    Ideology and organization

    Get PDF
If, to speak about organization, we accept the postulate that there are " good reasons " to speak about it, it is then necessary to investigate the universe of ideology and the way by which models plunge their roots in ideology as well as they create a coherent world. Ideology, as justification, produces representations. What is in question here, is the kind of deformation carried by representations. They produce a structure of the world, the validation of which may be an object of science seen as the construction of a truth in a project of "knowledge" of this world. The concept of ideology is particularly difficult. It benefits and suffers from two major influences in its foundations: that of a political perspective with Marx and Engels and that of the sociological reaction (from Max Weber to Raymond Boudon and Pierre Bourdieu). Ideology as an “ attractor ” raises the question of “ ultimate references ”.

Intergenerational Educational Mobility and Identity: a French-Argentine Comparative Study

    Get PDF
This study forms part of the author’s longstanding research regarding social, educational and professional mobility observed in Argentina across three generations, associated with the factor of Education and with the greater flow of immigrants in the last century. This research encompasses various smaller studies. Here we mention one, a French-Argentine comparative study in which we worked with PhDs from different institutions and different social science PhD programs. Our objective was: a) to analyze what factors (quantitative) and what reasons (qualitative) positively and negatively impacted professional pathways (career mobility); b) to observe the level of educational mobility present in families with PhDs, taking the issue from different paradigms (reproductionist/interactionist): University of elites? University of the masses? The methodology was both quantitative and qualitative, using semi-structured surveys (which included open-ended statements so respondents could expand); the hierarchical evocation technique and interviews. Results: a) we observed the intergenerational educational mobility of PhDs (quantitative-descriptive level); b) we understood some of the “reasons” and “sense” that underlie said mobility and that have either acted as driving forces or have not acted as driving forces of social and cultural-educational promotion (qualitative level). c) We found similar levels of intergenerational educational mobility for PhDs in France and Argentina (graduates of various PhD programs). This result is interesting in the face of well-held myths of educational “hypo mobility” , intergenerational drops in mobility, stagnation, a lack of educational/cultural promotion under “plafond” effects, or a saturation of degree holders, above all in developed countries. From the point of view of identity, this high level of intergenerational educational mobility impacted national, institutional and micro individual identity; three planes in sustained interaction using the author’s theory: The Three Dimensional Spiral of Sense ((2015 a and b).Fil: Aparicio, Miriam Teresita. Experience and Subjectivity: François Jullien and Jean François Billeter

    Get PDF
International audienceThe concept of subjectivity as we know it, especially since Descartes, does not appear as such in ancient Chinese thought. But the fact that subjectivity is not explicitly expressed does not imply that one can do without it. Subjectivity may remain hidden, or implicit, awaiting to be revealed by commentators. Thus, what is in stake is not to know if subjectivity has been theorized by Chinese thinkers, but rather to know if sinology may use this concept as a principle when studying Chinese classics. This question was recently raised in the controversy between two sinologists, the Swiss Jean François Billeter (born in 1939) and the French François Jullien (born in 1951). Here will be briefly exposed the works of both sinologists, especially froma methodological point of view, and then the controversies that, as we will see, emerged quite naturally. We will finally examine if the existence of subjectivity in ancient Chinese thought is a merely sinological question, or more generally a philosophical one

Exploration and Imagination of City Futures in Science-Fiction

Whilst urban planning is regularly based on the scientific state of the art, Science-Fiction (Sci-Fi) creators are free to implement more improbable aspects which may look ‘mad’ from today’s view. This paper focuses on the question what urban planning can learn from urban future created in Sci-Fi works. The articleis based on empirical data from a research project named “Sci-Fi Cities – urban futures in art, literature and video". The study was conducted by an interdisciplinary team of researchers at Brandenburg University of Technology, Germany, including experts from media science, urban planning, architecture and visual arts. The aim of the study is to analyze how future cities work in Sci-Fi and if respective what urban policy formulation can learn out of it. The timeframe set starts from the 1970ies and focuses on Sci-Fi works dealing with a future being still prospective from today’s view. The geografical emphasis is put on the Western culture (Europe, US, Japan) since the study aims in providing deductions for the German context. Sci-Fi works from different media as movies, literature, comics, computer games are taken into account. The project was assigned by the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development in Germany (October 2014 until March 2015)

    THEMING DISCURSE IN VILLAGE DEVELPOMENT

    Get PDF
The issues of the development of thematic villages are mostly investigated in Poland, Austria, Lithuania. Village development theming is usually defined as a strategy or model. It acts as a vehicle for village renewal, enabling even small villages to develop successfully in the age of globalization. An experiential marketing strategy guides village development towards sustainability and helps to ensure integration between village environmental, economic and social development dimensions. Thematic villages play a heuristic role, they "push" locals and customers out of established spaces, village storytelling schemes, and encourage the search for alternative life, behavior and business models. This research aim was achieved: to determine the characteristics of the village theming development: thematic space, integrated (complex) consumption, co-creation, recreation, interests (needs), experience. Thematic analysis, collation and other methods of scientific literature were applied. Representatives of the various stakeholders must be involved in the village development theming characteristics package planning, management and control processes. There is a two-way communication between the development of various thematic objects in economic, social and environmental terms and the creation of a thematic space which must serve not only the interests of the visitors but also the inhabitants

Conducting and Ensemble Direction 1500 to 1800: The Evidence of Selected Theorists

    Get PDF
This dissertation discusses writings on conducting and ensemble direction from 1500 to 1800 with a focus on time-beating technique, the development of modern conducting patterns, and the function of the most common types of ensemble direction in the eighteenth century: the Kapellmeister, the keyboardist-leader, the violinist-leader, and the double-leadership. Evidence are writings of selected theorists from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century; all primary sources which are originally written in either German, French, or Italian are revised and presented with a side-by-side English translation. The examination on time-beating includes treatises from 1532 until 1768 by the theorists Martin Agricola, Etienne Loulié, Johann Beer, and Johann Adolph Scheibe. The differentiation between the French and Italian conducting technique of the seventeenth century is discussed with the French theorist Jean-Jacques Rousseau. The development of modern conducting patterns is presented by the French and Italian theorists Lorenzo Penna, Michel de Saint-Lambert, Michel Pignolet de Montéclair, and Henri-Louis Choquel. Also incorporated is a brief discussion on left-handed conducting. The eighteenth century unfolds a variety of types of ensemble direction and I discuss the most common types of ensemble directing executed by the Kapellmeister, a double-leadership concept with Kapellmeister and concertmaster, keyboardist-leader, and the direction by a violinist-leader. At the end of this dissertation there are thoughts toward a prospect of historically informed conducting

Causality between Design Direction and Net Promoter Score: An opening how to govern design more analytically by combining excisting structures

    Get PDF
Business development is striving for more certainty by creating softwares to analyze trends and figures. Parallelly there also seems to be a trend to increase certainty in design by gathering more data. It is not only challenging, but also a paradigm shift. Being a concept of auteurship, design is driven by the creative process and by the human expression where solutions are attributed by the designer. From this point of view design is highly ambiguous. On the other hand, it has been proven that design solution and the impact of design is improved by developing more precise design briefs and by having more conscious design direction. This development is also structurally embedded in current design ROI discurse. Do design need its own initial data or could excisting business engines, such as Net Promoter Score, be utilized as design attribute tools

For the last years, in Spain, the two-party electoral battles have become duels between four opponents, that get their expectations higher or lower depending on the political focus that involves the Spanish society at the moment. They also battle on the long term for the idea of which party provides the best image of the country, which party defends a national identity that makes the citizens identify themselves with it. In this work, I’m approaching Podemos, which from 2014 was founded with the goal of stepping ahead, against the idea of withdrawing and, at least, picking between the same colors as always, considering that it was time to make a move and add up. The analysis centres on their hegemonic dispute of the concept “patria” (homerland) and on a national identity that has been given historically to the right-wing forces in Spain. To develop this analysis, I will study the Podemos’ speech in Twitter, and more specifically, through Íñigo Errejón’s profile in relation to concepts as “patria”, “país” and “pueblo” (homeland, country and people). The work will also be useful for studying the development of a political discurse on social media, for studying the political communication spread by Podemos on Twitter and for approaching populism as a political strategy in Spain from two perspectives: the one that defends it and another one that rejects it. Through academic professors we will study the importance of Twitter as a political tool and its use electorally. Also, through authors as Laclau or Lakoff we will go over the populism as it’s used by Podemos and the hegemony struggle that they dispute

THE COMMUNICATIVE VALUES OF KEY AND TERMINATION IN SLOVENE

    Get PDF
The article examines the agreement of the pre-tonic pitch height (i. e. key) and the pitch height of the tonic syllable (i. e. termination) in the Slovene language. A typical feature of the Slovene pitch movement is its gradual descent. The result is often a difference in pitch betvveen the tone unit initial key and the pitch height of the tonic syllable. The auditory analysis of radio interviews with two senior Slovene politicians proved that three levels of key (high, mid, low) and three levels of termination (high, mid, low) can be distinguished in the Slovene language. The purpose of the analysis was also to establish the communicative functions of keys and termination where the use of a particular combination of a key and termination may imply the intervievvee\u27s attitude to the discussed topic and the interviewer\u27s question. The analysis of the two interviews has shown that the communicative function of the high key in Slovene is to express a contrast or a different opinion. The mid key usually expresses agreement vvith the previous tone unit or simply adds new Information, whereas the low key is used to explain a statement with the purpose of reducing the degree of ambiguity
