Study of Operating and Marketing Strategy Factors in the Formulation of Strategies of Small Manufacturers

    Get PDF
The main purpose of this research is to measure the relative importance of a selected number of primary operating and marketing factors which may be involved in the formulation of strategies of small manufacturers. One hundred manufacturing owner-managers in Iran were investigated. The marketing factors emphasized most often were improvement in product quality and reduction in product cost. However, improvements in customer service and in scheduling appeared to contribute more to actual firm performance. Overall, there seemed to be more emphasis on the production strategy factors than marketing factors as a means to gaining competitive advantage

Designing a Novel Reversible Systolic Array Using QCA

    Get PDF
Many efforts have been done about designing nano-based devices till today. One of these devices is Quantum Cellular Automata (QCA). Because of astonishing growth in VLSI circuits Designs in larger scales and necessity of feature size reduction, there is more need to design complicated control systems using nano-based devices. Besides, since there is a critical manner of temperature in QCA devices, complicated systems using these devices should be designed reversibly. This article has been proposed a novel architecture for QCA circuits in order to utilizing in complicated control systems based on systolic arrays with high throughput and least power dissipation

Performance Evaluation of Sensor Medium Access Control Protocol Using Coloured Petri Nets

AbstractFormal modeling techniques can be used for analysis of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Coloured Petri nets (CPNs) that is an extension of Petri nets is a powerful modeling technique. In this paper, we present a CPN model for modeling and performance evaluation of a medium access control protocol in WSNs named sensor-medium access control protocol (S-MAC). S-MAC is an energy-aware MAC protocol with nodes scheduling. The proposed model for this protocol uses the hierarchical modeling capability of CPNs. By using CPNs in this case study and the proposed method for modeling packet broadcast, we have demonstrated the possibility of modeling and evaluation of any other MAC protocol in WSNs or mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET)

Through a mechanism-based approach, nanoparticles of cerium and yttrium may improve the outcome of pancreatic islet isolation

AbstractInsulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) is a global disease with high economic and social burden. A potential cure for type 1 diabetes is pancreatic islet transplantation. Despite recent improvements, islets are faced with various types of stress related to the isolation and transplantation procedure. Oxidative stress plays an essential role in cell damage during islet isolation and transplantation procedures. In this article, we hypothesise that a combination of cerium and yttrium oxide nanoparticles, as a power antioxidant with free-radical-scavenging activity, because of enhancing the survival or viability of cells in vitro can improve islet transplantation. No doubt, administration of this improvement can be used in diabetes treatment
