parameters which will guide the designer to choose an appropriate opening width. It is observed that the rate of decrease of stiffnessis is relatively low for up to 60% base opening. Beyond this limit, strength and stiffness degradations are excessive. Based on the findings of the study, it has been recommended that in high-rise constructions the provision of a base opening up to 50% of the length of the wall may be considered as a feasible optio

On a generalized Laguerre operational matrix of fractional integration
A new operationalmatrix of fractional integration of arbitrary order for generalized Laguerre polynomials is derived. The fractional
integration is described in the Riemann-Liouville sense. This operational matrix is applied together with generalized Laguerre tau
method for solving general linearmultitermfractional differential equations (FDEs).Themethod has the advantage of obtaining the
solution in terms of the generalized Laguerre parameter. In addition, only a small dimension of generalized Laguerre operational
matrix is needed to obtain a satisfactory result. Illustrative examples reveal that the proposedmethod is very effective and convenient
for linear multiterm FDEs on a semi-infinite interval
