On some invariants in numerical semigroups and estimations of the order bound
We study suitable parameters and relations in a numerical semigroup S. When S
is the Weierstrass semigroup at a rational point P of a projective curve C, we
evaluate the Feng-Rao order bound of the associated family of Goppa codes.
Further we conjecture that the order bound is always greater than a fixed value
easily deduced from the parameters of the semigroup: we also prove this
inequality in several cases
A Note on Partial Cavitation of Flat Plate Hydrofoils
Recently Tulin and Wu have treated the problem of fully developed cavitation on flat plate and cambered foils. In these treatments, the length of the cavity is always greater than the chord of the hydrofoil and the cavity is assumed to start at the leading edge of the plate. The purpose of this note is to extend Tulin's work to account for partial cavitation, i.e., when the cavitation bubble is less than the hydrofoil chord
Excitations of the nucleon with dynamical fermions
We measure the spectrum of low-lying nucleon resonances using Bayesian
fitting methods. We compare the masses obtained in the quenched approximation
to those obtained with two flavours of dynamical fermions at a matched lattice
spacing. At the pion masses employed in our simulations, we find that the mass
of the first positive-parity nucleon excitation is always greater than that of
the parity partner of the nucleon.Comment: Lattice2002(spectrum) 3 pages, 4 figure
Left-Right Asymmetry of Weak Interaction Mass of Polarized Fermions in Flight
The left-right polarization-dependent asymmetry of the weak interaction mass
is investigated. Based on the Standard Model, the calculation shows that the
weak interaction mass of left-handed polarized fermions is always greater than
that of right-handed polarized fermions in flight with the same velocity in any
inertial frame. The asymmetry of the weak interaction mass might be very
important to the investigation of neutrino mass and would have an important
significance for understanding the parity nonconservation in weak interactions.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures, corrected calculatio
