Random raman fiber laser based on a twin-core fiber with FBGs inscribed by femtosecond radiation

    Get PDF
Narrowband Raman lasing in a polarization-maintaining two-core fiber (TCF) is demonstrated. Femtosecond point-by-point inscription of fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) in individual cores produces a half-open cavity with random distributed feedback. The laser linewidth in the cavity with a single FBG inscribed in one core of the TCF reduced by ∼2 times with respect to the cavity with a fiber loop mirror. It is shown that the inscription of two FBGs in different cores leads to the formation of a Michelson-type interferometer, leading to the modulation of generation spectra near threshold. This technique offers new possibilities for spectral filtering or multi-wavelength generation

The Effect of Personal Health on the Formation of Human Capital: a Metasystem Approach

In article the problem of influence of the personality's health on formation of the human capital is considered. Authors have conducted theoretical researches of the existing knowledge of the human capital and justifications of influence of the personality's health on its formation are given. On the basis of the carried-out analysis it is established that now the personality's health is a significant factor of efficiency of any kind of activity and important quality of the personality, therefore, it can be considered as a factor of formation of the human capital. According to it need of determination of criteria, the indicators of health of the personality influencing formation and development of the human capital was designated

Influence of preceramic paper composition on microstructure and mechanical properties of spark plasma sintered Ti3SiC2-based composites

AbstractThis paper describes the effect of preceramic paper composition on microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti3SiC2-based composites. The preceramic paper with Ti3SiC2-powder filler and different content (from 10 to 40 wt.%) of organic component (cellulose) was prepared. The composites were obtained by spark plasma sintering (SPS) at 50 MPa pressure for 10 min holding time. The sintering temperature was 1473 K. The influence of organic content on microstructure, phase composition, and flexural strength of the sintered materials was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and mechanical testing, respectively. It was revealed that the microstructure of the sintered materials became more porous with increasing of cellulose content in the paper. XRD analysis showed the presence of Ti3SiC2, TiC and TiSi2 phases in the sintered samples while the content of the Ti3SiC2 phase increase with decreasing of the organic content. The flexural strength changes from 100 (40 wt.%) to 300 MPa (10 wt.% organic binder) that is caused by porosity of the composites

Radiomics in the Diagnosis of Thyroid Nodules

    Get PDF
The thyroid nodules (TNs) are widespread throughout the world: according to the pathological studies, they can be found in 50–60% of adults. Currently, ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and radionuclide diagnostics, such as positron emission tomography with computed tomography, are usually used to diagnose TNs in clinic. These techniques are mainly used to diagnose the nodile benignity and malignancy, the degree of invasion into adjacent tissues and metastases to lymph nodes. Thanks to the development of artificial intelligence, machine learning and the improvement of medical imaging equipment, radiomics has become a popular area of research in recent years. It allowes to obtain various quantitative characteristics from medical images, highlighting invisible features and significantly expanding the possibilities of identifying and predicting. Radiomics has a high potential in detecting and predicting TNs. We present the information on the development and workflow of radiomics. The article summarizes the application of various imaging techniques to identify benign and malignant TNs, determine invasiveness and metastases to lymph nodes, as well as some new advances in the field of molecular level and deep learning. The disadvantages of radiomics method are also given as well as prospects for its further development
