    Muon Track Matching

    Get PDF
For most physical processes the tracks observed in the muon stations must be matched with the corresponding tracks in the inner tracker, the external muon system providing muon identification and triggering but the tracker points giving the precise momentum measurement at lower momenta. For high momenta the momentum resolution is much improved by the interconnection of inner and outer measurements. The matching of outer and inner measurements is more delicate in case of muons embedded in jets. A study of the matching procedure was carried out using samples of (b, anti b) jets at high Pt, requiring (b, anti b) -> mu decays. For most physical processes the tracks observed in the muon stations must be matched with the corresponding tracks in the inner tracker, the external muon system providing muon identification and triggering but the tracker points giving the precise momentum measurement at lower momenta. Specific heat and magnetocaloric effect in Pr1-xAgxMnO3 manganites

The magnetocaloric effect in alternating magnetic fields has been investigated in Pr1-xAgxMnO3 manganites with x=0.05-0.25. The stepwise reversal of the sign of the magnetocaloric effect has been revealed in a weakly doped sample (x=0.05) at low temperatures (~80 K). This reversal is attributed to the coexistence of the ferromagnetic and canted antiferromagnetic phases with different critical temperatures.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

Search for the standard model Higgs boson in ν\bm{\ellν}+jets final states in 9.7~fb1\bm{^{-1}} of ppˉ\bm{p\bar{p}} collisions with the D0 detector

    Get PDF
We present, in detail, a search for the standard model Higgs boson, HH, in final states with a charged lepton (electron or muon), missing energy, and two or more jets in data corresponding to 9.7 fb1^{-1} of integrated luminosity collected at a center of mass energy of s\sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppˉp\bar{p} Collider. The search uses bb-jet identification to categorize events for improved signal versus background separation and is sensitive to associated production of the HH with a WW boson, WHνbbˉWH\to\ell\nu b\bar{b}; gluon fusion with the Higgs decaying to WW boson pairs, HWWνjjH\to WW\to\ell\nu jj; and associated production with a vector boson where the Higgs decays to WW boson pairs, VHVWWνjjjjVH\to VWW \to \ell\nu jjjj production (where V=WV = W or ZZ). We observe good agreement between data and expected background. We test our method by measuring WZWZ and ZZZZ production with ZbbˉZ\to b\bar{b} and find production rates consistent with the standard model prediction. For a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, we set a 95%\ C.L. upper limit on the production of a standard model Higgs boson of \obslimA×σSM\times\sigma_{\rm SM}, where σSM\sigma_{\rm SM} is the standard model Higgs boson production cross section, while the expected limit is \explimA×σSM\times\sigma_{\rm SM}. We also interpret the data considering models with fourth generation fermions, or a fermiophobic Higgs boson

Terms of Citizens 'Rights Restriction when Applying Measures of Criminal Procedure Forcing

The article considers the nature and purpose of measures of criminal procedure coercion. The authors highlighted the grounds for restricting constitutional rights and freedoms when using coercive means. The author’s definition of measures of criminal procedural coercion is formulated, which means: the preventive action applied by the authorities conducting the criminal process in the criminal case aimed at achieving the objectives of the pre-trial investigation and trial or ensuring proper conduct of the participants in the criminal process specified in the law, if any conditions and circumstances that necessitate the use of such an impact. The issues of legality and localization criteria of personal property and non-property subjective interests of citizens are raised. The analysis of the main classifications of measures of procedural coercion is carried out, and the author's approach to the classification of measures of procedural coercion is proposed, based on the conditions and the real need to limit the rights and legitimate interests of the person. Article materials can be of practical value for employees of investigative units conducting pre-trial investigations and encountering problems with the application of procedural coercive measures

Search for R-parity Violating Supersymmetry in Dimuon and Four-Jets Channel

    Get PDF
We present results of a search for R-parity-violating decay of the neutralino chi_1^0, taken to be the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle. It is assumed that this decay proceeds through one of the lepton-number violating couplings lambda-prime_2jk (j=1,2; k=1,2,3). This search is based on 77.5 pb-1 of data, collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron in ppbar collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.8 TeV in 1992-1995.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure

Search for Zgamma events with large missing transverse energy in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV

    Get PDF
We present the first search for supersymmetry (SUSY) in Zgamma final states with large missing transverse energy using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.2 fb-1 collected with the D0 experiment in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. This signature is predicted in gauge-mediated SUSY-breaking models, where the lightest neutralino is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP) and is produced in pairs, possibly through decay from heavier supersymmetric particles. The NLSP can decay either to a Z boson or a photon and an associated gravitino that escapes detection. We exclude this model at the 95% C.L. for SUSY breaking scales of Lambda < 87 TeV, corresponding to neutralino masses of < 151 GeV.Comment: submitted to Phys. Rev. Let

Search for new fermions ("quirks") at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider

    Get PDF
We report results of a search for particles with anomalously high ionization in events with a high transverse energy jet and large missing transverse energy in 2.42.4 fb1^{-1} of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron ppˉp\bar{p} collider. Production of such particles (quirks) is expected in scenarios with extra QCD-like {\it SU(N)} sectors, and this study is the first dedicated search for such signatures. We find no evidence of a signal and set a lower mass limit of 107 ~GeV for the mass of a charged quirk with strong dynamics scale Λ\Lambda in the range from 10 keV to 1 MeV.Comment: submitted to Phys.
