The Diphoton and Diboson Excesses in a Left-Right Symmetric Theory of Dark Matter
We explore the possibility that the recently reported diphoton excess at
ATLAS and CMS can be accommodated within a minimal extension of a left-right
symmetric model. Our setup is able to simultaneously explain the Run 2 diphoton
and Run 1 diboson excesses, while providing a standard thermal freeze-out of
weak-scale dark matter. In this scenario, the 750 GeV neutral right-handed
Higgs triplet is responsible for the diphoton excess. Interactions of this
state with the neutral and charged components of dark matter multiplets provide
the dominant mechanisms for production and decay. A striking signature of this
model is the additional presence of missing energy in the diphoton channel.Comment: 19 pages, 3 figure

Thinking Fragments: Adisciplinary Reflections on Feminisms and Environmental Justic
Feminisms and environmental justice are some of the names of struggles to understand nature-culture linkages and conceptualize just worlds for non-humans and their human kin. In this paper, I revisit my journey of doing environmental justice research, i.e. of my feminist scientific practice in Asia and Latin America. In this retrospective telling I highlight how gender, political economy, and race were and remain fundamental in producing the subjects and objects of my research and analysis. I discuss how an implicit feminism helped me grapply with the complex nature-culture linkages I observed in the field. Postcolonial and marxist insights supplement and complement feminisms in the questions I pose as we attempt to imagine new nature-cultures
What's Wrong with these Observables?
An imprecise measurement of a dynamical variable (such as a spin component)
does not, in general, give the value of another dynamical variable (such as a
spin component along a slightly different direction). The result of the
measurement cannot be interpreted as the value of any observable that has a
classical analogue.Comment: submitted to Foundations of Physic
